Over 50 years of Mammoth trips over my lifetime, I have done everything you have laid out here. When I was a kid back in the 70s, you could walk INSIDE the Earthquake Fault, with a tour guide. Old Mammoth Town site was pretty cool too. We found a lot of square nails there when we were kids, and I will return those nails to the visitor's site next time I go up there. I had just found them tucked away in a box, from about 45 years ago. The ghost town of Bodie, is definitely worth the drive and about 2-3 hours there. Mammoth Falls below Twin Lakes is also great to hang out at. But Rainbow Falls is the best. Hiking from Agnew Meadows down to Minaret Falls and then onto Devil's Postpile is a great hike, mostly downhill, and along the Middle Fork of the San Jaquin River, and catch the bus to take you back up. Another great hike is from Horseshoe Lake, to McCleod Lake, Mammath Pass, Twin Cinder Cones to Red's Meadow, is another mostly downhill hike, with a bus to take back up. That is just off the top of my head...
@@JJONNYREPP Certain months and/or wet months will get the mosquitos up and about...sometimes I can fend them off easily with repellent, but there are exceptions. I remember fishing at Sotcher Lake on my 13th birthday back in 1976, and even though I caught 13 trout (Coincidence?!?), I caught about 1300 mosquito bites....I think that was the worst of it.

Very Good. Our family spent vacations in Mammoth Lakes back in the early 60's, driving up from L.A. This was a walk down memory lane for me. I knew all the spots and enjoyed seeing a big part of my past in California. Thank You.
Great video. Be careful about swimming in Lake Mary as it is part of the drinking water for the area. It is a no swimming area for Lake Mary and Twin Lakes. June Lake and Convict Lakes have great swimming areas.
There are many parking lots near to the sights. Walk along the lakes' shore. Hot Creek is a short(1/4 mile) but steep path. Remember, you're at 8000 feet(2500 meters), so you get tired quickly. Also, you can rent Electric Bicycles, if you want to ride around town, or leave the car parked.
I’ve been to a mono lake june lake convict lake and lake Mary here .. and I would say probably the easiest hike I’ve done here was convict lake loop.. it is basically flat the entire hike it just goes around the entirety of the lake about 2.3 miles i would recommend that for a simple yet enjoyable hike
Awesome guide! I would say the Crowley Lake Columns are also worth checking out. The eroding beach of the lake reveals dozens of seeming random stone columns that you would swear must be man made, but they are a totally naturally formation!
duuuuuuude, if youve been to mammoth that many times and dont have Schatts bakery on your MUST see list, you arent doing Mammoth right!! LOVE all these spots, and have a long list to go to bcuz as much as I LOVE skiing and snow, my parents only took ski vacays cuz my step dad aint the camping type, so annoying! Now I want to get out and just be in a tent and find all the camping with creeks, rivers and Lakes you can swim or hike in!! Great video, but ya you HAVE to go to and add Schatts!! theres the one In Bishop too!
Thanks for the video. I've been to most of the places you mentioned. I used to live on the western side of the Sierra's and took the Tioga Pass to get to Mammoth. What a beautiful beginning to our trip.
Hi. One that you missed is the Crestview rest stop. You can get water refills and there's a bathroom. And there is also internet access believe it or not. Another thing I like to do in Mammoth is take my Jeep around the backcountry. And, the dispensary in town is indispensable.
@Michael A--I like the Rest Area between Big Pine & Independence. A picnic lunch at the little creek in early summer. It's 10 degrees cooler & most don't even know it's there! Crestview is closed in the winter.
Wow this place looks amazing wanting to stay somewhere near Yosemite and sequoia national park . May have to spend few days exploring this place two . Can you rent bikes to do the kondola ride back down . Kind regards
Nice job...Lake Mamie (may-mee) and I'd say that since you included Mono Lake, right there is the Eastern entrance to Yosemite via highway 120 which could be your #17

Yosemite is only a 2-3 hour drive away, but $40 per car. Start early from Mammoth(7-8AM). Stop at Tuolumne(Too-all-o-me) Meadows and Olmstead Point near Tenaya(Ten-eye-ah) Lake on your way. Rainbow falls is not as great with the drought in 2022
