I like the foam under the bridge still there and ya for a starter instrument it’s not bad, sounded like a beaver creek mando. Tiny and goes out of tune easy but that’s just new strings need to stretch. My first mandolin was about 150$CND now I have a 1200$ Eastman and the sound yes is bight and day

I buy a lot of cheap instruments on Amazon and the thing is unless your playing gigs all the time they are pretty good and need a little tweaking. That broken neck is junk that’s for sure. But they’re good at replacing broken stuff.

I have one of these and they are not a bad mando for such a cheap price. I had to lower the bridge by sanding to lower the action as the bridge wouldn't go any lower. You then need to set the bridge for correct intonation. After that it was easy to play. The strings that came fitted were crap not to mention rusty where the packaging didnt cover the instrument, so i put on a new set. The fret ends are a bit rough and need work but still playable. I didn't buy mine from Amazon as instruments always get broke from them. If you know how to set up an instrument and just want to try out a mando then this is a good buy.

Yes, they should come with strings, but please don't buy a mandolin (or any real instrument) over the internet. Go to a proper music shop. With double strings, the mando is really hard on the fingers (especially for beginners) unless it's properly set up and adjusted. A good music shop will do that for you. If you play it regularly, expect to change the strings every 6 months, so buy them in bulk.
