The problem is not the quality of textures, it's the inconsistency of style and how out of place things look. The vanilla textures are definitely not as high definition as these mods but they are much more consistent in design and style. This just looks like a game someone made in unreal engine using any assets they could get their hands on.
Exactly this. Don't get me wrong, it looks good! But, definitely not lore friendly. But, that's the thing with mods. You can make the games exactly how you want. Lord knows we've all played Skyrim 100 times. Maybe he just wanted a badass fantasy game.
My gaming laptop is great, but even at 1080p with a fairly medium load order it fights for its life. If I tried to run this my laptop would have a mental breakdown worse than me.
I myself use mods like vitruvia or definitive beauty pack (male add-on) sometimes. Oh. Male NPCs. For that I use Pandorable Males. I should check this load order actually.

Whiterun guard is a small force (not an army) employed by the Jarl of Whiterun. I assume he can afford to fit them like this. It’s holds like Morthal that would struggle.
A city guard is alot more different that a "simple grunt" a grunt would be like a foot soldier in a waistcloth and tunic in a standing army of the hold. City guards arnt" siple grunts"🤣🤣
I like Vagabond but I think it goes a bit too far in one direction of extreme Skyrim graphics. I think it's mainly the colour palatte of the modlist for me. It feels to green.

To each their own. Whatever works for you. I personally have no issue with the graphics alone. But the immersion stops for me when all the characters look straight out of anime lol as well as the art style of some of the armors. I forget the word for it, but the best way to avoid that, is to use mods that use the games pre existing textures. There’s a word for mods like that but it escapes me at the moment. With that being said this is your Skyrim. If you personally enjoy it, that is all the justification that is required.

So... Someone needs to learn that "HD" and 3D does not always look better. For one, those character models don't seem to be wearing armour and clothing that even comes close to fitting, and they look like Barbie dolls, looking made of plastic and covered in paint, way too clean and pristine, and that's not even touching on the uncanny valley of the statue faces trying to talk. The stones in that road also look like painted plastic, like those stones you'd put in a fish tank and not ones you'd find on a road, not to mention the 3D effect on the road makes it look nore like a child placed stones in the dirt instead of a road that people have been walking on even for months, let alone years. So... No, this doesn't look as good as vanilla Skyrim. Not to me. Hell, this doesn't even look as good as Oblivion. The base game may not have the prettiest looks, but they sure as hell look better than this.

Have you even played it? This is a high fantasy list. Every NPC wears fantasy clothing usually based on their race or occupation. It has artistic direction and cohesion.
Takes 3 hours to load, then crashes after an hour! Over 4000 hours in skyrim and the creation kit, the one thing I learned, less is more when it comes to moding.

you don't need a PC with rtx 4090. i run 3k+ modlist with a ryzen 2700x cpu and rx 5700 gpu. this is a 2019 PC = 5 years old. mods in 2K resolution look very good. you don't need to download every mod in 8K resolution to look good. this is something that most modders don't say.
Was it absolutely necessary to murder the bunny? Also, damn beautiful Skyrim. I am scared to get into Nexus modding. I worry I might have files that corrupt or conflict with each other.

The list looks great and has plenty of content. It's far from a complete project as well. My only issue was the custom keymapping as it made setting my controller up a bit more difficult than I'd like. I'll definitely keep this one on my drive for a more polished update coming down the road.
The mods which make things look better feel out of place sometimes and weird and if you add a lot (at least for mine) the tiny bit of lag makes the movement feel glitchy and heavy like everything takes time to load. Less is more I think. The realistic water only makes waterfalls look better I feel like. I did JKs all in one and realistic lighting exterior only and cities look really nice and there’s no lag 👍
At first I thought this was vr an I was going to be insanely impressed, usually if you run all those mods and realism mods like touch physics and all that extra vr stuff, your headset will turn into a potato an your pc will be sounding like it’s screaming bloody murder unless you got the latest 2000$ rtx 4090 but just running it non vr, yeah a 3060 an up can easily run all those mods vr is a whole different ball game though
The problem isn't really how high definition or detailed everything is. No ones denying the detail. The problem is that the art style is all over the place. Imagine watching an animated movie where one character is drawn like a Jojo character, one is drawn like a Gravity falls character, one is drawn like a Baki character, one is drawn like an overwatch character, and the background is drawn like it's from Game of Thrones. All of those styles look good by themselves, but mashed together like that? That's the problem here, even if the art itself is more HD and detailed, it's less consistant with itself than Skyrims original artstyle.
The problem is models aren’t updated appropriately so you have these super high res textures on lower polygon models and it starts to look a bit uncanny. It looks especially bad on that volcano where the volumetric effects of Skyrim just aren’t that good for a 2011 game. They also don’t appear to react well with the game’s lighting system.
I think the reason why some reason is that all the high res stuff takes away the rustic nordic feeling of vanilla, don't get me wrong I think your Skyrim (especially jiggle effects) is very good. Personally for me I like my Skyrim feel like a gothic dark fantasy
you really need to walk around skyrim to give people a sense of how it all fits together aesthetically. Is there any thematic consistency between objects in the environment? Is there too much happening on the screen? Do the color tones clash? We don't get to judge any of that when you only show us individual high definition textures

The graphics and textures definitely improved but it kinda feels out of place for a land like Skyrim. Skyrim is this old, run-down place in the very north of the world, plaqued by war and hardships, so having people looking like supermodels and such expensive looking armor for the guards just feels like a contradiction. Not that I hate those mods, they're awesome, but personally, I'd prefer mods that enhance the vanilla feel, not overwrite it.

Bro, imagine not playing on Skyrims basic graphics, just load ultra graphics, it still holds up today, except flora, just get a mod that overhauls flora but stays close to Skyrims base graphics, and every now add some mods like the smim or ENB lights, and mods that improve more blurry to be more the base textures around them.

It depends on the list. Most will run fine on hardware made in 2016. Other lists warn you that you need good hardware. But yeah totally spot on here.

All the guards have a type of norman helmet and chainmail and its weirdly enough such an improvement, but maybe vanilla just got dull

People that say it sucks compared to vanilla have potato computers and can't run it. Im at 4k with vagabond. Took like 5 hours to install but so worth. Just wish i could add "better vampires" mod but it conflicts with the i believe sancrosanct mod

Bro, imagine not playing on Skyrims basic graphics, just load ultra graphics, it still holds up today, except flora, just get a mod that overhauls flora but stays close to Skyrims base graphics, and every now add some mods like the smim or ENB lights, and mods that improve more blurry to be more the base textures around them.
