This was an incredible interview, great to hear Kevin's experience working with Michael during his performance and and makes me absolutely upset how Michael was treated during This Is It.
Hello Red! First of all let me tell you that it’s great to see such a young guy like you keeping the memories of MJ alive. I’m a generation Michael Kid, I’m 40 now. Let me tell you those days the 80s, 90s and every time MJ would release a CD I would be jumping for joy, when I was a teen my room was plastered with MJs poster. I’m not one of those crazed MJs fans that would run after him to get a handshake or wait outside of his hotel room screaming. But MJ changed my life forever, his songs made me pursue all my dreams, his lyrics were like poets to me. I achieved all my dreams in life, jobs , everything because of Michael inspiration. Love the nature, help the poor, and MJ taught me all of that. I had tickets to see his show 3 weeks before he passed. Woke up at dawn to buy the tickets online as they were just 15 and the tickets were sold out in hours. Cutting the story short, when MJ died I was at work. My mum called me and say son I have bad news, when u get home turn on the TV. I cried for days and days, and still do occasionally when I watch some of his videos, live performances. Like I said I’m so lucky to have lived in an era where good music existed, MJ music were about love, racism, save the world, heal the world, look at ourselves in the mirror and become better people. These days the music industry is dead. All that is released is disposable songs easily forgotten after 2 months and that’s so sad. There will never, ever be another artist like Michael, when he filled stadiums he would be quiet without singing a note and fans would go crazy, faint , even without him singing a note. That’s an Icon! These days it’s all about nudity, vain , bling bling , cash cash flying. And you prob won’t read this. But knowing that someone your age is his fan and doing a fantastic job. Most of the boys your age are into the disposable type of songs I previously said. You make me proud and happy that MJ is still appreciated and loved by someone as young as you. I stumbled on your page by mistake. You got a new follower here! And u sure got good taste in music!!!! Keep it up , don’t be a follower of these new trends you won’t learn nothing from those songs. All the best to you and thank you as a MJ fan to keep his memory alive. There is not one day that I don’t listen to a song from MJ. But I sure miss going to the CD stores and buy his albums, Lps, magazines! Greetings from Portugal! Keep it up red. Michael was the greatest man that ever walked this earth. He was too good for this cruel world. I sure hope he’s at peace now. No one can hurt him anymore. Peace !!!!
Oh and I dunno if you heard this, but a few weeks Harry Styles was considered the new king of Pop. That went down so bad in the Jackson family that MJs oldest son had to comment and refute that.
Wow you are great at doing interview! I saw Michael in Helsinki History tour 1997. I was with my sister and her daughter and when we was sitting on the grass of the stadium him personel looked at me from the stage curtains. Soon 2 big men came to me and ask why I sit on the grass. I said well I am here to see the concert. They then said we have a better spot for you , I said ok but Im with my sister and nice. They said all you can come and then they took us to the VIP stand. And above it was the light table. They said you can sit here on the light table. Then some of his crew came to take a photo with me , I remember this long haired dancer he has in some of his music videos he came also. That was a great experience. You may ask why they did that, well lets just say my looks was pretty stunning decades ago LOL. The show was amazing from the best seats on the Olympic Stadium. Never will anyone come even close to what he did.
I totally agree with Kevin, music is not what it was. The level is very low. Now anyone can "sing" even without being able to. Music died June 25th, 2009.
Love hearing this from the people who were backing up MJ on stage. Your interview and questions are spot on. Sounds like some real crap was going down during the TII concert rehearsals. Very sad. In my mind, there are still a lot of unanswered questions.
Thank you so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it. What unanswered questions have you got? Maybe I can ask them if I interview someone associated with this is it again
@@RedJacksonDance someone needs to just come clean and come out with what AEG was doing. It's been said for years from MJ supporters that Michael didn't fire anyone and it was all AEG behind it. i think i read somewhere that even his closest friends and his mother couldn't get in touch with him. I also question Michael Amir Williams allegiance and how even Bill and Javon were left in Las Vegas and told they weren't to go with MJ and to stay behind. AEG seemed to have created an entirely awful world for MJ and they didn't want anything to get in their way.
Thanks for watching and for sharing your thoughts! 🙏🏻 If you’re interested in Bill & Javon, I recently did an interview with MJ’s “forgotten” bodyguard Mike Garcia who was the third bodyguard alongside Bill & Javon. He shares some really interesting insight in the video :)
Michael stayed ahead of the game, the media spewed lies, and some fell for the lies.I don't usually use the word "hate", but I hate the evilness, lies and deceit that was thrown Michael's way ,and I truly believe that Dr Murray was a part of that circle...my opinion! What a great interview! Amazing job! Amazing person to interview! I don't think anybody can top this man's memories! And Kevin is 100% correct about the music industry today. Hopefully he'll have a part in bringing music back! Thank you Red!

Great talk and also on a serious note of how people can be excluded for various reasons… without real explanation. The music industry needs to come back to shinier days and talent needs to be recognized, not excluded. I’m also talking from personal experience on this matter. Besides that, great seeing Kevin again and you Red did a great job with your subtle and adaptable approach - very nice to see a young lad acting old fashioned and professional 🌟
This was an excellent interview! Thanks Red for an amazing interview with Kevin Dorsey. I used to wonder who this gentleman was that I saw on Michael's tours. It is great seeing interviews with the people who worked closely with Michael.
Red thank you for these amazing unheard and unknown stories of the Amazing people such as the great Kevin Dorsey that were in or around and worked with the King Of Pop Michael Jackson! great interview with Kevin Dorsey he truly gave a insightful look into the behind the scenes as well as on the stage in front of the world! this is just epic stories that needed to be heard and thank you for making this happen!
I knew something was wrong. I just knew it after his passing and Michael’s family spoke about everything after his passing. It seemed they (label) were out to put Michael in a place that wasn’t a good one. The doctor failed miserably of caring for Michael, and the new staff they had come in when Michael didn’t want new staff, he didn’t want new dancers, new backup singers etc. He wanted the same he has always had and trusted all these years before his passing. Michael didn’t want change if it came under the hammer without him being the one not holding the hammer. We all knew that, being hard core fans of his and following his career for so long. There’s been too many things being said over the years that always seemed suspicious. There was a video a while ago released about Michael saying weird things whilst under the care of the Doctor - I call him Doctor Death, I think it was Michael’s family that came out later saying Michael was saying things along the lines of “they’re trying to kill me”. “I’m worth more dead than alive”. Idk why this wasn’t looked into further when Michael was alive and it wasn’t seriously. I think it was classed as Michael ranting under the influence of the pain medication he was on at the time. There was also video recordings of Michael speaking with slurred speech whilst under the medication. Idk who leaked these recordings, or how they came about being out there after his passing… but in my opinion I think it’s absolutely disgusting how Michael was treated in life and in death. How dare this happen to one of the most kind hearted persons humanity has ever encountered. I just get so upset even now thinking of this. Kevin, you’re such an awesome person to give us insight what we always knew was right about Michael and how they treated him. I wish he was with us still, we all miss him greatly as i’m sure you do the most having to know him personally and having worked with him for so many years. The void in our hearts can never be filled now… sadly Michael is with us in spirit and in his music and memories. Thank you for sharing your experience and talking openly. He will always be missed greatly, even generations to come. Michael You are the true KING…. ❤❤❤
I love this man his part is so awesome- love his rap. Sounded so perfect with MJ voice and..love the choreography with MJ,Eddie,Jamie,Levelle,Randy. Love this guy..Whitney !!! Aretha!! Whitney music got me through alot in MJ plus great music to dance to and learn moves. I know why him and the jacksons work 2gather perfectionist
That Princess Charles and Diana story sums up a lot of that relationship. Princess Di was her own women and you can see in the video of them meeting and presenting a check how insecure Princess Charles was.
Janet does the same as regards to Lip sync. I remember the Velvet Rope Tour and it was the last song and it started and Janet was live but the vocal was shaky and low. She looked stage right and did a hand signal and suddenly her vocals were there. My best friend and I always debated if it was just a bad Mic or a lip sync issue.
Janet has no voice only glitters she s here bc of mj , she turned her back on him use him when it s good 4 her , I used to like her before social media and I realized how manipulative she was still is , mj stopped talking to his family he left his home to hide in a friend's house until his wonderful family came after him , they took Catherine to bring mj back bc she was his weakness. They were asking money , the jacksons sold mj , Janet used her body and mjs work and his fame to be where she is but fans are blind.
This was hard, but it's exactly what I needed to hear...the Truth. Thank you, Kevin Dorsey for your unwavering respect and care for MJ to the end. Thank you, Red. Michael remains SO LOVED and he lives on in his music and in our hearts FOREVER.
kevin says the lip syncs only lasted like 30 secs but theres lotsa songs on history tour, where over 75 percent to90 of the song is clearly lip synched,
Thank you for this confirmation and transparent interview with Kevin. I still believe this was a corporate execution for his masters and all these figures brought in to replace his successful band and production. I hate MJ was taken advantage of and when of his great charms was his weakness in trusting the untrustworthy that flourish in all walks of life but especially music industry.
Learned so much from both of this! I was a BIG MJ fan growing up an 80s kid! This is a crazy! So much if I truly believe at the end. Everybody had opinions. But he was the epitome of Live performing! And never the same since! I too have only seen bits of This is It - as a few other bands that lost mates! A huge rock n roll fan of the 80! Also his bit about todays artist soooo agree!! Nice job! Rest In Peace Michael! Could you imagine him at Sphere?!❤🎸
it is just a bit sad to hear that lie about the lip sync… i mean we have access to so many amateur recordings and we all know how much he used it, so neglecting it in front of everyone like that is a bit sad. for the rest, great interview!!
I'm so happy I finally got to confirm what I believed to be true .. as I was there in the Royal Box at Wembley Stadium when Michael performed Dirty Diana .. I was sitting 5 rows behind Diana & Charles & when the song began she whispered to Charles sat on the edge of her chair & rocked to the song .. yet in later interviews Michael claims to have not sung Dirty Diana that night .. but he definitely did!! .. why did he lie? .. Kevin explains here that Charles initially asked him not to .. so Michael made his own narrative of the event .. because he was Michael Jackson & he could do anything he wanted🔥🌟❤️
Regarding the lip syncing it's evident that it was used in The Dangerous tour & more heavily so in The History Tour. What I would have loved to hear even if it was lip synched how Michaels voice would have sounded at that point in this career. Take The Off The Wall Medley in The History Tour. Vocals were clearly taken from the original album recording. What I would have loved to hear, even if it was lip synched Michael re-recording his vocals for those particular track much like he did with Startin Something when Akon covered it. Imagine hearing Billie Jean in The History Tour with his 96, 97 voice. He even recorded Janet's part in Scream which I thought was awesome.
It was used on the bad tour too and almost every one off performance at award shows ect.. was always mirred with playback. No idea why Kevin is covering it up
Wow Wanna Start ...love it ! I agree with Songs with meaning ..man in the mirror ,earth song, heal the world and many more new and old .. human nature was my least because it was slow i changed my mind because MJ's voice so amazing. Love Siedah amazing singer. Love when she was on Kids Incorporated and song with MJ. I heard its very important 4 singers to save their voice and drink things like honey and whatever.
Wow what a beautiful person and heartfelt interview thank you for opening up and giving a glimpse of your life. Im as old as MJ would have been now and still learning so much of the extreme work and love he was trying to tell the world😊its sad the world does not have him still trying to tell a world it's going in the opposite direction of what Michael and so many of us said God needs us to show.
That canceled HBO special was really going to be special if it would've turned into fruition. Obviously same with this is it.. Michael's creative genius the future literally had to wait for the new technology for what he wanted to do he was just too open minded childlike imagination just rose and the adult people that leads could not fathom and could not do that's why there were so many different Debates / creative differences because he was just too creative and people did not have the faith or the brain power to do so.
Michael sings Dances performs he leaves his hear n soul, blood and bones on that stage for his audience for around 2 - 3 hour concert. I mean he did it for 50 years As a professional entertainer He has to sing lip sync somewhere people for a breathing break. That's why the concerts are up and down. Absolutely not a negative thing this is Michael Jackson not no regular artist or mili vanilli...geez
@@codychavarria6088 No show lasted that length. The amount of time MJ was on stage was under 2 hours each night. The shows ran 2-2 1/2 hours but that includes breaks, the band jam mid tour which often ran for 15 minutes or more, intro to kick the show off (example toaster for dangerous tour), history teaser on the history tour to name a few which all bring MJs total on stage timer.
This is it would of been amazing with the original band of michael it's a shame these evil guys took over and hide it all from michael jackson it's sad 😪🤍🕊
I agree that This Is It would’ve been excellent if all the original band members who worked with MJ stayed on, as well as having the new team as well. It could’ve been MJ’s greatest concert! thank you, sir......at 40:00...i mean some people were hired as director and...but my God...He had a vision.....but they think their visions were more important...speaks volume about hiring.....
It's 2024 ..just touched on how Mr.Kevin how he viewed Michael's last days with AEG or this last call. ' This is it ' ...such sad to know about it ...but thanks to Kevin for his warm thoughts about the ' legendary Icon '
I like Dorsey and the stuff he was doing on stage with Mike, but I hated his old school way of rapping the Jam rap verse....it sounded so Run DMC which was not suitable for a song like "Jam" in the 90's.
Obviously he's trying to back MJ with the whole lip syncing thing, but every piece of audio I've ever heard from the history tour the backing vocals are also muted and everything is studio, dont think that was a glitch. I know he was a perfectionist, but that's just too far, making them put all that work in just to be tracked. I wish that he understood that people don't pay to go to concerts to hear the same exact thing on the album they already have at home.
Ok so going by the televised or videotaped concerts (essentially anything available to watch), it's clear that Michael mimed more and more as time went by and he got older. They slowed the songs right down too. Compare the Billie Jean of the Victory Tour to the one on History. The former is on steroids, History is played back at regular speed (if not slower). On the Bad tour he comes out of the gates singing WBSS live - in Dangerous it is quite obviously the backing track of Jam, the recorded version that you can hear on the album playing. So I'm not sure what he's talking about when he says stuff was only played back when Jackson needed a quick break. In the Dangerous tour many songs were mimed, and in History pretty much everything was. I'll get people arguing with me but just watch the concerts.
Ok so mj himself said in an interview that he decided not to do dirty Diana and that, even know process Diana wanted him to, they couldn’t put the song back into the show as it was too close to showtime. Yet, this man here is saying that they did do the song? I’m confused
I always thought it sounded weird that they couldn't put it back in the setlist with short notice. It was a regular number performed every night, it wasn't like it needed rehearsals.
They did perform that song that night. I don't remember Michael saying they didn't. But they did remove The Way You Make Me Feel that night because the show started late.
@@liamgreig8393 I remember him saying that he removed it cause he didn't want to offend her but added it back due to her request. Never remembered him say they never put it back.
I think whenever MJ used lip-sync in his shows it would be immediately obvious. Unfortunately by the HIStory tour only about a third of the show would be live singing.
But then why did they choose to edit munich 97 so heavily? You can clearly tell wanna be starting something and only 30 seconds of billie jean beat it and all of the jackson 5 stuff was live vocals. Me myself I prefer the format of the dangerous world tour because if they'res any playback at all you really can't tell what so ever. Even this is it seemed to bring back the dangerous model and as a ticket holder I couldn't wait. I can totally understand Michael using playback for few shows but then why use it all the way in 97 on a concert footage. You can tell when this guy sings background he's a true deep voice.if anything I don't mean this to be mean he made the situation more confusing because I think he may have been referring to bad or dangerous tour.
Well, he lip-syncs the whole HIStory setlist, except for the Jackson 5 medley and Wanna Be Startin'. Kevin is saying that he used 30 seconds max, which is not true.
Hard to understand though if he got turned away at the gate and told Michael had a change of heart, that Michael would not have realized Kevin wasn’t there and asked where he was. I mean Ken Ortega and AEG would have to explain why Kevin wasn’t there. Maybe Michael did have a change of heart because he knew deep down he wasn’t going to go through with TII tour.
You should have pressed him more on the lyp-Sync. They clearly used Lip-Sync for many many songs. Michael never once sang Earth song live or they don't care about us
I didn't need a vocal director to tell me this. You can easily watch his performances and compare the audio. He lip-synced a majority of performances and it's ok. I don't get why we have to discredit him. He was a top tier performer, no one can do what he did and not lip-sync.
Red thank you for the videos you share about Michael Jackson, our undisputed King of Pop no matter how bad the vicious media and businessmen destroy his image. It is 2023 and he is till irreplaceable.
It's been said that MJ said something to the effect of "I just want my band back" during TII prep before he passed.
So does this mean the reports of him wanting new talent band wise was a lie or did he just mean he wants what made his previous bands so good?
@@f10pped36 AEG scrapped out the old band. AEG just wanted to introduce "new" peoples to have a bigger influence on Michael.
1st or 2nd show😮
I totally agree with Kevin, music is not what it was.
@@ajw2308 I have wondered the same thing..Why weren't Bill and Javon (bodyguards he had in Vegas)..Doesn't make sense
Red Jackson I recommend this to be a book. It reveals something most precious about Michael.
Michael stayed ahead of the game, the media spewed lies, and some fell for the lies.I don't usually use the word "hate", but I hate the evilness, lies and deceit that was thrown Michael's way ,and I truly believe that Dr Murray was a part of that circle...my opinion!
I miss Michael everyday, and although there are imitators of M J., they'll NEVER be another Michael Jackson.🎤♥️
What a great interview! Amazing job! Amazing person to interview! I don't think anybody can top this man's memories! And Kevin is 100% correct about the music industry today. Hopefully he'll have a part in bringing music back! Thank you Red!
I just found your channel today. I’m a huge MJ fan and you do a great job and ask interesting questions. Thank you I’ll be watching
Loved this amazing interview! And he was on all of MJ’s solo World Tours loved seeing Kevin and I believe he was the one doing the “Ha!,Come On!,Get It Mike!” During MJ’s performances of “Billie Jean”🙌🏽✨✨✨💯
Yes, I believe that was Kevin! Thanks for watching! I’m glad you enjoyed. Please subscribe to my channel, it’s free and really helps the channel grow 🙏💫👍
Yea it's him, munich 1997 multitracks prove it
Well done, Red! Great to hear from Kevin. Some eye openers here for me!
Thank you again Red for this very informative interview. Looking forward of listening more from MJJ band. I enjoy watching your videos.
Once again Red, thank you so much for posting another great conversation 👏👏🙏
It’s my pleasure! Thank you ever so much for watching! Please share it on social media, it really helps. Stay tuned too, my next interview is with Darrick Morgan, MJ’s body double for over a decade!
Awesome interview MJ’s band mates are a very intriguing part of his World Tours and you remember most of them cause of things they’ve done with MJ on stage etc. and I’ll def never forget Kevin he always was great on stage and gave MJ that energy whenever he appeared him & Greg Phillinganes🌟💯

You've also spouted how Michael Jackson was in perfect shape for this is it 😂 your word means very little
It was so nice to meet Mr dorsey in london he's such sweet person

Thanks so much to you and Kevin for taking the time to do this. It really is enriching to know such detailed info. Amazing to me how after decades we can still learn more and have continued experiences that come from the original performances. The productions always capture my imagination no matter how many times I watch them. So much refined talent. Their teamwork changed the world. This was just great. Completely fresh feelings to think about now!

On the Bad Tour. Michael only tracked Smooth Criminal then came back in on the vamp. Then Bad the same thing. Then the closing Man in the Mirror also the same. He came in on the vamp.

Those scumbags medicated Mj so they could have full control over him. I feel sorry for all his old band mates who truly had his best interest at heart
Red Jackson, you are doing an amazing job .. keep going :-D

@@RedJacksonDance Matt Forger, John Barnes, or Bill Bottrell, who worked with MJ at his home studio.
Amazing interview keep em coming
Will do! Thanks so much. Stay tuned for a livestream on 11th of Feb with MJ’s body double!

Red! Im your new subscriber, you re doing amazing interviews, thanks for your job!
wow i didnt know that Marva passed away. So much info in this great job again sire
What a sympathetic man and artist.
it is just a bit sad to hear that lie about the lip sync… i mean we have access to so many amateur recordings and we all know how much he used it, so neglecting it in front of everyone like that is a bit sad. for the rest, great interview!!
No idea why Kevin is covering it up
@@mrpussinboots4252 he was even using lip sync way back in the 80s performing only one song at a time. Think he just preferred to use lip sync.
'When you are creating perfection, time doesn't exist.'🎉
Love your interviews.
I'd like to have MJ himself. ❤ Then no need for material memorabilia, he'd be Live. 😘 💋 👍Luv U Michael.
Indeed! And about “This is it” i heard they forced him to have 50 times show !!!
Insane!!! 😢
MJs concert never ran for 3 hours 😂😂😂
@@mrpussinboots4252 2.5 to 2 hours 45 min so yes
@@codychavarria6088 No show lasted that length. The amount of time MJ was on stage was under 2 hours each night. The shows ran 2-2 1/2 hours but that includes breaks, the band jam mid tour which often ran for 15 minutes or more, intro to kick the show off (example toaster for dangerous tour), history teaser on the history tour to name a few which all bring MJs total on stage timer.
@mrpussinboots4252 regardless, the point is, its still a huge show and him giving high performance at a high level.
Great stuff KEVIN DORSEY

About the lip-sync i have always the sensation that not even his background singers knew he was using playback instead of singing.....
His background singers could likely hear MJ still singing live along with the track
Wait, so Jonathan Moffet and Tommy Organ where the only one not replaced or?
Yes. Everyone Kevin chose for the band was replaced, except for Jonathan Moffett & Tommy Organ :-)
@@RedJacksonDance Wow, but why I can’t understand
I like Dorsey and the stuff he was doing on stage with Mike, but I hated his old school way of rapping the Jam rap verse....it sounded so Run DMC which was not suitable for a song like "Jam" in the 90's.
I love the "5 minute later" from things l do for you
Yes!!
I don't what's the fuss about the lip-sync but this was a great interview, very interesting points. 👍
i remember you, i used to follow you
Me?
A great video
Simple answer YES
I hope this cleared uo any lip sync rumors
No he didn't lip sync, he had the voice of an angel!! ❤
No, he did lip sync, Each tour he lip-sync'ed more and more .. that's just a plain fact.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I honestly don't give a rats asshole what anyone thinks of Michael Jackson because they're losers and jealous 😂 HE WAS AND STILL IS THE GREATEST!!!!!!
@@dawngrimes7361 You're in denial if you believe he didn't lip sync.
I'm just glad he got to pass by sleeping away and hopefully didn't have lot's of pain.
Not like they did whit Lady Di...😓
Ok so mj himself said in an interview that he decided not to do dirty Diana and that, even know process Diana wanted him to, they couldn’t put the song back into the show as it was too close to showtime. Yet, this man here is saying that they did do the song? I’m confused
I always thought it sounded weird that they couldn't put it back in the setlist with short notice. It was a regular number performed every night, it wasn't like it needed rehearsals.
They put it back into the show for sure. The show has become public.
They did perform that song that night. I don't remember Michael saying they didn't. But they did remove The Way You Make Me Feel that night because the show started late.
@@potpotmixes ok well if you look up Michael Jackson talks about meeting princess diana you’ll see it
@@liamgreig8393 I remember him saying that he removed it cause he didn't want to offend her but added it back due to her request. Never remembered him say they never put it back.
I think whenever MJ used lip-sync in his shows it would be immediately obvious. Unfortunately by the HIStory tour only about a third of the show would be live singing.
😭😭😭 ...obviously something went very wrong...
Everybody knows what "they" did to mj..
Michael never once sang Earth song live or they don't care about us
Now that’s not true he has sung earth song live
When ? I cant find any where he sung them live @@NostalgicQueenVixen
Yes. He was the king of lipsyncing 😂😂😂
I didn't need a vocal director to tell me this. You can easily watch his performances and compare the audio. He lip-synced a majority of performances and it's ok. I don't get why we have to discredit him. He was a top tier performer, no one can do what he did and not lip-sync.
The imperative aspect in being a performer is live singing.
