Jerry Nolan, very good friend of mine the drummer in the Johnny Thunders Heartbreakers actually taught Peter Chriss from Kiss ow to play Drums. Long live the Heartbreakers and the New YORK DOLLS!
Hah, i had johnny stay at my house in detroit when they played at nunzios gangwar with wayne kramer, back when they had REAL ludes, had z trans am we cruised Woodward and went to het coneys
I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)! Your comment warms my heart! Reminds me how close JT was to our culture. 'Course I was probably out-of-town at that time. Still! Peace. Stay Healthy! - Dave B.
In 77 they toured the hell out of the UK. I saw them in Feb 77, then Johnny took a LOT more of the vocals and ALL the GT Solos. They were absolutely phenomenal. I wish we could have a record of Johnny as I remember him. Clearly this DVD is not it. Johnny in his prime and "OK" did not take a backseat like he does on this DVD.
Billy Rath and Walter Lure don't get enough credit. They held the band together,Billy always carrying the rythem and Walter always picking up the slack from Thunders when he wasen't sober ect. Im glad they have gigs of Thunders whens hes completely fine,he was a great guy and very friendly. It's too bad hes known as just a junkie, but to us his real fans hes known as a the James Dean of Rock n Roll, dirty sleezy kickassing guitar wheeling god.
Walter Johnny Billy Jerry. One track mind for rock n roll and life as a like. Everybody want something. (he said) to these guys and he has right. I think....
That is how I remember him. As the brilliantly raunchy, colorful, and sloppy guitarist of the New York Dolls, and as the closest player punk had to a Chuck Berry when he was playing with the Heartbreakers on L.A.M.F. That fact remains that he was a junkie and that the shit affected his playing on many live recordings. If you have any shows of his on mp3 that prove contrary to what I've said, then I am all ears. Send them to me. I honestly WANT to be proven wrong in my assessment.
@JabberOff i think he was a great guitar player but i once saw him play in london and he was so `out of it` as his arm came to strum he was actually completely missing the strings at another london gig he asked the audience `if anyone had a joint` in typical english humour/sarcasm someone shouted `beef or lamb`
i hate how johnny was always turned up a little more than walter...jt is one of my favorite and reasons why i picked up a guitar but so isent walter and walter carried the band and did alot more
hey, come see Billy Raths Street Pirates....rock n roll still lives....it aint all in the past....check out Billy Raths Street Pirates page on facebook and catch up.....you're missing the whole thing......You want to hear it we'll come to you.....we need your support....keep real rock n roll alive
@slurpslurpkitty I see him doing it at the first two points you mentioned but between 4:08-4:13 he doesn't do it one time but you cal still hear the slide and Walter isn't doing it either, I hope someone else isn't playing it backstage...
This is a good performance, especially for JT. On most of the live recordings I've heard of his, he is too junked out to remember his lyrics, let alone play.
Don't take my comment as a denigration of the rest of the band, they were all awesome, but in their prime, they were as they were titled... Johnny Thunders Heartbreakers.
Thank you!!! The best heartbreakers video on the net. God, they were good when they could keep it together!!!

fucking lair!!!
That's not Peter Criss he never played with the Heartbreakers.....
@@henripaultortosa3022 He never said that Criss played in the Heartbreakers. He said that Nolan TAUGHT Criss to play. This is an accepted fact.

Rest in Peace Walter Lure 💔 The Heartbreakers are together again, ripping up Heaven
I saw the Heartbreakers in 1978 at the Mabuhay Gardens and they were AMAZING.
I was there, too. Too dumb to know what was going on. 23 years old... Now? Damn!...
I love the song TOO MUCH JUNKIE BUSINESS!
+Alan Lloyd Great tune!
Waldo wrote it. Johnny loved it.

Day and night. I love you.

Nice to see the man and co so young and alive, as always a mighty spirit.

@creeg Walter just played and had a reunion with Billy Rath. Our two Heartbreakers sounded amazing together once again.
You’re the best Tate
love Walter Lure
L.A.M.F. NYC next month!!!
I played on that show with the Liars/Sudden Fun!!!
@JabberOff i think he was a great guitar player but i once saw him play in london and he was so `out of it` as his arm came to strum he was actually completely missing the strings at another london gig he asked the audience `if anyone had a joint` in typical english humour/sarcasm someone shouted `beef or lamb`
Simple. But the guitar tone from Johnny 1:11-1:23 is so rockin'. "Finding" notes... Right? We all know that...well, too much junkie business...
its '84 in england, lyceum theater
congratulations. today this video was selected by the NYC Punk Rock Evolution Foundation.
Song ends good time for Billy to light up another one 🚬 lol
“A lot of people want to be abused, by I’m not gonna abuse them... unless they abuse me” Johnny Thunders.

@pennywise39
without the drug use of the musicians, this music would not have existed...
Very cool
+swineburn Yes, very cool.
i like how they keep pushing each other lol
Yeah that's cool and funny in performing this song ;-)
@5:17 hell yeah-- John goes surfin
i hate how johnny was always turned up a little more than walter...jt is one of my favorite and reasons why i picked up a guitar but so isent walter and walter carried the band and did alot more

Lure rules!
❤👑🍸
@mariosthunders
Amen!
John was great, messed or not.

What a load of bullshit.
immortale
Hey, I'm don't know much about JT&H, but is Walter Lure singing here far more than Johnny Thunders? How's that on the album(s)?
Walter sang 5 on LAMF, but only here and there afterwards. It’s been 11 years so I’m sure you already know now.
I assume this was around '77, same year as L.A.M.F.?

just read " please kill me" great book i recommend for anyone who wants the inside scoop on this whole scene.
Please Kill Me is an entertaining work of fiction.
Totally agree. There's a lot of depravity. Whatever...
a good and bad day for punk. wow!
@zosothedestroyer I have nothing against you...
Don't take my comment as a denigration of the rest of the band, they were all awesome, but in their prime, they were as they were titled... Johnny Thunders Heartbreakers.
"JT &" was a mistake.
You mean johnny was the most important? Fair enough
Se llamaban así para distinguirse de Tom Petty
this is playback?
@tybeebeech
"everybody wants some drug" :)
good news, they have a film of the band
bad news, the band way past prime
Love this version don't think they were past prime there.
Not at all.
if Wally got paid it wasn't from JT
