In the summer of 97, I took a travel assignment in Kinston. I worked at Lenore Hosptal. The ppl were not friendly at all. I just drove to the beach at Newburn and Emerald Isle for entertainment. I would drive to Raleigh to find stuff to do.
Interesting. I've personally noticed a correlation between higher crime areas and cities having more rude or aggressive people. Raleigh is my favorite place in NC. Great people there.
Every town's got their good areas in the bad areas.Kinson is a nice town.Just stay out of the bad areas.I live outside in a rural area.Friendly people nice place to be

I was here in Kingston between 2008-2010, in the hillbilly area of town. they were living in trailer homes, wearing plaid shirts and jean overalls. very low income and very low poor of life. I look at this video and see some big improvements. I look at the cars I see and they look like they are making it. you would think they would be driving cars like in Cuba still.
Unfortunately, Kinston still has a long way to go.

I live here ...this place sucks! l did not choose to move here. No one likes this town. I have no feelings at all for this area..no mall...one kfc.
