The general consensus on this car is that it was a waste of time, it shouldn't exist. The petrol Forester is a better proposition. There's a reason the RAV4 Hybrid waiting list is so long.
It was lovely to watch my home town in the background. I was interested that you didn't show any footage of going up hill (of which there are many to choose from very close to the city) let alone a potted dirt road. I agree with some of the others here; I'd love the 2.5turbo engine coupled with the hybrid tech for that off road oomph! I've watched quite a number of reviews and the one common theme (apart from the aged/dodgy infotainment setup) is the lack of power from the smaller, naturally aspirated engine (regardless of the battery backup). What would be awesome is if Subaru brought out the Wilderness badged Outback and Forester models in Australia. It's a while since I last owned a Subaru, and I'm still tempted to go back... but can I live with the lack of power? Sure I can. I've been driving a Skoda for the last year and a bit. I swear they share a lot of the same features: 2L engine, crappy infotainment, dodgy assistive tech... But I tell you one thing. A new set of wheels and tyres, a full sized spare, some decent suspension, and some protection for the engine and bodywork are all being added ASAP. Now, has anyone fitted a turbo to one of these engines yet?
Suburu owners lover their Subees. However. There comes a time where exasperation, aging looks, value for money, & competition design advances, trumps all else. The Forester should sell reasonably, but not as well as probably hoped. ps. Having owned sub, I know that 'funny' feeling of love for the unconventional, unbreakable, and somewhat 'weird science'. Melb in lockdown
I got an eboxer a few months ago, bought also a spare wheel and I placed just behind the back seats. Not so much space consumed. So this is not an actual deal beaker if you really like the feeling of an unconventional choice.
From the US. I did not even know Subaru made a Forester hybrid. Of course I knew there was not one in the US, but I didn't know there was one anywhere. Sounds like this hybrid is not that impressive overall. Hoping for big improvements in the next few years (including adding one to the US market).
Good review Simone, Subaru def need to revise their powertrain and gearbox choices (torque conv or DC), all for hybrid option, but the engines need more power to move these bigger units, and less fuel thirst, turbo's people, turbo's. 🚗
Too little, too late! Been driving Subaru since 1991 but went full blown Tesla Model X two years ago and have not looked back. Thanks for everything Subaru, but I'm a Tesla fanatic now!
@@Jennifer-in4us actually no! I have the exact same monthly cost as with my former petrol Subaru. In Swedish currency, 4000 in loan and 5000 in gas/month vs 9000 in loan and no gas with Tesla. I commute a lot.
The design is perfect. 😍 It has a distinct personality ... which is a rare feature in the asiatic cars segment. So, until a new version has the same clarity of design ... it is smart NOT to change it. 👍
The hibrid is - always - the optimal solution ... for the powertrain. Not only compared with the classic fuel variants ... but also compared with the pure electric versions. Why ? Because the main purpose of a car is to save time for its driver. So, a hybrid car never wait in line - for hours - to charge its batteries. Just put petrol in the tank and go. Also, a car gives independence to its owner. On the contrary, an electric car gives a - very humiliating - dependence to the driver. To sit in the car - for hours (or even for tens of minutes) - to charge the battery ... it's soo frustrating. 😞
P.S.: The "Subaru engineer doctor" part ? Loooved it ! 😍 I love a woman ... who want & can to play smart & funny roles ... both in her professional & personal life 🥳
very important American cars have good specifications and are cheap compared to Japanese cars, but the only drawback of American cars is the lack of quality and frequent breakdowns, and this causes a drain on US car owners' money to spend on spare parts and maintenance, as well as a waste of time and effort of American car owners during their frequent maintenance period and additional costs for renting a car for use during The maintenance period, especially if there is congestion at car maintenance shops, and as for Japanese cars, especially Toyota, their faults are few. I call on the world to boycott American cars to force factories to manufacture high-quality cars similar to or higher quality Toyota cars. The campaign's passion for the international trend so that everyone knows about it to participate in it so that its impact is strong and its results are wonderful, as well as urging a boycott in the media as well
Yeah my parents have a 2016 and it looks basically identical. All other brands Asian and European have all done redesigns/refreshes for their SUVs 2020/21 (ex Toyota Corolla Cross, Hyundai Tucson, Honda Cr-V, Audi Q5) with edgy and modern styling whereas Subaru has just kept its boring boxy shape and basic interior c.2014 (I mean how much has it changed since then except size and infotainment?).
Hybrid vehicles were great 5 years ago. All electric vehicles are now the way to go. Gas and diesel are OLD polluting technology and need to be ditched. There is a Climate Crisis. It is time for legacy auto makers to step up to all electric.

Nice review from a very lovely reviewer.
Whats up with the music playing in the background not good 👎
love the idea of this vehicle, but a real selling point for me (NO SPARE) not even a space-saver.

Wouldn't the lack of a spare wheel make it unroadworthy?

I had to watch this twice
Simone. That's all.
Great SUV hybrid perfect for Boston... cool video
I'd buy the 2.5 by choice.
I want the off road credentials of this in a Kona type body - which doesn't seem to exist. thanks 4 review.

A Subaru with no spare wheel... -_-
Rav 4 doesn't offer a passenger power seat

No spare wheel no deal
