Something I like about IW is that there's little need of a dedicated sprue like with NL. The MK.III set from HH gets the job done quite well.
If GW could employ enforcers to stop you using one kit in two game sets they absolutely would.
*"IRON WITHIN! IRON WITHOUT!"*
I'm expecting going full dæmon engine but the inclusion of Lord discordant is already enough for me
Glad to see an update theme army. I would change some to the 10 brick terminators with TSorcerer to get -1ap bonus adv/charge and Strat 5+fnp is huge. Warpsmith 2vindicators destructor tank , 2 Obliterators for heavy, 2x 5havocs las/reaper cannon like he has 2x5 legionaries in rhino 1 squad cultist 2x venomcrawler with 65 points for enhancements. Enhancement to negate cover also. Gives a -2ap bonus
Always a fan of these thematic list videos! Lord Discordant is a nice included model too
I’ve been playing the iron warriors since I started horus heresy a few years back ago. You’re video is quit inspiring and I love your thoughts behind it.
Since the iron warriors are quit against any mutations the dark gods give them, having a look through the legacy rules night also be worth the effort.
Horus heresy has a ton of unit that fit the iron warriors quit well, especially since this faction despises the dark gods quit a lot.
Also pretty much all units are available,
And some models might be cheaper then their 40k version of that (for example the horus heresy rhino is cheaper then the 40k one and has a good amount more in it’s box for variety)
Thanks for taking the time to check out vid and leaving a comment. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it! And I totally agree, Veterans of the Long War fielding "legends of the Horus Heresy" is thematically appropriate. Especially for a legion like the Iron Warriors.
We allow legends in our local store tourney. I run a similar list but use a typhoon and rapier carriers
You should do a thematic list for Word Bearers!
Normally it would be very tempting.... But due to my disappointment with the "Word Bearers" detachment the enthusiasm just isn't there. Maybe if there is enough of a demand I'll consider it.
@@WhatThe40k aw shucks!
This sounds like a fun list. I want to fight it with firstborn for old timey vibes
Thanks!
I love this list - I was debating between starting my next army as admech or iron warriors and I think this may have won me over.
Is there some chance to build flafwise Night lords army?
It's almost a certainty.... The Night Man Cometh!
No terminators?
Good stuff! Would there be a chance for a Raptors theme?
The first Video i have seen from you and it´s very good. Greetings out of Germany.
Welcome! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it!
The Detachments ist only at "ranged" attack. Thats a big downside
Comment for activity, thx for the content
Forgot to add a few things for Iron warriors. If someone wants to target you, using a large squad you can brutal attrition for MW. and Point blank on your oblits or havocs or Predat tank to give range weapons melee.,
Can you do alpha legion next please?
Nice list!
@WhatThe40k How thematic you think can one build an Iron Warriors (Fellhammer Siege Host) army with allied Chaos Knights(any variant)??
Could enough points be freed up by throwing the Obliterators, Traitor Guardsmen and Venomcrawlers ... in favor of some Brigand Wardogs or a big Knight?
Interesting question. For me this series is about building a list that hits specific themes of a subfaction, while staying within the units available to that subfaction. This is why I often don't include allies in TLB videos. However, that doesn't mean it isn't narrative or unthematic to use allies. I'm of the opinion that using allies is more suited for narrative than competitive play, so if your trying to do something like that, I would just lean into it.
As for my opinion on the matter, I would always feel an Iron Warriors list is less thematic for including allies.
@@WhatThe40k IWs are like, the most pragmatic & practical bastards out there so if they felt a Knight would give them an advantage they wouldn't even think about it. They love their vehicles and their firepower, too so yeah I think it'd make a perfect combo ... especially considering their ties to the Dark Mechanicum. So yea, a Knight Despoiler or some Brigands in Iron Warriors color scheme would work nicely and don't break the Detachment rule.
@Ishandria I like the sounds of it! 👍
6:26 maybe I’m mistaken, but couldn’t you deepstrike 9” away and get the melta keyword to proc?
IIRC, you need to be within half range to gain the benefits of Melta.
deepstrike is more than 9" so 9,1" or something and therefore no melta for obliterators
Always a shame how IW have been reduced to a gun line iron warriors are an assault army once they take a fort they rip everyone still alive inside with melee weapons they’re just as brutal as blood angels the detachment is cool but make the detachment rule include melee plz
