Yes Mr Brown, me2- eager protege’s wanting your know sledge snd skillset! I’m damn sure am waiting on the lessons! Can’t wait to get my new bass n about 2 weeks or less!
Bruh.....of All of the Prince Bassists....you Sir play MOST like him. That's the highest compliment I can give. Two things I can't seem to master as a bassist is that wrap around thumb and that thumb pick thing everyone does. Respect. Respect.
I was 12 years old when this album dropped and I think I bought two cassettes and wore them both out. I'm a guitar player but I would love to have base lessons from the Great Brown Martk. Prince always had awesome band members but I'm sorry I'm just partial to The Revolution, grew up on them and to me they did it all and were of course funky
I personally would be eternally grateful if you could do tutorial/course videos on what you deem important for beginners etc. I'm taking notes. You could literally train/raise the next generation of us. ThankYou for what you do on this planet
I’m going to get back to work. I’ve been sick for quite awhile. Been quiet about it but it almost took me out. I’m getting better and as soon as I can, I’ll be back in the Skillet whipping up some greasy funk 👊🏾
@@BrownMark I'm glad your feeling better. ThankYou for sharing your talents and part of your story with us, looking forward to more content. We still out here. ✌️ 💞 ✊
I want to jam with you Mark , Bruh I love the tutorials. I would love to see Morris Day on Drums, Jesse Johnson on Guitar, and Brown Mark on Bass, now that’s a 3 man Super Group

YESSSIRRRRR !!!!! I'm a guitar player but been learning that slap and just picked up on the pinky and thumb muting vs the double thumb beat Listening to the way u said u played it back in the day is what i'm working on !!!!!! Much love !!!!
Hi Mark. My brother plays bass and all he talks about is Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, Louis Johnson, Bernard Edwards, Marcus Miller, Aaron Mills, Marvin Craig and you. Let me first say that not only are you the best bass player Prince ever had, but in many ways, you are even better than Prince on bass because you're more laid back and in the groove where Prince seemed to have a tendency to do too much sometimes. Anyway, I think you are the VERY BEST teacher of bass online and the answer to your question is HELL YES, you should do a bass course teaching everything from beginner's lessons to what you do on stage. Your style of teaching and your natural inclination to be a people person would make your course FIRE! and my brother would love it. So would millions of people around the world. One last thing.... I seriously think you should put together a new band and get back in the studio with some new music. While we all love the whole Minneapolis sound, I think that your style of playing should be elevated to include more of what you did in this video on the break from 2:15 to 2:45. That 30 second break was so funky I had to go change my panties after watching it. LOL My brother's name is Breeze Canada and we both think you are absolutely GREAT! Thanks for all the videos you post- especially the Cameo "I Just Want To Be" (that ending you adding was just FIRE!). Thanks again and stay Funky.
Thank you 🙏🏾 Such kind words. I’m trying to put something together but the people I went in partnership with flaked on me. Hopefully soon I’ll find new tech engineers to help me finish it. 👍🏾
@@BrownMark Well, if all else fails, remember what James Brown did: get organic. Grab a band and record live. With your talent and undeniable stage presence, your new release is sure to be a hit and you're still young enough and relevant enough to hit the road on tour and CRUSH it. Mark, with all due respect, having a history with Prince as your primary resume' is great, but he's gone now and the world is ready to see what comes next. I think the world will be pleasantly surprised and appreciative to see that BrownMark really is a superstar and that your music is a true expression of yourself as an artist. There are many great bassists in the history of music and especially R&B or Funk, but not many that can do what you do, which is be a front man. You have the skill to write, arrange and produce, PLUS the ability to play as funky as anyone on the planet and sing too. In addition to that, you're extremely attractive and have a sense of showmanship or flair that most bassists simply do not have. One last thing.... In almost every video you post, you emphasize "Keeping It Simple." I find that one of the reasons a lot of bassists never really get their due respect is because they overplay the groove. There are thousands of great bassists out there and many who are famous and successful, yet none of them stand taller in conversations than Bootsy Collins and Larry Graham. While Larry Graham is credited with inventing that funky thumping and plucking style that everyone loves, both he and Bootsy specialized in keeping it simple. I know this because I listen to music and because Bootsy once gave an interview and said that one of the single greatest lessons James Brown taught him was to slow down and stop overplaying. You obviously learned that same lesson in spades. So, my cool, funky friend, I encourage you to go get that project completed WITH OR WITHOUT the engineers. If you don't want to do it raw and organic, then grab some engineers from a local college who will be GRATEFUL just to meet you and add their expertise to your project. I'm looking forward to the album and I hope there's a song on there called "Mikki Andrea" :) Much love and success.
This was my introduction to Prince , LadyCab driver was the first Prince song I ever heard. I was 11 yrs old and my cousin Chip was all into Prince , I blame it all on him !!! The bass and guitar grabbed me and when he told me it was all one guy playing the instruments I knew I had to know more. Thank you once again Mr.Brown for continuing to Teach. U know he’s smiling at you for respecting the Music…..

Brown Mark, Brother, you played that like it was yesterday! It brings back a lot of memories. I am glad that YOU were part of Prince’s band.
