This came up at the perfect time for me. Im right at the beginning of this fishkeeping journey, and want all the tanks! But i also know that burnout is a thing and its happened to me before with a passion of mine. It was heartbreaking to take a break but i had to. I will learn from you and take my time and leave those spaces empty for now.
Glad to see your still going to focus on the natives, more people need to see how cool alot of natives can be in home aquariums, I'll be trying right here with you with the natives.
Absolutely I'm trying to be a spokes person like you about natives and trying to get more people interested in natives by ways of my tanks and streams, just on a smaller scale than you.
Happy to see you back.... life is what it is...you have up's and downs..take your time and do what makes you happy... I love that you let your family be on the videos..have a blessed day
I know you want less tanks but I just feel like it'd be awesome to have a massive floor to ceiling tank with native fish like smallmouth, largemouth, channel cats, perch, etc. Also it's great to here the family's doing well!
Move the fahaka! I just found out that my Congo puffer is actually a dragon puffer thanks to your video. My LFS said he might have mixed up the labels in shipping and my puffer might not be a Congo puffer. Thanks for finally giving me an answer!
Ive been keeping fish 45 years I so get where you are coming from . Love your honesty👍. And it’s true . you do go through times I know I have where you are not in love with it and you question if you want to continue even though you are in deep . I think you are doing the right thing troubleshooting and finding a new path with manageable parameters back to the reason why you keep fish 👍 for the fun and enjoyment.
Zac is has always amazed me how you keep up with your fish. Thanks to lets us know just how hard it is when something more important come our way to keep up.
Sorry to hear about the fish problems Zac! We’ve all been there before 😩 When bad things happen in the fish room, it all happens at the same time. Glad to see things are on the up and up! Hope all is well with you and the family!
I'm new here. Right now I just moved my garage tuffy 110 in my bedroom I'm looking at four tanks and the tuffy with my first koi in it that I had in one of my tanks. It's funny I had your bargain setup long before covid. Two of them is a matter of fact. I'll definitely be watching more. Thank you, it's been fun.
The other thing I've noticed is that as you started filling spaces with tanks, the updates for some fish stopped happening. I'd enjoy a smaller fish room with many updates on the same fish, I think having updates on every fish once a month would be much more enjoyable than bouncing around, and adding tanks all the time. Hope this helps!
I'm all native fish all the time..so I want the bass and perch more... that pond in garage could be a VERY NICE pond for the natives... with some minnows for food...glad to have you back no matter what...
Hey Zac! So good to see your back up and doing what you do best! Soo happy that your little man is home and healthy! Sending big love from all the way from Melbourne!!
Thanks man! Appreciate your kind words and support! Definitely glad to have the excitement back and start working on the channel and the fish tanks again!
So glad to see you back, Zac, and excited and re-energized. Lovely to see the girls again, and baby Wes doing so well. For tanks - I like the idea of emphasizing the native fish. I agree with the others who said you should do what feels right to you first; most of your fans will watch everything you put up, so that won't be a problem.
man real life comes first and so does burn out... you all good my friend and no disappointment... i would get the big mouth and those huge wave tanks going and add what ever you can to them to help the down sizing. be well!!! glad the kiddo is doing great and the girls too :)
Hahaha it's so funny man.... I filmed the intro a few times trying to get the feel for it again. I left the finger wag out once and went "wait, no, Doug would be mad!" So I put it back in! Just for you! 😁
Hi! I don’t even know where to start……. Glad to see you back making videos, I’ve been missing them videos. Your channel is my favorite fish keeping channel! I absolutely agree with the way to many tanks, and wanting to fill every inch of space with tanks, one thing that helps me i think is having stuff organized as I know fish rooms can sometimes become a mess sometimes lol! I only have like………. 15 fish tanks currently. I can’t wait to see the new setups! Also yes native fish need more attention in the hobby! Native fish are the hardiest fish I’ve ever kept lol, I hardly loose any after they settle in, I recently lost my male bluegill, he died of old age i’m pretty sure, I caught it at a pond that’s full of stunted bluegill and it was huge so I kept him and he adapted well to my tank, after he died I measured him and I realized he was 9 inches, that’s only 1 inch short of being a master anglers size bluegill, hopefully I can get another big one at a lake that has huge bluegill in it and get my certificate! Also I want another big bluegill! I also really like the yellow perch, I would like to eventually find some I’d rather catch my fish than buy them lol, it’s more fun I guess and I can selectively pick them, just gotta find the yellow perch in the lakes. You should try to get a couple rock bass to go in with the perch and do a river theme tank with current and a nice scape with lots of hides! Also i like the way you do the videos unlike some of the bigger channels as you seem to do stuff on more of a hobby scale and stuff that other people can do to! I can imagine how hard it can be with having kids and other responsibilities and trying to maintain a hobby like fish keeping and a RUclips channel, Luckily for me it’s not to hard taking care of my animals as I don’t have many other responsibilities and no kids and I will never have kids either (for a few reasons) I will stick to non human kids! Also just a little heads up if you have time I have messaged you on Instagram!
Glad to have you back Zack. Good to see little man is getting better and stronger as well. Instead of asking us what we want to see you do why not just do one project first. And do what makes you happy in the hobby and not make others happy.
I'm very happy you're back. I always look forward to your videos and enjoy them all. I can't pick what you should do first because you need to do that. Pick whatever you want to be first and I know at least I will enjoy it.
Your kids are so cute my dude, I have #4 due it March, it is really hard to keep up with a lot of tanks and kids, I’ve found myself in the same situation, I’m currently downsizing too, can’t wait to see your new builds tho let’s see the puffer tank first but I do reallly wanna see whose wave tanks up and running!
Talking about building your own stands, I'm sure you've come across his channel but hit up The King of DIY. The way he builds his stands and how they can support what he has....outstanding
Good to see you back. You have some beautiful kids. They should come first and don’t ever apologize for that. That being said, show us the fish when you have the time. I’m voting for a revamp of the bass pond.
U crack me up lol ur so funny man lol make me catch a smile and a laugh lol u make me not want to quit fishkeepin when stuff goes sideways cuz u have good information
Felt this video deeply , dealing with my own child issues myself and my tanks took the hit hard , didn’t do anything but feed my fish and water changes whenever I could fine the time , looks terrible I had to take a day and really put the time in so I know the feeling love to see you getting back into it it’s part of it life hits all you can do it hit back hope it all works out for you ❤️
I appreciate you sharing that with me and I hope your child is doing ok with their health. Never easy to be a parent.... even worse when you have to worry! You definitely understand what I've been dealing with on my end. Excited to get back at the hobby and make everything look good again!
Hey Zac, anymore thought on that Red Eye Bass? I think he would be a really cool addition. Especially if you do one of the tank you picked up in Chicago. As a creek style tank. I hope to start my first pound in the spring. How ever I need more information on keeping a poundni. The heat of Arizona. Well have a good night.
The biggest advice I could give you for keeping an outdoor pound like that is build a canopy or sun shade for! Control that algae! Then get some hardy fish and a good filter and you should be all set!
Love the native idea!! Look forward to seeing that. You look like an amazing father and the bond you have with your children from what I see on the videos is inspirational bro! Keep it up! P.s if you hit that mental block again use your kids as a reason to keep going as they love animals as much as you.. Just saying.. Love the videos and I’m so happy your son is healthy and at home, carnt wait to see his personality in future videos...
Happy to see you post. You could do a DIY setup to put any and all tanks (- quarantine) on same water or something. Biggest thing is you need to be happy with what your doing or like what's been happening will continue to do so. You don't need to do quantity when quality is better over all and I am sure you will be much happier for sure. No matter what you choose I will continue to follow and watch. I sent you an email a couple of days ago.
welcome back and glad to hear the new addition to the family is doing better. your DIY stuff is what first got me into your channel, would love to see more of your ideas i can possibly do at my home setups too.
I definitely want to do more of the DIY, easy to follow but most importantly.... budget friendly builds! I appreciate the feedback and I'll make sure to do something soon!
I'm hoping I can get a native tank started again. I need to purchase a 125 gallon for what I'm planning to do. I'm also a Nebraska native, and love your channel
This video was one of the most relatable fish videos I have ever seen…. Lol. I’m downsizing right now too. Only so much of us to go around and the kids are too cute to disappoint. I’ve found a few 125s easier to take care of than 10 30 to 75 gallon tanks. Keep being authentic my man. I’m rooting for you!!!
I appreciate this very much! Thank you. I was hoping people could relate but until putting the video out, I wasn't sure! And you're spot on.... a couple 125s with the right filtration is a fraction of the maintenance or effort of a bunch of smaller tanks!
The same happened to me, I had 12 tanks running and it got too much for me and I lost my passion for the hobby so I took all but 3 down and I found my passion again. I hope it all works out for you
Thank you for sharing! That's absolutely my goal. Trim it all down and get to where I have a manageable number of setups again and can actually enjoy them again!
Welcome back Zac! Love the new direction you are headed! The puffer would be a quick win while you start work on the 1200. 👍 I’m also glad to see your 👎 trolls are still watching!!!
Fishkeeping is about you and what you want. Don't do it to please others. I down sized my tank a few months ago because it was just to big and it wasn't as enjoyable for me as it should of been. Now I have a pair of Firemouth Cichlids living happily with swordtails and its a beautiful tank keeping me entertained and makes me enjoy my hobby more. 😀👍
You are so right! I'm at the point where one big tank, beautiful scaped with a bunch of really nice fish.... or just one big one.... sounds WAY more enjoyable than a rack of 10 tanks or whatever!
I totally feel you on the burn out. Any hobby can get so big that it becomes a job and you end up resenting it. I think thinning down would do a world of good for you. For me I had to stop at 5 to keep that from happening in my fish hobby and even then I'm a bit of a slacker on maintenance lately. I totally feel your situation and I hope you can pull out of it. :)
I have a vision for how the fishroom will look now and thinning out the tanks, streamlining the maintenence and focusing on the fish again will be a HUGE help. I'm excited about it all again too which i haven't felt in a long time!
definitely down size to have it be manageable you're the only channel I can relate to with kids, job, real life would love to see the puffer get a new tank and see big Community tanks 😀
Appreciate it man! Glad you can relate to what k have going on.... because as much as I'd love to buy a warehouse and have dozens of ponds in there.... thats not a realistic goal for a guy with 3 kids 😂😂
At one point I had 28 aquariums going. It felt like like I was working at a fish store. I’m down to 3 and I get more enjoyment then I had with all those tanks.
Hey Zac, i recently got into darters and i have fallen in love with their little personalities. i highly recommend doing a darter tank. very colorful and easy to care for. please let me know if need help finding darters. keep fighting the good fight
Good to see you again! Zac I been a sub with ya for along time and I can only imagine how overwhelming that all can be. If it was me I would condense everything to only one room so it's easier to focus on. Like you said most people don't have rooms and rooms of tanks. Like me I have 3 a 125, 55 and a 20. Also it will give you more time to take care of those fish and be a lil easier on the wallet. I mean look at Steve he is like a watermelon with fins because I can give him attention. Start with the big bass first, native fish keeping is what drew me to your channel and why I watch every video posted go back to your roots. Take care man and I look forward to the progress! Hang in there!
Appreciate your feedback brother. Always respect your opinion and thank you for all the support! I definitely want to trim things down where I can focus on a handful of fish and tanks and not feel like I need to dedicate hours to the fishroom every time I go down there! I think I have a good plan so I'm excited to get it going!
We appreciate how real u are with us man, I love your videos so much and just really like all your content. Keep it up man times might be tough right now but you have all of us and your family behind ur back through it all🤞🐟
I appreciate your kind words and the support! It was nice to open up and just show exactly what's been going on! Excited to make a more positive, fish focused video next! 😂
I think I'm fortunate to have gotten these Perch small and as a group! They get along great and take pellets really well. Excited to get them grown out more and into a bigger tank!
Glad to see you back man! I have a spotted bass I’ve had for 4 months…And he has saddleback disease he’s making it through tho I made a big mistake putting a pelvic in there with him without treating first and boom my spot got sick!
I know what you mean by having too many tanks but the key is to have a perfectly balanced environment tank fish that sift through the gravel and a picasimus or two per tank to keep the algae off the glass then it's all a matter of having a big enough filter to keep up with the water I've tested the theory where I got a tank I haven't done a water change only topped it up for the past 6 months but it's also only has a couple fish in it but my other tanks that are more heavily stocked I got to do a water change at least once or twice a week I clean the smaller hang on the back filters once a week and the canister filters once every 3 weeks
u got my respect about saying u have too many tanks... alot of ppl just uses multiple tanks just for videos not really for the hobby of it... maybe josh and boo can catch u some trout to filet n feed to ur bass to get it fat again! since he dont like to eat trout anyways... they both might do it! would be a nice cheap way to give them super nutritious morsels of food for them! just a idea i wanted to throw out there for ya!
Thats not a bad idea at all! I've had someone offer to get a bunch of carp for me but partnering up with those two again would be fun! And I obviously don't hate the idea of saving a little bit of money on the fish food bill! 😂 Thanks brother!
Phantom Redtail is still doing great! He's still really small so i won't be winning the contest.... but he's fat, happy and great! The Phantom Gar knocked off the intake to his filter and stuck his nose up there, found him the next morning stuck and he never recovered. That was one of those "getting kicked while I was down" moments... that one hurt.
@@SCFishKeeping awwww man that sucks. I sympathize with you. I had 40 cichlid tanks or so, kid came along, priorities changed, started losing fish left and right. I sold everything and haven’t been back in the hobby since. Glad to see your are sticking with it. Look forward to seeing those large curved tanks set up.
Also I think if you have a light above every fish tank that causes algae and not sure what fish go with what fish but maybe a good idea to have some larger algae eaters in each tank if that’s possible
I can't see a video on your Yellow Perch? I have three Redfin Perch (European Perch, close relative of the Yellow Perch) in my outside tank. They are an invasive species here in Australia, so you can't release them once caught. They are a great aquarium fish though!
I do have 140 gal pond I did I’m trying add more got a red eye bass or rock bass for get what is and nice size tiger Oscar in it now would like do all native in pond
You should give the puffer one of those tanks that you got from the fish store or one of your buddy’s it was the bow front and scape it as the puffers natural habitat
@@SCFishKeeping they would look good in one of those take making it look like there natural habit and adding more fish to go along with the habitats and stuff
Man do I ever relate to this video. I'm a truck driver work 70 hrs a week. I have 2 kids one I'm trying to get custody of. We have my sisters kids 90% of the time. I had 4 saltwater tanks, 1 fresh water tank, koi pond, 2 husky pups, 2 leopard gecko, 3 bearded dragons, a savannah monitor, 2 rabbits ect and i lost all passion for the hobby I had to cut back so I could enjoy it again.
You got a change something with a brother if you’re not having fun you do what you wanna do not what people tell you but we all have had are Fair share of mistakes and still make some of the smallest stupidest mistakes but it happens
Don’t quit man! You’re the reason I push hard everyday! You’re a true inspiration!
Glad to see your still going to focus on the natives, more people need to see how cool alot of natives can be in home aquariums, I'll be trying right here with you with the natives.
Awesome to hear someone else understands the native fish tanks and wants to spread that part of the hobby!
Absolutely I'm trying to be a spokes person like you about natives and trying to get more people interested in natives by ways of my tanks and streams, just on a smaller scale than you.
I wanna do same thing
Happy to see you back.... life is what it is...you have up's and downs..take your time and do what makes you happy... I love that you let your family be on the videos..have a blessed day
Fully support this great idea, as the saying goes: Sometimes less is more. Good luck with the refurb/streamlining.
I know you want less tanks but I just feel like it'd be awesome to have a massive floor to ceiling tank with native fish like smallmouth, largemouth, channel cats, perch, etc. Also it's great to here the family's doing well!
I'm picturing like a bass pro shops take in my house! That'd be awesome!
Move the fahaka! I just found out that my Congo puffer is actually a dragon puffer thanks to your video. My LFS said he might have mixed up the labels in shipping and my puffer might not be a Congo puffer. Thanks for finally giving me an answer!

I’m so glad to know I’m not the only one who went through getting overwhelmed. Real life.
I asked for a reseal video, and my 100g sprung a leak on Monday. You get what you ask for. Keep doing your thing and best to the family.
Glad to have you back and glad the little fishkeeper is doing good.
Appreciate you buddy! Thanks for all the support you give!
I'm new here. Right now I just moved my garage tuffy 110 in my bedroom I'm looking at four tanks and the tuffy with my first koi in it that I had in one of my tanks. Appreciate you man! You've always been here supporting me and what I'm doing!!
Sending prayers 🙏for your son. I give you a lot of credit for doing this.
Quality tanks are always better to look at than the quantity of tanks. Can’t wait to see what the room turns into
It's good to see you again keep your passion alive but always family first we understand
Thanks brother! Happy to be at a point where the family is good enough to let me film!
Great vid bud, cool black Tourmaline necklace, gotta keep it positive 🐟👍
Hey Zac! So good to see your back up and doing what you do best! Soo happy that your little man is home and healthy! Sending big love from all the way from Melbourne!!

And do what makes you happy in the hobby and not make others happy.
Thank you for the support man! I have so many ideas for projects to do, so I'll be excited to start sharing those with everyone!
Just take your time. Family first ❤
Your channel is amazing 🔥🔥🔥can’t wait to see what you do next. I’ll be waiting for your next video brother!!!
Hey Zac nice to see you and the kids back. Take the time you need to refocus before you burnout
I definitely needed that time to find my focus again and figure out how I could do the channel moving forward! Appreciate your support!
I'm very happy you're back. I always look forward to your videos and enjoy them all. I can't pick what you should do first because you need to do that. Pick whatever you want to be first and I know at least I will enjoy it.

My man! Welcome back, I am also going through a downsize of tanks to make better versions
I’m so sorry for your loss of fish but glad your son is doing well and glad you are back
Forgot to add start with the largemouth
Appreciate your kind words and I'm definitely excited to officially be back as well!
I am so happy that your son is doing well!
You and me both!! He's a little champ and is just doing all the normal baby things! Can't ask for better!
U crack me up lol ur so funny man lol make me catch a smile and a laugh lol u make me not want to quit fishkeepin when stuff goes sideways cuz u have good information
Life is life. Stay safe. Glad you are trying to figure it out.
Slowly but surely! I'm sure I'll figure it all out at some point! 😂

Appreciate you! 😘
Your son is priority ❤️. Glad to hear that Wesley is doing well. And I am glad to see you getting back 👍.
Thanks buddy!! I definitely appreciate that!
Start small with the puffer grate to see you back and can’t wait to see the new set up

Welcome back Zac! Love the new direction you are headed! The puffer would be a quick win while you start work on the 1200. 👍 I’m also glad to see your 👎 trolls are still watching!!!
Thank you!! Figured the trolls were probably missing me... gotta give them something to do! 😂
@@SCFishKeeping You will certainly have more time for you and your family. My advice is to do it my friend 😃👍
Great video, great life and great kids!!!! What more can you ask for!
Not much my friend!! You're right!
Hey Zac! Can't wait for the updates!
Thanks brother!!
Can't wait to see all the changes coming!
Thanks brother!! Nice to finally be able to say "I'm excited too!"
@@SCFishKeeping , that's awesome. I was so glad to hear your wanting to focus on natives still.
definitely down size to have it be manageable you're the only channel I can relate to with kids, job, real life would love to see the puffer get a new tank and see big Community tanks 😀
Appreciate it man! Glad you can relate to what k have going on.... because as much as I'd love to buy a warehouse and have dozens of ponds in there.... thats not a realistic goal for a guy with 3 kids 😂😂
Good to see u back man 👍💥👊
Glad to see you back
Thanks buddy!
Hey Zach glad to have you back at it glad the Largemouth is doing good still and the little one is doing good....keep up the good work
Appreciate it buddy!!
Glad to see ya back
Appreciate it!!
Hey Zac glad you're back
Thanks buddy!!
Those yellow perch are awesome! I have one that’s a little of 9” but it is not as friendly as those ones, but will crush minnows and worms
I think I'm fortunate to have gotten these Perch small and as a group! They get along great and take pellets really well. Excited to get them grown out more and into a bigger tank!
Zac!! Good to see you Bro!
I'm glad to hear the family is healthy and happy 😊
Appreciate it Tanner! Definitely feeling fortunate to have the whole family doing so well!
Glad to see you back man! I have a spotted bass I’ve had for 4 months…And he has saddleback disease he’s making it through tho I made a big mistake putting a pelvic in there with him without treating first and boom my spot got sick!
Thats the worst man! So hard to trust adding new fish even if you treat and quarantine and everything first!
@@SCFishKeeping yeah I made a big mistake I’m on day 2 of treatment for the spot he’s getting better!
Glad to that your back great video btw
Thanks my friend! Felt good to enjoy making a video again and show everything that's been going on!
I would love to see a smallmouth bass!
Welcome back!!! What happened to the phantom redtail, and the platinum Gar??
I live in Baltimore and yellow perch one of the nicest looking natives
Also I think if you have a light above every fish tank that causes algae and not sure what fish go with what fish but maybe a good idea to have some larger algae eaters in each tank if that’s possible
Natives are good,as a fisherman Northern pike are my fav and bass, can't go wrong with the predators
And then the revers bow front tank you should use that one for the yellow perch and make that into a natural habitat for them
Appreciate the suggestions! Definitely like the idea of putting those Perch in a big, natural looking tank!!
The pond would be fun especially if you would do a native biotype pond
When you decide to get rid of tanks you should do giveaways or just let me know and I’ll come get some
I’m looking for a 29 gal tank if you have any. can’t wait it Your progress
Should definitely be some good deals on 29 gallon tanks here with Black Friday sales coming up!
I really like puffer fish
Sweet it's Zac
😁 Hey buddy!
tank, tank tank tank tank tank lol its hard to admit ur mistakes much respecat always SCFK
Just felt like I couldn't hide what was going on anymore! Felt good to share! Appreciate your support.
Love u too man
Family has gotta be first
Always!
Do the fahaka
Maybe if you put some colors in your aquariums you might be more interested
You got a change something with a brother if you’re not having fun you do what you wanna do not what people tell you but we all have had are Fair share of mistakes and still make some of the smallest stupidest mistakes but it happens
Appreciate you my friend! I have the plan for the change I need to make and I'm excited to be working towards it!
Start with the largemouth bass and the flathead catfish
I'm excited to get both of those fish to a place we can better appreciate them!
How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. We will be here. You have a beautiful family.
😂 Love that saying. Very true. And thank you! I think they're beautiful too but of course.... I'm biased! Lol
Man if u tryn get rid of anything i be trying to expand my fish keeping
Where’s the wolffish?!!!!
I would like to see the bass in a new place.
He deserves a good setup where we can focus content on him! So I agree!
I say start with the bass .
I'm definitely ready to get him in a better setup!
Highlight that flathead and the bass.
❤️
Thank you!
You should do a giveaway
