I can’t stop crying... Used to listen Suliko in Lithuania, now listen in uk. Lithuanians adore this song, often play and hum it, but original georgian sounds divine.
This song haunts me forever. I had it play at the Christening of our beautiful Georgian born daughter in an English speaking church in Canada. Many a tear were shed even with not knowing the words, however I did. I think of my daughter who will never know her Georgian birth mother, and how that very honourable woman gave us the biggest gift in our lives. We truly love Georgia
I remeber the song from the early 1950s when my mother and father sang it during the long winter nights in Bulgaria. When I first had it played on my laptop my mum, who is 85, had tears running down her face.
Souliko (in Georgian: სულიკო) is the title of a love poem written in 1895 by the famous Georgian poet Akaki Tsereteli, set to music by Varenka (Barbara) Tsereteli and considered a traditional Georgian song. Souliko is originally a Georgian name, masculine or feminine, meaning "soul". This song was and is frequently played on the radio, on television. It has been translated and interpreted in many languages, including Russian, Ukrainian, English, German, Polish, Romanian, french and Chinese. Written in the first person, the song tells the quest of a man looking for the grave of his beloved Souliko. Inspired by a nightingale, he ends up being sure to have found it at the foot of a bush of roses. But Suliko is also the symbol of the supreme Truth and kindness that man tries to discover in life.
Ia Khachapuridze .. Thank You for interpreting, for our Hearts can feel the Sorrow of his broken heart as he searches for his long lost love.. you put it into words perfectly.

10georgian The biggest similarity is the language. Similar words, same order in sentences... That´s a mistery to us. We are surrounded by indoeuropean cultures and languages. We are isolated and we see similarities with a culture that is so far away. Some words: mendi>minda, da>da or the most important hill in Bilbao, called Artxanda
Für mich die mit Abstand schönste Aufführung von Suliko. In der (kollektiven) Schlichtheit liegt die Kraft des Volksliedes; künstlerisches Getue ist da durchaus fehl am Platze.
Мороз по коже. Мы ее пели в студенческие годы. Но не так красиво, конечно. Но по-грузински. У нас были грузины, они нас словам научили. Я до сих пор помню.
