Karl gets along with everyone, talks to them like he's known them for years. I've never seen anyone else that can do that. How many people do you know that just go and kick it with tribes, and still stay themselves. Karl is one of the most personable people ever, i love it.
The Prince Phillip thing started in WW2 when Allied/British planes and ships crashed in that area on their way to fight the Japanese. The tribes didn't know the news from the wider world about the war at first so just had this stuff landing around them inexplicably, but they would go take the gear and supplies from the crashes, among which they kept finding money and photos of the royal family's faces. From time to time eventually finding survivors who through the language barrier could get across those were British royalty, the big chiefs from across the world, these particular tribes decided if those were the leaders of the people who flew in the skies then they must be super powerful like gods and tried to worship them. It was a bit of an accident. There are another set of tribes in that region who worship an American sailor, nobody is sure exactly who, that apparently survived his ship sinking and washed ashore who they treat kind of like their Santa Claus, described as a large dark-skinned man they only call, "Navy Tom." As I remember the story he somewhat joined them and lived there a while. Did it mess up the flow of their culture to a degree? Yes. It's still interesting to the think about. There's another television series from the mid 2000s where they bring those tribesmen to the US and England in search of Navy Tom and Prince Phillip that while having a few set-ups and edited situations I found pretty worth a watch as a kind of reverse-travel show, just food for thought. Had to look up the name of the show, realized I left it hanging: "Return of The Tribe," first part to England airing in 2007.
Been watching y’all for years and I can honestly say that watching you two watch Karl Pilkington is by far the best thing to happen in 2021. And I had my first child in May.

Guys, thanks for the laughs. Love watching your reactions. Really very sick and not sure I'm gonna survive to my 41st birthday in January, but ... know that watching your videos has helped me laugh and smile at the absolute scariest, most painful time in my life. Thanks. You affect people's lives (maybe) more than you know.
Carl is playing a character but he's also not. My opinion is that he is being himself but Ricky realised he could make him seem more ridiculous than he really is. I think he's incredibly talented at keeping a straight face when confronted by something objectively absurd, and that, is where the comedy comes from. That, and his monologues and hot-takes on things are hilarious. But you have to understand that he is, in fact, in on the goof.
I've wanted to watch this show for so long, but never had anyone to watch it with! I've been burning through it alongside you guys, thanks so much for doing this series!
Wonder how they measure it out so perfectly, though, the land dive so no one gets hurt. Kind of hypnotic, that dancing scene. That was great. Maybe Karl teaches us how to be close-minded and open-minded simultaneously? He did look genuinely scared on that platform at the beginning.
This was honestly hilarious, thanks for the laughs guys!😂 It's so refreshing to see people genuinely happy like the tribesmen, their lives are so simple that arseboarding is fun lol
Thanks for continuing with this series. Been subscribed for years, and these are my favorites uploads so far. Really make my day! And thank you both for starting this channel. Really helps sometimes.

I actually jumped from that same spot 12 years ago. Scariest thing I've ever done by a mile and I've skydived and mountain climbed too. The feeling going down is INCRIDIBLE though. Edit: about them pushing him, I actually asked them to do so but they said they weren't allowed, you have to jump on your own. I don't remember exactly why but it has to do with the kind of gear they use in these super high jumps (this one is 134 meters just on the jump itself, about 200 to the ground) plus if you are not mentally prepared to jump yourself, than you might also panic and try to grab something, hurting yourself, or worse, grab someone and kill them.
