Scratching The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
My best friend gave me this vinyl for my birthday probably 15 years ago, knowing NIN is my favorite band of all time. Most valuable album in my collection, both sentimentally and monetarily. It was around $400 at the time, don't know what it is now. Doesn't matter to me, it's the crown of my collection.
Joe Cocker's best version of "With A Little Help Form My Friends" is on the live album "Mad Dogs And Englishmen" he also covered "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" and "Something" All three on MDAEM
16 and yes
Such a good album. Immediate top 4 or maybe even top 3.
Creep is the best one by far
The sheer force of nature and raw energy of this album is unmatched. It is amazing the level of flow with a group of guys. Being that tight is wild
Pea is the weakest song. I can see it on their 80s output but not on an album as heavy as OHM. Also, the studio version of Pea suffers from the fact that the live version is so much better, where at the end the band have an explosion of energy while Kiedis is like "So, f***ing what?" four times.
Big Man with a Gun isn't my favorite and recently I learned that it was made to mock rap at the time
I understand scratching Tearjerker but scratching the title track???? Id scratch Pea. By the way, this album used to be my 3rd least favorite album. Now its my 2nd fav...Californication is still amazing.
Joe Cocker soooo much better!
Transcending is the most complex and the final track. Aeroplane is the most commercial. My Friends was the biggest hit. Walkabout is great too. Pea is forgettable IMO. (I had this album on CD in Nov 1995).
Transcending was addictive the first time I heard it. Aeroplane I skip sometimes, though it was because I overplayed it. One Hot Minute and One Big Mob are monsters. (currently listening to it right now)
I like that one but it’s still the worst one, shows how good this album is
IT'S A FUCKN MASTERPIECE
Great episode on these guys. Saw them at the Shelter in Detroit and also saw them open for The Killers at St Andrew’s. Incredible band and a great record, thanks for doing the ep!
Idk if you do recommendations but I’d be curious if you’ll talk about the indie rock/experimental pop artist Jean Dawson’s records Pixel Bath and Chaos Now or even his most recent release Glimmer Of God. He’s definitely a more recent artist but I’d be curious on your thoughts
i’d scratch essex dogs it just doesn’t go down well with me
So where's the music? U suck
heaven'z yes tough stay up on Bungle. Doy
yea those thrash song's aren't cover's igit's
R u guy's in slo mo?
We're actually going backwards.
love only
dropped sew much acid did so mush speed smoked me ton 'a' weed , drank more, than you. O
love the era vulgaris shirt! you guys should do a breakdown vid on the song "misfit love" from that album... the last minute and a half or so of that song is beautiful. (the chords at the end are A6, G#7sus4-G#7, D(susb5(?)), F#.) this video was great, and explained everything i love about this track. minor 4ths are typically cliche, but in the context of this song it works amazing because it's really in a key that is a step and a half above. so cool!!
BSSM ONE HOT MINUTE BY THE WAY CALIFORNICATION ......rest don't matter
I think " One Hot Minute " is four and half stars for me . Great album . Warped , Coffe Shop , Pea , Tearjerker , My Friends , Deep Kick ....Walkabout , Aeroplaine ....one of t\ best RHCP albums for sure .
I agree with Limo Wreck, my favorite song off the album, but would keep Black Hole Sun. It’s THE iconic song, that everyone has heard. And it needs to be recognized that way. I would take off half from the album, very weird song.
Dear idiots and imbeciles to whom it may concern. Don't tell me what you're going to talk about, just START TALKING. We don't need a preamble. Damn you pod people are stupid.
My fav is crackerman
Talk Show album is underrated. It's a solid record from start to finish - just not AS GOOD as Purple or Tiny Music (IMO).
I’d scratch wet my bed, not sex type thing. Sex type thing is a classic
getting rid of race for the prize is insane
In a word - probably. I certainly can't think of a better one or a gig I'd wished I'd been at more than these four.
Bulby!
You could fall into a rabbit hole about any Mike Paton song. Pink cigarette is about finding your wife cheating and the pink cigarette is a metaphor for a penis. Stay weird
Folklore, Evermore, and Red Taylor’s Version
Friends #1.
I could never forget
F. I was looking for a dj/turntabilist scratching Pink Floyd. Stayed for the lore.
It has all the pros and cons that usually come with a mega successful band’s Drug Album, which are usually frustratingly inconsistently brilliant and awful at once
Creep is my favorite
western pop culture eastern tibet Middle East Far East goofy Balkans kusturicalifornia cahin cahots lumpy bumpy soil pot-pourri full of genius pop gems for sure surf rock shore real songs yes a less hotchpotch bungle yet fun insolite side up doo-wop bonhomie bal room slow tenderness jazz pop cabaret rnb electro funk electric funk glockenspiel radiohead modern elegance robot’s music box taking shape toddling toddler solfège nursery rhymes like a motion picture anime robots
This is the apogee of the Reh Hot rhythm section, Flea and Chad are on fire on this record, and everything will be much flatter after that. I also find that Kiedis expresses his vocal abilities the most. Navarro is a far more varied and accomplished guitarist than Frusciante (whom I adore, by the way). The only fault I have with this album is that it's a bit over-produced (too many layers of guitars), whereas BSSM was very raw.
Talk Show was fantastic!!!!!!!
Yo. It's not a cover. Kris Kristofferson wrote. Morons
Love the review. Great work
Thanks! Lots of Queens on this channel:)
@@scratchatrack me and a buddy have started something similar , that sound podcast 🤘🇮🇪🇮🇪
Mosquito song could have been a single in my eyes /ears
Eric Avery was the only one on Roberts level (Janes)
Trippin on a hole is the best rock single of the entire 90s and the solo is the best on a single from that decade as well. Period. Big Bang was a damn strong song too. Adhesive is so good. It’s a perfect record. It’s one of the best ever made. It might be the best pure rock record of that decade too.
Greatest rock album of the 90s imo and one of the top 10 ever recorded.
This is one of my favorite albums, especially from a production perspective. Ambulance Ltd also had an EP before and after this LP, and you can find an unreleased album somewhere on the interwebs. What I WISH I could find is their MTV Subterranean performance from back in the day! 2004 remains my favorite music year.
