Great episode on these guys. Saw them at the Shelter in Detroit and also saw them open for The Killers at St Andrew’s. Incredible band and a great record, thanks for doing the ep!
Great topic. Agree. One of the greatest albums, and I somehow never got the irony of it being called LP. Never thought I'd get to see them again. Then they reconvened for the anniversary of Mercury Lounge NYC and it was an incredible show. Congleton got screwed when TVT's catalog was sold, the album with Cale should get a proper release. Big Star (#1 Record), Menthol (Danger Rock Science), Glueleg (Heroic Doses), even those bands got to release something else. Vietnam is the only other I can think of that really got only one release before splintering (start with Priest Poet Pig).
This is one of my favorite albums, especially from a production perspective. Ambulance Ltd also had an EP before and after this LP, and you can find an unreleased album somewhere on the interwebs. What I WISH I could find is their MTV Subterranean performance from back in the day! 2004 remains my favorite music year.
Matt Dublin was also the main writer in Red Romance, pretty sure he had another band after that one went nowhere. Back in the day you could find a lot of Red Romance stuff in their website but it's been dead for ages. They released 3 or 4 EPs independently and even just digitally, so I don't think there's a chance they sold more than Ambulance haha The band to listen to though is Drug Cabin. Marcus only joined after the EP was already released so he only recorded the albums Yard Work and Wiggle Room, which were actually recorded at the same time so one might consider them a double album.
@@scratchatrack Yeah! From the stuff that was shared online there's material for at least 2 Ambulance LTD albums and at least another Drug Cabin too. Last thing I knew was that Marcus was thinking of releasing an EP, hopefully he gets to release it eventually!
I haven't listened to this in probably 15 years, but my main memory of it is that the cd jacket was unusually glossy. No idea why that still sticks with me. Side notes: if we're naming grunge supergroup one-offs you have to include Mad Season. Also a great Swap A Song would be which Magical Mystery Tour track would you swap onto Sgt Pepper.
That would be tough. I think the Strawberry Fields would be high on the list. Also, Fool on the Hill. I think the picture it paints would go really well on SGT. Pepper.

I’ll have to check this out, I’ve never heard of the band or album until seeing this video 👍
Sweet! Well I hope you enjoy it, we do:)
I love thee guys! I bought this Cd when it came out and saw them in concert......They were incredible! I always wondered where they went??

I’ve never heard of this band and will check it out! I got a laugh out of the reaction Grimm had to Dude’s scratch. It seemed like such a betrayal 😆.
Yeah, I knew it was coming!

Sweet, thanks for the suggestion! Have you heard the unreleased recordings from the Ambulance LTD second album?

It’s my life best album!

Operation Ivy had an important EP as well (Too Hectic)... not sure if that bumps them out of the 1 album wonder label.
I think they would still qualify!
