Nice guitar and demo. I have the Q52 and I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried one in a shop. I bought it and it is one of the easiest guitars I have to play. Feels way more slinky than my towel guitars with the same scale length.
I hate headless guitars look, but this thing seems like the ultimate travel guitar, well made and purpose built. I might have to buy one.
You got a real nice fretboard there
Just a FYI, the QX versions are not multiscale, they have a 8 degree offset angle to make fretting difficult chords and tapping easier when playing with the neck inclined.
@Kno The angling of the frets makes playing chords in a more classical sitting position a bit easier, I like it my brother likes it as well, No regrets at all.

Awesome guitars. I love and play mainly headless guitars now. Im glad to see Ibanez bring these out. I want one, but not until the tremolo bar is added to it, then I will get one for sure.
I've heard similar comments about holding out for a tremolo. Is there one announced? Would seem that will require a significant design effort.
Actualyl I called Ibanez(USA) and asked if there were plans for a tremolo bar version coming out soon. They said that there were no plans as of now, but that could always change. So, I gave in, pulled the trigger and went ahead and ordered one. Im such a WUSS! I cant help it, they are so cool. Oh well, I ate my words, I admit it.
My Steinbergers have tremolo bars, so Im good.
I think that maybe if an artist request a signature model with it, otherwise I don't think that is likely, as they have had models with special body shapes that never got a tremolo bridge.
Me too, waiting to see if they release a new version with tremolo for 2023 NAAM. Other wise maybe I'll get one and mod it
Do you run into any 60 cycle hum on the single coil positions? I just watched this and your other video as well, super clean playing!
There is some, but it's very faint. Much less than other single coils I've used.
Great demo. I have been scouring the Internet looking for a demo showing more classic clean and over driven tones of this guitar. What are you plugged into?
I'm running a Victory Jack preamp into a Revv D20. Everything is direct via the Two Notes software in the Revv.

So you are using only the Revv poweramp and most of the sound comes from the Victory?
@@iloveitall Yes, I'm bypassing the Revv preamp altogether. For the lead tone I'm hitting the Jack with a JRocket Archer Ikon for a little mid boost as well.

hey thanks for the video i thoroughly enjoyed your review. it's been about three years, have your thoughts changed about this guitar? what do you like/not like about it?
I did not end up keeping the guitar that long. While it plays great and had some nice tones I found the overall character of the guitar lacking. When I picked it up it just didn't inspire me. Maybe I'm just getting old :-P

Yes. Since the nut pays less of role there's less chance for things to get askew.
Great playing. Seems to be on the warmer side? Is that the nature of the pickups or your settings? How would you compare it to other HSS guitars? Trying to figure out if it's good for 'travel and noodling' or would you pick it to gig and over other guitars. Thanks
I think the warmth might be a mix but more my settings - especially for the gain tones. I found the guitar to be rather neutral in tone. I liked the guitar, but found it a little sterile. In this price range, personally I'd look for a Schecter - either the Nick Johnston or maybe the Van Nuys Traditional.
@@davlavmusic7070 Thanks for the reply. I've got a Schecter Van Nuys that I modded the bridge pickup and sound great. Also a Fender plus. The reason I looked at this was for travel but didn't want something just sitting when not on the road (which is not that often). I was looking at some other headless models and if I go cheap I saw a video on Eart that looked ok. Just trying not to buy something I wouldn't use more than travel. Is everything standard as in sizing so if I wanted to replace the pickups it could easily be done? Thanks again or the input.
@@TheOldFlyguy Its definitely a usable guitar in line with the Schecter. And the sizing is normal - can certainly mod the pickups all you want. Keep in mind that the switching is unique so there might be some tricks involved - not sure.
Whats it look like under the pickgaurd? Is the black finish there or is it hallowed out cavity? Could you take it off and it still look good?
Just looked - It's finished w/ no cavity. The single coil pickups are mounted onto the pickguard and there are 7 screws mounting the pickguard to the body.

I'm pretty sure it's made in Indonesia.
So much design changes but they got the worst selector button possible...
Both switches feel fine to me. My main complaint is where they are located. Sometimes its hard to get around the volume knob to change the pickup.
Looks like the fretboard is as wide as a pizza spatula and hardly fits them with small hands if you are going to take Hendrix chords!
The nut is 42mm, so this is a thinner neck than most Ibanez guitars.
@@davlavmusic7070 I mean the fretboard down by the guitar body. at the saddle it looks ok but looks to be really wide down at band 12 and down? but it can be an illusion.
@@GripperCc I think its just an illusion. The fretboard width all along matches the dimensions of my Fender Strat exactly.

You're right, when they first came out I saw the slanted frets and assumed multi scale since I didn't buy one of those. My mistake. Curious as to what info is incorrect about this guitar in the review?
