    Is this AD/DA converter only for plugging monitors, or I can use it for recording tracks? I have UCX and considering upgrading. Kind regards.

      If you are wondering if it’s an interface, the answer is no. You would still need your UCX or another interface.

      @@DadoSimicStudiostriver I had to make an assumption about what “can it be used for recording tracks” meant. We’re you asking if it’s an interface, a literal recording device, or can it be used to help you record better tracks? Either way it can’t replace your UCX. The pro version can, but I wouldn’t replace a UCX with the pro version either. I would just add it to your interface.

    I am contemplating this unit vs the Pro FS R ... So little user experience online. I don't really need the DSP and screens in the Pro version as I am using Sonarworks and I've got thrree individually calibrated headphones, the EQ in the Pro version would be redundant in my case - I just wonder whether this unit is really the same as the Pro version minus the DSP and screens and only one headphone output? That is what the marketing sais...and of course a little bit less headroom here and there I see on the specs sheet... I wonder whether the headphone output on this one would be an improvement vs buying any of the new generation RME audio interfaces...

    So for example, if I just wanna sit down and do some mixing and mastering with my laptop I need to put of my Babyface Pro then connect the ADI 2 FS to it via ADAT and then start fiddling, it's too much hassle. I prefer the ADI 2 DAC fs just one USB cable and plug it into my laptop and it is an audio interface. THen open my DAW and start working.
    Don't need the AD of ADI 2 FS, I have great AD on my BFP, so the logical conslusion will be to get the ADI 2 DAC FS plus it's extra features it offers.

    Adrian! If u see dis can u plz answer my question. Danke!
    So i know that adi2 fs(not pro) has adda converter.
    Which means, if i have a mic pre, i should be able to connect mic pre - adda converter (adi2 fs) and to computer.
    My question is, i realized that adi2pro! Has rme usb 2 but adi2 (not pro) doesnt.
    So do i need to use adat or spidif or some sort to connect from..
    A) mic pre - adi2 fs
    B) adi2 fs - computer
    ??
    Thnx in advance.

    • @RMEAudio
      @RMEAudio  4 года назад +1

      Hey, the ADI-2 FS is intended to expand your existing interface with high quality AD/DA. Therefore you don't need a USB interface. You simply connect the ADI-2 FS either via ADAT or S/PDIF.
      Adrian :-)

    • @musicxtech6680

      Ahhhhh i Seee. So it was for ppl (lets say, babyface pro users) to upgrade adda converter by linking it to adi 2 fs !!
      So, if i get adi2 pro fs (with usb if i am correct), then i can hook mic pre - adi 2 pro fs - computer (via usb) and that whole "chain" becomes interface i assume?
      P.s. Love ur youtune channel.
      I saw u using hedd tpe 05 but have u tried (or heard Reproducer Epic 05? Some ppl claim its sound tendancy (philosphy) is similar to that of amphion's.

    Is the phone output connected with the Main DA outputs? Can't seem to separate the two. Ie. Turning headphones up turns speakers up and vice versa

    • @x86FTW
      @x86FTW 3 года назад

      Circuit diagram in the manual suggests they are linked. You can supposedly disable volume control for main outs bypassing the potentiometer, but then the main outs run full signal. Its one of the defaults of this unit's design where you can't disable XLR output when monitoring with phones. In a studio setup it makes it a challenge as you now need a monitor controller to mute your monitors when using the phones on the ADI-2 FS. They should have included a volume control for both main outs and headphones independently. Who listens on phones when output still going to speakers? You could always turn off monitors when using phones but its a huge oversight IMO.
