The Isle of Lewis, Isle of Mull and the Caledonian Isles are my favourites as the car decks are enclosed so you don't hear the infernal car alarms going off when your sitting on the open decks!
Jim McIntosh That is what makes me like them too. However, despite the annoying car alarms, MV Clansman is my favourite in the fleet, with Isle Of Mull coming in second
I'm glad they took those ridiculous looking exhaust pipes off the Isle of Lewis's funnels. (Didn't know until now, since I haven't seen the ship since it was replaced by the Loch Seaforth)
On which clip? Both berths at Oban have linkspans so it may just be out of shot for the first two. The ferry's ramp is folded inside, this is what makes the bow watertight. It folds out once berthed.
@@edr.cars1 Thanks. The last time I was in Oban was in mid 1960s with my parents. The Calmac fleet was a lot different then. If I remember on some ships the vehicles load by side ramp the a lift took them to the car deck.
Even with their open car decks, I think Clansman and Hebrides are the best looking ships in the fleet. They've both got a flair that's missing from their fleet mates.
I agree, the Clansman and Isle Of Mull are my favourites. But I think it's because Clansman and Hebrides look so tough and look as though they can smash through anything. They sound good too.
It's a shame CalMac bowed to the pressure of the islanders and Clansman doesn't see as much relief work as she used to. I always enjoyed travelling on her when she came down to relieve on the Arran crossing.

WonkyTonkBotty yes, they looked stupid
My friend cad went there in May 2021
Why is the bow opening when there doesn't appear to be vehicle loadlng facilty?

@@gavinpotts6747 Yes, they did used to be like that, how times have changed.
