The message from Slipknot reads like every official firing email I've ever seen. 'Creative decision', 'part ways'... It's that 'everyone loves each other' PR speak, meanwhile behind the scenes they hate each other's guts, or someone had a psychotic break, and it's time to avoid legal liability.

Yeah, I’m not big on them. Never have been. And seeing stuff like this leaves me with the horrible taste left in my mouth when my “band” (I literally wrote all instruments and parts) blind sided me.
@@voyager1568 Yeah, like some of their songs are enjoyable, but I've never been one of the super-fans. They also have this weird habit of inserting these cliche phrases into otherwise cool sections. Everything is sounding good, and then all of a sudden there's like 2 bars from a Christian metal band. Don't know what that's about.

@@RigelSounds yah he is nice but he is also right, slipknot not only needs a brutaly good drummer, it needs somebody with experience on touring, with the physical capacity of playing intense 1:30 hour sets every weekend with a mask and a jumpsuit on. Its just not easy

If you're interested in seeing those old Dream Theater auditions, they're up on RUclips. 3 parts, around 20 minutes each. Really cool seeing the procedure the band used to put everyone to the test. Obviously Mangini got the spot, and now years later is ready to do his own thing while the OG Portnoy comes home.

Jay Weinberg has already confirmed that this is indeed true. He received a phone call from them on November 5th stating that he was being let go from the band. He had no idea it was coming and was completely shocked by it.
Hes 100% skilled enough to play for them, but when he says "not experienced enough" i think it refers more towards their touring life and collaborating in such a high level band.

NO WAY! He needs to start his own band or keep doing what hes doing on youtube/social media and start collabing with other independent artists. All these independent artists that are leagues better than mainstream need to start pulling together. Im a RENegade and love seeing these artists making youtube and other platforms work for them and not need the labels and mainstream media. I would love to see el estapario and Ren collab on a rock song.
Everything, it's not mainstream until they are mainstream. El estepario is mainstream on RUclips. I get your point and I feel you, but never forget that an invitation from slipknot, open many other doors and relaxed retirement.

I think El Estepario joining Slipknot would be a disservice to him. He has his own brand, his own following, and he doesn't need to join a legacy act.

I think he would make slipknot more mainstream. Like I love watching him play and I am not a huge metal guy(more classic with a bit of hard rock) but if he was in the band I would probably love metal.

I think I understand the ‘creative decision’ actually. Maybe I’ll eat my words when the new drummer is announced. But I feel like Slipknot needs a drummer that’s little rough around the edges and Jay is just too good to be that haha. Listened to some of Joeys work again recently and that became quite apparent to me. But we’ll see!
difference between Jay and Joey was, Joey young and creating his drum plays and hungry to make the biggest band in the world to establish, he was young, talented and angry. Jay longtime fan, and he isn't an angry person and became part of an established world renowned band

Well, Estepario is wrong because Jay himself he didn't find out about this till it was posted by Slipknot.
When they said “creative decision”, and I’m going to be brutally honest here.
I feel they were referring to the fact that, although Jay is an amazing drummer, he is more of a straightforward drummer.
He is amazing and I’ve heard him live multiple times but the reality of the situation is that maybe creatively he’s not able to offer as much as another drummer who is also amazing, but has a very diverse creative pallet on the drums. Like Joey

I dunno things, of course... of course not... but... the bassist of Slipknot made a request to El Estepario about what song to "cover next" in a video and El Estepario actually did that, so we can tell for sure Slipknot well knows what he's capable of. So I dunno... time will tell. All I can tell is I wish he does what he's really happiest with.

You REALLY need to check out Eloy Casagrande.... He's friggin amazing like El Estepario says. Hiss Slipknot covers and Metallica covers are IN SANE!
But really check out his Phil Collins Easy Lover cover in increasing tempo, up to 245 BPM! It shows off his amazing talent and sick fills. He'd be the ultimate fit for sure

Just wanna say in regards to Jays firing, and their reasons behind it..... It will always be an unknown unless both parties come out and share the details. Working in trade skills my whole life if theres one thing ive learned with "team oriented" work..... There's a personal reason, for the professional termination. It's usually never whatever was claimed to be the issue and it always comes down to a character flaw.

Here in Iowa, the consensus is they've become a joke. For years they claimed to be a 'family'. Well, they sold that crock of shit to the wrong crowd here in their backyard. They aren't a family in any sense of the meaning. Half the original members are gone: Paul, Joey, Chris and Craig. The core songwriters are gone.
Slipknot as we knew it, is gone.

Lol, that's how it is my man, the band for the 99' had already fired or parted ways with 5 members. Actually there's only one og slipknot member left and that is clown, Craig, mick, Chris, Joey, corey, Jim and Sid joined the band after it's creation Joey being the first one to join. The band is there no matter who are the members, that was the original idea of the band and that's why they use masks

As a musician, going from what El Estepario Siberiano is doing now with videos to full on playing non-stop headlining tours, travling constantly and having a wacked out schedule is a serious shock if you've never done it before. It's a lot to take in and sensory overload as opposed to someone how has that world wide touring experience, especially with a band as big as Slipknot.
With that said though, you can't get the experience unless given the chance to do so and I think he would kill it personally. 🤘🤘

Going to sleep and waking up in a different state or country along with all the strict time schedules can make ones head spin and be a lot to take in if never done before. You need to watch the Dream Theater videos. Marco Minnemann of The Aristocrats, Mike Mangini and Peter Wildoer were on the final shortlist. Aquiles Priester and Virgil Donati auditioned.
Minnemann declined because there was no room for composing.
To be cynic, Slipknot is using Weinberg leaving as an excellent vehicle for publicity and it works with all the debate going. Sure it will put the new drummer in the spot. It will probably be a reason
for some fans to leave it be for good or an excuse to move on in their life, leaving the teenage years behind for good.
Floor Jansen toured with Nightwish all this year while being pregnant as fuck. They had to cancel the last show in Oslo because she faded out after the gig.

El Estepario is %100 right about us living in the last days. I always knew he was a smart cookie but he just leveled up in my opinion. Very few people are aware of how close we are to the rapture, despite all the signs. When i was a kid we used to say thunder was the angels playing drums. Slipknot has gotten friends of theirs to post cryptic messages to mess with the fans.
