This video was kindly sent to me by Miguel, the friend Daniel mentions in the video. Miguel and I are fellow members of the "Hill Street Blues T.V. show fan club!" Facebook group.
He's aging well and and sounds the same as we remember him. So gracious and self effacing. Not your average Hollywood celebrity, eh?
During my senior high school years in the mid 1980's I used to stay up late, studying. I'd invariably finish around 1 or 2am then would watch an episode of Hill Street Blues to wind down and de-stress.
Over the years I came to love the show and all its characters. As the years passed, I started noticing many of the groundbreaking techniques of the show being used again and again, especially cop shows, like #NYPDBlue.
Hill Street Blues needs to be rediscovered. It was one of the best tv shows of all time.
He may not have written it, but he sure as hell was its heart and soul. I can't imagine anyone else playing Captain Furillo, and I don't care to try.
I just watched the entire series start to finish, it’s a masterpiece. A turning point in television, to be sure. Great characters, Captain Furillo was terrific.
The best serie ever made and you Mr.Travanti are brilliant actor. The show was very popular here in Finland. Thank you for all the good moments I've had watching it.
Salute to you Pizza Man!! You are one of my favorite actors! Awesome role!
Grand daddy of all the modern police tv shows.
Greetings from Ireland. Daniel J Travanti, In Ireland Hill Street blues was popular in Ireland.
A terrific actor. I wear three piece suits because Captain Frank Furillo made them commonplace! Best to you, Mr. Travanti.
Daniel.. you totally underestimate the love that there is out here for you and the show. I'm 67 now and remember it like yesterday.
Peace to you sir and mega respect..... plus tax. 🖖
Love the show. Really enjoyed the characters, especially Capt Furillo played by the remarkable Daniel J. Travanti.
I am watching it for the very first time on Hulu.
@@111danish111 you'll love it. It was a great cop show. It was on originally while I was a junior in high school 1981 and for 7 seasons. 1st and second seasons Dvd's are available.
He looks fantastic! I grew up loving Hill Street Blues. Saw him play recurring characters or as a guest star in other shows such as Prison Break, Grey's Anatomy and Chicago Med. But you should all see his portrayal of former KGB Nikita Aleksandr Reznikov on NCIS Los Angeles (as the father to Chris O'Donnell's character, Grisha Akesandrovich Reznikov Callen). Such presence and unforgettable performance! Be well, be blessed and stay awesome, Mr. Travanti. Thank you for all that you do!
I was in my teens & never watched Hill Street. I was very aware of it but just never watched it. I decided to buy a season of it on dvd recently to watch and was hooked! Bought the entire series. Great great show!
What a great actor! We are so proud of your work. I still watch the show weekly. Thank you for sharing your talents! James & Florence
Hill Street Blues and St. Elsewhere really transformed and transcended their genres. They found new way to do cop & hospital shows.
Capt Furillo held a tight ship on the Hill and kept the gangs in line.
I Am italian, and remember you in the show: Hill street blues( in Italy, hill street day and night) . I seen all the episodes .Beautiful cast. Congratulation!!!
One of the only shows l never missed an episode on and Captain Furillo was my favorite character. I went to Chicago and went to the Maxwell Street Station there l was honored to stand on the front steps of the station exactly where l saw Captain Furillo stand on one of the episodes. Wish l could meet you and shake your hand. Thanks for the memories l have on DVD Daniel. 😊
That must have been a surreal experience
Top man
Daniel: good to see you. Great actor, outstanding performances. I saw you in the first tv movie of Adam and it really caused me something very very deep in my heart. Something undescribible. I Was 13. April 1990. That tv movie was released in 1983. Millennium, 1989: great sci-fi film. Missing persons tv series of 1993. I hope GOD always bless you. All my affection
Love you Dan! All the best!
Still to this day, the best show of all time.I was in junior high when this show started and even then I knew this show was special. I am now now 56 and I still love it.
You’re welcome. You were wonderful
It would be great if he did a meet and greet. Does he ever attend the cons?
Oh MANY people love you Daniel !!!!!! I'm in Indiana, so close to you :) Hope to meet you some day. It would be a thrill. Hill Street Blues was my favorite show, and you had much to do with that. Glad to see your doing well.
