I arrived at Tokyo 3 days ago alone and while there is plenty to do, it became exhausting pretty fast and started to put myself under Pressure to go out alone, thank you so much for doing this video, after watching it I booked two pub crawls, one in Osaka where im heading to tommorow, and in Tokyo before I have to leave for my Flight back home, this maybe saved my trip, so thank you from the bottom of my Heart!!!
I love Roppongi but it isn't for me. I like midtown better as its more chill and relax. These pubs are a place where foreigners compete with each other to hookup with girls. I almost got into a fight at one of the clubs there because of it.
There were less foreigners in Tokyo, but Roppongi was a magnet for them and young Japanese females so it was rammed. It must have been the easiest place to find female company on the planet. The bars just left off Gaien Higashi Dori up from Roppongi Crossing were packed. The bar scene has changed so much now. I did a Googlemap tour of it a while back, and nowhere was as it used to be. It's a pity I can't post an attachment because I am trying to get a Roppongo based crime novel (the first of a trilogy) set in 1990 (hence my user name) published at the moment, and at the beginning of it I include an author's notes section which details the layout as it used to be. If you want it, you'll have to give me an email.

Les Grossman I was living there 92 -97 good times, very hard to go home after work, I worked in Tokyo Dome, money was a bit tight, so good fun bar hoping for ¥300 happy hr drinks, we always started off in Henry Africa, cheers.
best bar i went to in roppongi was Propaganda. The owner and staff were so cool and funny, and we met some crazy awesome characters there too. the vibes were so good! i 10/10 recommend propaganda bar

Those bars I think you're talking about are great, you get to sit with the girls who work there & they're all over you, you just have to buy them a glass of wine which they charged you $40 for, ended up being expensive but it's worth it especially as that's about the only time anyone will ever get to be with a woman in Japan (especially if you're not Japanese) I just wished the woman who worked there were actually Japanese
I'm both interested and not interested in Roppongi. When I go to new cities I am always interested in seeing the seedier parts of it to get a feel how ghetto's differ in cities, unless it's way too dangerous of course. From what I seen, it seems like I can handle Roppongi with no issue. I been too and lived in some rough areas in cities in the U.S. (Bronx, Brooklyn in NYC, Camden in New Jersey, West Palm Beach in Florida, Detroit to name a few). On the other hand, Roppongi is not the type of place I would want to spend most of my time in Japan. Unfortunately, since I don't know much Japanese and don't have have any friends in Japan, I'll stop by there just to at least experience it for myself. I'll also be alone so that should be fun and interesting. Also, if its easier to hook up, I'm ALL IN.

Also, I agree it is a place to go once in awhile but not make it your hangout all the time. That is why I go to the pub crawl once every few months or so.

David Austin my mate punched a Yakuza member ,unwittingly , and when he returned to the same establishment a week later the same Yakuza was there with his mates and they got my friend and held him down and did something to his arm that broke it , then just walked off, Tokyo in the 90's

Roppongi is more like a red light district, a few good clubs, but they are off the main strip.
