- On this channel we care about one thing: sharing the reality of travel. In this series, sharing the reality of van life is no different and today you'll see the reality of working in a van as we explore Mammoth Lakes.
Sharing the reality of travel can sometimes come across as "complaining" ... according to some people in the comments. We like to think of it as showing the "behind the scenes".
This channel is not the place to enjoy stunning Instagram photo locations, it's to be able to put yourself in these same travel locations and be able to tell what it's like working and traveling full time.

I am so glad to see someone else parked beside a place while traveling simply because they need wifi. Been there done that! My best find, while we traveled, was discovering that many State Park visitor centers have pretty decent free wifi, another perk of paying for a campsite.
We also play the game where we drive around looking for Xfinity hotspots in towns. That's SUPER fun :)
I'm a full time RV'er. I use the ToGo internet by Winegard. It uses AT&T and broadcasts it over WiFi. I paid $360 for a year of unlimited 4G access. The Winegard hardware was either $300 or $400, I can't remember for sure. As long as you have a decent signal it has been great. Never seem to be throttled. I think they have monthly plans for like $35. Have fun out there!
Excellent video. I can imagine how frustrating the whole experience of van life vs experiencing the beauty of nature. Appreciate your sacrifices to bring such authentic content.

The June Lake “loop” is about 30 minutes north of the town of Mammoth Lakes. It’s beautiful in late October when the Aspens changing color. Thank you for sharing your travel experience. Stay safe out there.

Hope you had a chance to see Mono lake and Bodie while you were near Lee Viking. Tough the smoke and low water didn’t let you see the real Yosemite. We have traveled across the United States in eurovan with kayak and two bikes, your blog brings back many great memories. Safe travels

I do Hobie i11s inflatable kayak. I do fishing but it doubles as a paddleboard which I think you groove on. Yes, i said groove on, cuz I am old. LOL great video!

Fin love the bracelets you're wearing on the boat at the beginning of the video. Especially your right wrist. Could you tell me where you got them please? I would really appreciate it. And as an aside I don't find that you and Tim do any "complaining." What I do find is an honest down to earth life experience that comes across as real life challenges when traveling the world. We bought an Airstream camper a couple years ago and have been enjoying hiking, camping and experiencing so many of the things you both do. I got your travel packing cubs and used them on our last trip wow it really helped pack down and I talked about them on my packing video!!! Y'all did a great job designing them. Pepper looked like she was having the best time of her life!! Understand the internet. I am a realtor and we went to Helen Ga a few weeks ago. Thursday and Friday our phones worked great!!! Saturday and Sunday was so busy phone wouldn't work couldn't even get out a text but showed we had service. No place had free wifi so we had to hang out at the 1 place that did Mcdonalds. haha

Lol! I challenge you guys to spend a WHOLE winter working in Mammoth and living in a van. That would be an interesting season... trust me I've done it and that's why I moved to Bishop the next year! Don't like waking up to being buried in 5 feet of snow lol. Nice vid BTW🤘🏾

Did you tell Silver Lake they had the bear sign wrong? “Be Alert for Bears”....? That doesn’t work. BE BEAR AWARE 😂😂😂 Our old Lab enjoyed cooling off in June Lake after walking around in the heat at Mono Lake. Such a gorgeous area!
Twin lakes are awesome and you both too awesome. I recently started watching your channel & wanted to explore like you guyz do but not with van but using car. May be you can show how difficult to do with car and that will attract more.

Sunglasses? We don't know anymore! We work with Revo and they keep us stocked for our adventures. There is nothing more miserable than walking around squinting!

You can actually purchase a grandfathered Verizon jetpack- which is what we did when we RV'd full time. We also had an ATT and Tmobile hotspots as well.

You’re sweet to ask. Advertisers do not pay for skipped ads, so it is not counted as a view.
@@timandfin So not counted as a view means no revenue for you? Conversely watching an ad to the end means you get some revenue?
Yup that’s right. And wow- I let RUclips automatically place ads today and there were SO MANY!! I turned several off 😲 wayyy too much.
Oh, I gotta check out Silver Lake. STILL have not explored the Mammoth area. Was hoping to, but the Cali fires put an end to that. HOW do you navigate the drone with driving lol?? I guess you get out and put up the drone, and then the other drives a bit? TY

There is a lot of info on youtube on how to increase your cell connection. You didn't mention how smokey it was on your hike. The creek fire has NOT affected Mammoth Lakes other than smoke so far! Keep your fingers crossed the fire doesn't make it to Mammoth Lakes. I enjoyed your video! Thanks!

Awesome video, I love it up there. But I want to go back. I usually go skiing, so I want to go back when there's no snow. And hike around and stuff. I love the way you guys do your videos, showing the reality of things. So keep up the good work! Oh yeah and more bikini shots please lol! If someone was going to go up to that area for 3 days, which would you recommend if you could only choose one? Sequoia, Yosemite, or the mammoth area?

We’ve made changes to the electrical system based on your feedback. Long story, but those USB’s in the back are supposed to work off Solar. Also going to install 12v cig-lighter style plug in the back so you can run the inverter in the back as well. Should be a whole lot more convenient and practical.

Didn’t think we’d get your attention with our videos! Congrats on over 20 years in the campervan rental business. Hope that you saw all the positives we had to say in our other videos and not just us talking about electric- we’re the first people to say that the way we use our rentals is not typical at all. Two computers, four cameras, a drone, etc…

The van setup was great for three weeks. You could tell the van had been maintained well and was laid out in a way that made a lot of sense.
So earlier when you announced that you going to road trip to California I commented that you could not have picked a better place than that . June Lake , Mammoth Lakes , Crystal Lake are a vacationer's paradise I mean just look at the scenery all over bringing back great memories . Oh a question for Fin - my girlfriend say that you are in top shape what is your secret ?

Hey there. How did you both eat on your van travels. We are setting out in 2 weeks for a 10 day trip in this van. And just wondering how your daily food intake went. Eat out a lot, red ridge or ice chest etc.
There is a mini fridge you can see in our van tour video. We loved quick and ready things like premade sandwiches and and salads from the grocery store and flavored tuna packets!

Love these videos! Have you all tried Visible yet? A subsidiary of Verizon. Unlimited, hotspot, wifi calling. $25/mo. My buddy used it RV’ing and had no issues. Talk soon
I know other full time rv/van lifers have discussed things like WeBoosts to help out with internet (cell) signal in the middle of nowhere, and a couple people have talked about little pocket wifi things buuut I still haven't come across someone who has it totally figured out and doesn't have issues with upload speeds lol
We're in the same boat then! We've only seen a small increase from what we've seen with the boosters as they've been shown online. An extra couple Mbps doesn't really change our lives when we're trying to DATA DUMPPPPP! Totally realize we're on the heavy user side when we're moving video up or down, but even when it comes to the work I put in running the travel gear side of things, I just can't handle spinning wheels or timeouts when I"m trying to share an image with a factory or update something on Amazon.com.
My absolute favorite is barely having cell, sitting on hold for a long time for whatever support you need, and then it seems like as soon as someone picks up your call "POOF!", the tower you were connected to has disappeared.

Yikes! Yes you’re right. RUclips started automatically putting ads on creators videos without us adding them. Now we have to manually go in and turn them off or opt for less if we want- but for each video!
