- “For we know not what we should pray for as we ought . . .” Romans 8:26
His disciples asked Jesus how to pray, and He taught them. He said, “After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:9-13
This is, of course, the model prayer, a guideline to proper and profitable prayer. But beyond this, we are also instructed to . . .
Pray for our enemies - Matthew 5:43-48
Pray for wisdom - Proverbs 4:5-9
Pray for His lost sheep to be converted - Matthew 10:5-7
Pray for peace for God's people and God's House - Psalms 122:6
May God's people be a people that prays!
