The free range on the stairs worked because Betty had no way to leave her trees/area. However I found it very difficult to maintain humidity. This set up has been replaced by 2 - 3' tall exo terra tanks. Norman does not stay inside his cage area...he spends most of his days roaming around the room. Each night he goes back in his cage to sleep. So in short, no they dont just stay in the trees if there is a way for them to get out.

Mate love your setup on everything but only thing am interested in is basilisk ? What size is OK to have . Because am wanting a river bed idear similar to your please help and tip thnks in advance

They do get pretty expensive! I breed about 50% of the insects I feed off to keep the costs down.
