@@ransomzac hi Zac, thanks for your message. A minor major 7 is a minor triad with the major seventh on top. Sounds really cool. It is very much a real thing. Just have a quick Google if you're not sure
@@ulf5202 The basics are easy, but it can get complex, maybe not as much as a guitar, but then none of the instruments he listed are very hard to play at a basic level, ukulele is a lot of fun, I have 5 guitars, a mandolin, violin and 4 recorders too, and I can play a tune on all of them, but the ukulele is a great budget instrument that isn't too intimidating in the beginning, but can be taken to a very high level if you want.
I did bought one when i was visiting rajsthan india in 2017 i still have it but i actually got it for a good price from a very fancy musical shop but non of those from local street vendors which were cheap as hell.
I love this type of instrument, they are all so cool. I'm a melodica player, and I'm seriously considering getting a stylophone or a khalimba for Christmas!
The mystery sound on the rollout piano (5:01) is called a "finger squeak" on guitar, where if you shift up the neck with your fingers dragging on the strings, you get that noise. They apparently took a sample and then pitch shifted it up and down to make a scale...?
i just brought the stylophone and heard it is quite easy to play, i did played years ago from a friend of mine and now after 40years i can finally get one of my own!
Kalimba is the best! I bought one two months ago and I'm loving it. Unlike other instruments I've tried, I find myself playing kalimba more often because it's portable, quiet enough and really easy to play. Highly highly recommended!
Not sure if this has already been commented, but that sound effect you were struggling to recognise on the roll out piano was the sound of a finger running up or down a guitar string.
I got such great footage of a guy playing the blowing keyboard and guitar at the same time in Peru. Completely wonderful. Wondering if I should post it
I think harmonica and maybe recorder are the best cheap instruments. Recorder does get expensive if you want to play it professionally. However at harmonica 50$ will pretty much get you professional level instruments that great harmonica players used even decades ago. Of course there are custom 300$ harmonicas but you won't _really_ need them. Most professionals only have few of those. Be aware tho, if you get hooked up on them then they can get expensive since there are a lot of different keys and the more experienced you get you will blow them out sooner. But still they are super affordable. I don't know any other instrument where the same model serves both beginners and professionals.
Melodica should've been number one. The fact that you can't play it doesn't take away from the fact that it is a very expressive instrument that supports the full chromatic scale (unlike the diatonic scale of the kalimba), and it can be played as a lead instrument as well as accompaniment.
Two instruments I feel I should be on this list are the 12 hole ocarina and the Yamaha YRF-21 Fife. The Ocarina is a bit pricier but easier to play, however the Fife is a little more than $10, and if you know how to play a flute you can get much more nuanced sounds out of it. With that face you can do about 80% of what you could do on a flute, however it sounds a little shrill compared to the flute or the Ocarina.
Funny made, thank you. Further super budget instruments are Kazoo (5 bucks) and noseflute (1 to 10, you would love it. edit: oh, I see you did! ). I love to play the Kalimba before I fall asleep. Makes me calm and peacy for the night.
How about a recorder? Harmonica? Ukulele? (you can get a pretty good soprano for around 50 quid, 20 if you don't mind a cheap plastic one) Ocarina? I mean only the melodica and panflute could een really be played seriously out of these.
Really don't like these choices. I'd give it a 1 out 5. You can get a fairly decent one of the following instruments at these prices. Anything cheaper and you sacrifice too much quality. 5: Lyre Harp - $50 4: Ukulele - $40 3: Kalimba - $25 2: Ocarina - $15 1: Harmonica - $15

That means Hamon users are pro melodica players.
I love how this channel is centered around music instruments and James cant play a single one
That’s the truth. If you’re going to have someone review musical instruments by all means pick someone who singularly lacks an ear
Don't feel bad--I can't either.
