    Sir Alonne's moveset might not be as broad, but what makes him unique is his variable attack timings and combinations which make this fight heavily reaction-based. Each DLC has it's own gimmicks for traversal. Sunken King had the switches with the raising platforms and rotating gates. Old Iron King had a more vertical design layout and the scepter you had to collect to power up the elevators. Ivory King also has a few gimmicks for level progression up its sleeve. If something in it seems impossibly difficult, consider you might be missing something. Except the "Frigid Outskirts," that's supposed to be frozen hell on Earth, _literally_ , it's the place of punishment for those who were exiled.

You seem to really enjoy bosses like Sir Alonne or Gwyn in which it's really almost like a dance, you learn the moves, adapt, and evolve. And I think Sekiro is CHOCK FULL of fights like that. Easily my personal favorite FromSoft game (hell, even my favorite game of the past 5 years, maybe even 10) and even though I'm excited to see DS3 next (cause it'll surely win a poll for it), I'll be here through it. People complain about the runbacks n difficulty n stuff, but I think really, it is the fact every player has had to deal with the same issues and challenges that makes the Souls community so good, and has created such a cult classic - so classic it has pretty much spawned a genre.
    If it was just bonfires outside boss-rooms throughout DS1/2/3, I really don't think some of the victories would hit as hard, and people wouldn't have such emotional responses to actually winning.
    (Same applies to everything from awful runbacks, to swarms of BS mobs, difficult bosses, and even areas like Shrine of Amana - it is the size of the struggle that creates such a great feeling once you pass it -- also is why there should never be a difficulty option imo.)

      Sekiro was the best for this for me - some bosses were a little easy having played all the previous Souls, but I reckon some of them are up there in the list of 'hardest bosses From has ever made', but in a skilful way - EG; Elden Ring had some tough fights but some felt a bit bullshit at times (double bosses with complimentary movesets, homing attacks, extremely aggressive bosses with very small windows to attack, etc), whereas with Sekiro, dying feels like the fault of the player, not the fault of the boss. You die because you slip up, not because two bosses have attacks that stunlock you to death or something.

In SoTFS, it is still a shortcut but hardest to cross as the enemies show up immediately after using lever blocking whole path and not to mention the bombardment. It makes crossing the path basically a matter of RNG and luck in total chaos. The enemies used to stay in cells before making it really easy

    Ya, Sir Alonne's sword is special. When it penetrates and tastes a vast amount of blood it glows red and gets a damage buff temporarily. If you trade for the weapon you can stab yourself through the midsection to activate the buff with I think it's L2.

    I'm really looking forward to seeing you do Crown of the Ivory King. The dlc is kind of punishing at times but the bosses are great, and the final boss is in my top 3 in DS2 (along with Sir Alonne and Fume Knight) and by far my favorite in terms of lore.

    Praying for deliverance of their souls is a thing, you got 1 in the boss fight, requires 50 in total, each milestone nets you a part of the eleum loyce armor set (the white one), and finally alsanna's soul. You can actually go back in to the chaos to farm knights, it's easier as a phantom, or before killing the boss.
    The charred set can also be obtained by killing the knights.

    Fume Knight and Sir Alone are definitely the best bosses of ds2 but final boss of the last dlc is also pretty good but his "runback" is rather unique (no spoilers, you gotta see it). The bullshit part everyone warned you about is in the multiplayer area of the dlc. The runback to it's boss is what I like to call a "winter ghost horse wonderland" (worst runback in all of the souls games). The boss itself is nothing to write home about so don't feel bad if you decide to skip it.

    • @illusion8457
      @illusion8457 Год назад +1

      DS2 doesn't really have as big of a problem with hitboxes as it does with poor visual representation of how you got hit. If they had Alonne shift more towards you with that attack and made the animation change on the player character more fluid no one would bat an eye. Then anyone could see he just didn't time his roll properly. Most souls games don't punish you for not rolling at the exact right time so it's no wonder people cried about this game's hitboxes so much. If you actually know how to roll, 20 ADP is more than enough to dodge everything in the game, including the blue smelter demon.

    Just watched up to when you beat Blue Smelter Demon. You were confused why the boss's health bar said 15 damage constantly. The 15 damage ticks were Poison. You kept inflicting the Demon with Poison from your Manslayer. The Poison that the Manslayer does is another reason that it's an amazing weapon.

Bought it, beat it, traded it in and didn't look back, which means I never played the DLC. 9 years later, watching you go through it has almost (I say almost) lit a fire in me to give it another chance. Thank you for that, and for all the joy you bring taking us on these journeys with you!!

  • @42Mrgreenman

    Lol, one thing I noticed that tells you that you are really getting a rhythm for the game is that you can call when you are about to get hit and die as soon as the enemy attack animation starts. Noticed it against the Smelter Demon and Sir Alonne, but you're getting close to mastering the game, you just need to hold back on that reflex mashing, it was probably my biggest problem in DS2...You've got to play it safe and smart in many cases to even have a chance...they really like to gank you in this game, especially on NG+ when you get tons of extra red phantoms...

    In terms of boss design Sir Alonne, to me, demarcates a shift towards the philosophy that we would come to see in DS3 and Fromsoftware games thereafter (minus the runback thankfully).
    Most of the bosses (before the DLC) had me disappointed with regard to how unremarkable they felt, not just in terms of the gameplay but also music, arena and narrative context when compared to DS3 (with exceptions such as Looking Galss Knight of course). Sir Allone on the other hand, in terms of his overall presentation, suddenly felt like something out of DS3. Dynamic moveset, incredible boss arena, a placement that has contextual significance, personality in the movement, visual design that fits the boss and memorable score.
    I think Sir Alonne might be the only boss in the game that possesses all of these qualities at once (especially the musical score).

    The blue and red smelter demons do have the same attack patterns yes but red does physical and fire damage and blue does physical and magic and red hits faster but not as hard while blue hits slower but hits harder(varies based on armor, rings, points put into certain stats and so on). As for the wedges and fragments of the soul of Nadalia, you only have two reward choices but can only choose one but neither one will benefit you probably since one is a chime(miracles) and the other is a pyromancy(dark one that's area of effect) so probably best option would be to keep for your collection of boss souls or consume(believe it's 18k souls if I'm correct) but blue smelter soul can be used to get his ultra greatsword which is really nice to get.

    Each smelter wedge lets you acquire another piece of Nadalia's soul, then when you have all the pieces they combine into the complete soul of the Bride of Ash. She's the child of dark for dlc 2 like Elana for dlc 1. As for Crown of the Ivory King dlc the final boss is not as difficult as Fume Knight but is a badass with cool aesthetics and lore like Alonne. Good OST, too, but in a more intimidating way instead of a dance. A lot of people hate the last DLC because of its side-boss gauntlet area (like blue smelter demon/trio boss) but I found it to be the most beautiful and impactful of the crown adventures by a long shot.

  • @BlueAsterismSolstice
    @BlueAsterismSolstice Год назад

    So there's enough smelter wedges for every idol, and then their souls combine into one. Some areas with the fire traps that move, the walls can be exploded open with more wedges for you and more loot. Part of that idea was the guys carrying kegs could be spooked into going there as living tools. There's also a door that can unlock via exploded in the area with the first massive armor foe. Those harmless idols gave iron flesh buff to the enemies. That mask you got would keep you moist for fire resistance. And that Smelter Demon is proof of who that place belonged to and their habits with adding life to iron creations. Sir Alonne was a proud knight who turned on his king, taking his symbols of rulership. This was Alonne's message to what the king would forget about, absorbed in his production of iron might.
