I was thinking of Nydus'ing drones/army out, but it's the same idea. If the opponent drops over 2k resources on a spot that early, you can expand 3 times and rebuild all your tech for an "even" trade.

One can argue that the zerg player didn't make the best decisions, but I think that makes it even more impressive. Even as his attempts to bust the proxy wall-in initially failed, the zerg player doesn't throw a fit.

@@volkspanzer8444 i dont know if it was the decision-making or the micro. I dont think banelings are a good response to a cannon rush or proxy, i think roach/ravager is 1000x better, but it probably wouldve worked just fine if hed microed the first bust attempt better.

    At game start guesses:
1: lol because it has to be one of them and I'm thinking of that insincere laughter people do when they want to pretend they aren't taking the game seriously, but then take it weirdly seriously.
2: stringfellow. Just leaning toward the person with words in their name.
3: Snake. Only because I'd hope someone with cheese in their name is too jaded to wild games to still be getting mad at any of them.
4: Magna. Kinda rooting for the underdog because that would make this comment less mediocre if I'm right :D (but any reasonable person should guess GrumpyDwarf)
    After game commentary:
1: What the heck? Too mad for even pretending to laugh holy geez.
    2. I'm glad I made that guess at game start because I absolutely changed my mind during it.
3: ...I was proven wrong even before I was done typing up my reasoning.
4: The moment I saw the Hatch cancel, I knew I guessed wrong haha.

Depending on the sport, yes, it objectively isn't fair. Easiest example is chess, where white has a half pawn advantage because they move first. It's significant enough at a high level that they often play 2 games, with the players switching sides to make it fairer.
Another option is tennis, where the person who serves has an advantage, because they are in control of the ball from the start.
Usually in team sport's the actual strenght of the team isn't considered as much, because at high levels the teams tend to be fairly similar, and it's a question of playing around the areas where the enemy team has that slight advantage, such as avoiding scums in rugby when you know the opponent has more muscle in the scrum, and playing to yours, like forcing scums when you know you have more muscle in them.

The thing about sports for me is influenced by my time playing chess in tournaments. In those, you have some control over how tough you want it. At big events, I would always play the Open divisions and willingly take on impossible matches without a care. But in class restricted tournaments, the expectation was that everyone would be within a general rating range and smurfs were hated universally.
StarCraft ladder (and other ladder games) pretends to be class divided and in reality the players have less morals or sportsmanship, so they subvert the ladder as a matter of course and people just have to deal with it. Subversion of expectations causes a lot of salt.

It's funny because I do actually play sport and you totally tilt in the same ways and actually the other day I found myself getting really wound up about the game being unfair (our team was just worse than the other team and it wasn't very fun because of it and I was getting very frustrated because it was unfair). I guess the point there though is not that we lost, its that I just felt like there wasn't really a game to have fun with because we had no answer for their team. That's often how sc feels. I've struggled with lurkers since forever and even knowing how to counter them and what you're supposed to do, I'll still be doing ok in a game and mismicro some ghosts once and lose them all, but now I know that it's just my mistake that cost me the game, not any kind of imbalance, whereas when I didn't know how to counter them before, I felt the same feeling I felt during that sports game. Its just unfair what am I supposed to do about this, but in sports its totally valid to say, well you're just better/ bigger/ stronger than me so there is no point in us competing. Just like weight classes/ gender separation etc. The goal is to make the game even and when it feels uneven, it stops being fun. The realisation though is that it's not your opponents fault, but yours helps you to redirect the anger.
Accepting that you're imperfect and can improve, whether at Sc, sports or even life in general , and that failing is just an opportunity to improve has massively changed my outlook on things.

No, people care when athletes use anabolics and other dopes to gain an unfair advantage. Was this post just an excuse to virtue signal?

@@p_serdiukwe were talking about variation in human bodies though? Then again you're talking about "virtue signaling" so I don't think I should engage more than that

@@Laezar1 We were talking about unfair advantages. Having a body that has way more androgens in it than the opponents do on average is an unfair advantage because of their anabolic activity. Whether those androgens are synthetic or natural is irrelevant. And there is an entire list of other varieties of doping agents that are prohibited. Otherwise, yes, there is some natural variation between people.
