- We finally can say that we have a kiteboat!
Over the last few weeks, we've connected a small kite to our boat and our pilots were able to make their very first run.
Launching a kite from the sea has been quite a challenge and we've had to work hard over the last few months to validate a launch procedure that is safe for the pilots, team and boat, and then dare to cast off for the first time.
From the very first tests using our chase boats to the first launch with our record boat, we tell you all about this fine-tuning process in details. The road is still long, but the journey is worth it. What a feeling to finally watch her sail on her own!
Next stage: putting on a bigger kite and getting faster...stay tuned!

Hello, it is very smart to test it with a small kite and them start increasing the size of the kite, and the power.
If you want to reach high speed you must train to keep the kite steady in the air. If the kite start going up and down, and right and left, it will produce very powerful pull, and it can be very dangerous.

Seems like all you need is an old ram air parachute canopy and the body of a catamaran.
I've got both! How would a 230 square foot chute work with a 16 foot cat?
To help launch an even larger kite, you could use a smaller pilot kite that could be remote controlled to break away once it gets higher up

Bravo pour cette première étape qui en appelle d'autres.
Je sais que ce n'est que le début et qui faut se roder mais franchement j'ai peur que le lancement du kite soit vraiment problématique dans les conditions de record. Avec du vent et une grande aile cela va être très sport.
Je pensais notamment à l'usage d'un bateau équipé d'un DPS, je ne sais si cela existe en semi rigide mais cela aide grandement les manoeuvres précise.

put 2 height controllable foils in the middle and foils on both outsides. no surface to slow you down.
Didn't see any keels or foils under the boat to create lift. So the boat can only move downwind and go only as fast as the wind (not faster than the wind), right?
We do have a “foil”, lifting downward 🙃
It has been designed to anchor us in the water, as opposed to what is currently done in competitive sailing ➡️ at the very high speeds we are targeting, we don't want to fly but to stay really flat on water, kind of like a formula 1.
Our boat was designed to be 2.5 times faster than the wind 😉

c'est-à-dire beaucoup de savoir faire et pas beaucoup d'argent c'est 131 km heure en char à voile reproductible autant de fois qu'on veut avec la possibilité de sûrement attraper les 140

Ne serait-il pas intéressant de discuter avec Michelin pour une adaptation du concept de voile Wisamo (aile gonflable ) pour s'approcher de ce que l'on utilise en aéronautique avec des ailes à géométrie variable ... ce qui pour le SP80 pourrait donner de la souplesse d'usage, sécurité et potentiel pour des vitesses élevées et pour Michelin une autre plateforme de test/adaptation du Wisamo à d'autres problématiques.
Dire qu'ils sont contents pour un premier essai...ils vont moins vite qu'un Hobie Cat tracté par une aile ! lol ! ...bon d'accord ça pése une tonne.

Pourquoi pas une tourelle mobile à l’arrière avec quelqu’un dedans , un mec pour diriger le bateau et un autre pour gérer l’aile , par contre s’ajouterai un safran a plusieurs position au milieu pour plus de stabilité….

It would be, but it's not possible 🥲 Our foil is our most confidential part on the boat, it's key to break 55-knot barrier!
We try to share as much as possible of our story but we have to keep a few things for ourselves 😉
