    My guess is they left this out because they already had one vision quest/spirit walk episode with the Guru... but honestly this sounds much better than that episode was. Aang actually confronting and conflicting with his past lives rather than with a piece of handed down wisdom from an impassive teacher feels much more lively.

    Frankly an avatar that never dies, would be one that would constantly have to adjust to changing times, and one that would have to go through so much sadness and hardships seeing all the darkness and evil through the times and adding to memories, not to mention the losses of beloved friends. It would take away everything the Avatar is meant to represent and protect. They’d soon become an empty shell and probably lose faith in humanity faster than we do in reality. Their duty to protect would just become a soulless obligation to them. They may even find it harder to make friends because people wouldn’t see the Avatar as a fellow person.
    So Yang Chen has a point. While yes that story may be interesting to explore on its own I think it’s better for the Avatar to be human.

      Kyoshi was the closest we've gotten to that. Except, the world didn't advance technologically that much during her lifetime. Imagine if Kyoshi was the Avatar at age 230 (or 483 had she was born 312 BG and just never died) in 171 AG instead of Korra, I think she would've been a different person. I can see why they didn’t actually make it. The whole episode is just kinda redundant and I think it over explains things. It’s better that we see Aang struggling after he wakes up rather than have it explained to the audience that his avatar state is damaged. No one went into the next season expecting Aang to just be fine, he literally died while in the avatar state, we don’t need it explained the audience already understands that Aang is in trouble. Also it makes no sense that Aang should think the avatar should be a spirit, the avatar MUST be both human and spirit because they are the bridge between the two worlds. If you take away the human part what would be the point of having an avatar? He was raised by the monks, he should understand the value of the avatar being human. Plus the shiny stone turning off the avatar state was just silly.
    If they wanted to stick another episode in there it would be a better idea to focus on Katara struggling with her feelings over what went down in BSS and her relationship with Aang. The setting would be the wilderness far outside BSS the next day after the battle. Soka is paranoid, Appa is exhausted, Toph is angry, Aang is unconscious, the king is confused by the outside world.
    Katara brought her friend back to life after a grueling fight and had a moment where she trusted and felt for Zuko. We should see her feel guilt and hurt that she trusted someone from the fire nation and he betrayed her trust. How about guilt over almost using her spirit water on someone who betrayed them (which would have definitely caused Aang to die). I would rely on flashbacks to Katara’s mother and her childhood memories of the fire nation juxtaposited with taking care of Aang and talking with Toph about how she could trust Iroh. Soka having an opposing story where he is just trying to figure out where to go and what they have to do next. The king learning he doesn’t really understand what the world outside the walls is like (explaining his desire to travel later). It would be a small episode, almost a bottle episode taking place just as this little camp and in Katara’s memories.

However, motivations and the ambition of their existence was lost to time by Long Fang and later government which actually does happen in real life. Sometimes, organisations are formed or founded for good intentions, but overtime, they could lose their way and become corrupt.
      And besides, why blame Kyoshi for training the Dai Li herself when she most likely trained the first Kyoshi Warriors herself, too? I mean, look at them. @@deoxal7947 Kurruk actually did very much.... just not directly for the people. As far as my knowledge goes, he speant a great deal of his time looking after the spirit world as he had his opsession with his dead wife. So he didn't show himself much in public and was very secluded. I belive this was even mentioned in the show, though it could have also been one of the comics. And so the next Avatar had to deal more with the human conflicts and so on and so forth. So I would say they do actually fix their past lifes and kinda create challenges in one way or another for their next lol.

    I like this. The avatars all seem to reside in the spirit world and if the next show will be about regaining connection, the avatar can simply roam around there until they find their past lives, little by little. The new avatar may have difficulty finding them because of the lost connection, but they're still there. They could try and go for Kuruk for example, because it's a simple assumption that he's somewhere near Koh's nest. I really do hope that Raava can somehow sense them anyway though but for some reason just didn't tell Korra.

    There is one phenomenally big plot hole in the series: It is asserted multiple times in _The Last Airbender_ and _The Legend of Korra_ both as relevant plot points that the Avatar will not reincarnate should he die in the Avatar state. How would they know this? Especially with certainty!? As if it had happened before. As if it had happened before multiple times! However, by the mere consequence, it cannot have happened even once.
    So, it would be fine if it were presented as a likely and plausible risk that no Avatar should take lightly.

  • @tierefuerimmer9635
    @tierefuerimmer9635 2 года назад +2

    The Avatar fans whining about Korra and even going as far as to blame her for losing her connections to her past lives should watch this- all Avatars are human and make mistakes. And for her losing Raava that was never Korra's fault and she had absolutely no idea that her uncle would pull such a dirty trick! Plus the consistent theme in LOK was Korra having a very naive concept of being the Avatar and lacking social skills due to having a very sheltered upbringing and the enemies she faced always an unfair advantage which gave her an extremely tough reality check and forced her to mature

    • @tierefuerimmer9635
      @tierefuerimmer9635 2 года назад

    This makes a lot of sense. Roku says in Season 2 that if you die during the Avatar state, you'll break the Avatar cycle completely. Then Aang tells Katara at the beginning of Season 3 that she didn't just heal him, she brought him back, he was gone. It seems like they were going to set up that Aang couldn't connect with the Avatar state because he 'died', but then they just blamed it on a blocked chakra and dropped this whole subplot until Legend of Korra.

    This means Korea should be able to reconnect with her past lives too as spirits in the spirit world

      I think that may not be possible, or rather it shouldn’t. Rava basically had to be reborn and start a fresh Avatar cycle. However, even the writers know that the absolute worst story you can have for a future Avatar is to basically have a split personality or have Korra’s voice in their head, so they’ll find some way to bring them all back.
