- On September 19, 2021, I walked from Castle Vitturi in Kastel Luksic to the Statue of a Horseman which is in the middle of Kastel Stari and Kastel Novi. I was fortunate to be walking toward a great sunset for most of the stroll. Along the way, I stop to visit some cats that live at a carnival site next to the abandoned Palace Hotel.
At the end of August, a tiny little fair or carnival was going on here. There was a bumper car stage, you can see the leftover frame and skeleton in this video, and 2 or 3 other very small riders (merry go round, teacups maybe?) as well as a few stalls. I suspect it is a recurring event due to the stage remaining for weeks after it closed and the other rides being stored in a lot just behind the bumper car stage.
I discovered the cats on a walk through the area and happened to be carrying food for a kitten I had seen on the beach nearby earlier. I went back many times and there were between 4 and 13 cats around depending on time of day. I saw other people bring food or arrived to find food already there for the cats. They weren't scared of me but only one or two would let me get close enough to pet them, so I was content to hang around and watch them, eat, play or lounge around.

Thank you for sharing. This shows the last image I have of my sister, who sadly passed away in Kastel Strari last October
I live in Štafilić and know this walk intimately. Thank you for the video!
That's great to hear! It's a beautiful area. I took this walk a few times. Sunsets are amazing.

Such a sad story of Palace Hotel. I have heard Grad Kaštela politicians are to blame?
