    What really strikes me about these videos that feature Aiko and Shin in particular is the richness of experience that you, Greg, are providing them.The international travel, the local travel experiences, the bilingual upbringing, and just the amount of time to be in their lives is heartening. You are a great dad! Oh, and we get out of our town because our dog makes us take her for rides in the car on weekends, so we have driven every street in our county and the six surrounding ones as well. Because of her, we have seen so many wonderful nearby sites that are overlooked, and we appreciate her for it.

      First time seeing it, but, I guess, this is how they raise those chicken that goes to make chicken sashimi. And, no, I didn't write that wrong, chicken is really something that is served raw in Japan in very specific places. I guess, making sure the chicken is 100 % clean at all times is part of how they do it (the issue with chicken is bacteria on the outside, not in the meat itself).

      They aren’t diapers. Good lord 😂 It’s a pouch that sits under the cloaca that catches the eggs for free range chickens. That way you don’t have to search your entire property for the eggs and end up with rotten ones exploding in the summer heat or accidentally gathering old eggs when you’re looking for newer/fresh eggs. It just so happens that the cloaca is also where they’re waste is expelled...both solid and liquid waste. One hole = all bodily functions

    Shin’s awkward left-handedness made me chuckle, that was my whole life story as a child! It took me till 6th grade to learn how to shake hands with other people among other things lol. I wonder if it’s more or less inconvenient for him to write in Japanese than in English?

    • @qqnxj712

    • @themightyflog
      @themightyflog 5 лет назад +20

      I think that is great people consider others but also lame in some areas. I get vacation I'm going to take it and expect my coworkers to do the same. It has been proven that over working and not taking vacation does not lead to more efficiency but less. Japanese do need to get over that just a little. I guess there is no perfect culture in the world. In Latin America folks don't consider anybody. Electrician says he'll be there at 12:00 and he shows up at 2 the next day. But people are less stressed and more relaxed in life. Japan everything works and folks are considerate. If they say 1:00 they will be at your door at 12:50. Latin America being on time and early for a party is considered rude. Cultures are the funniest thing.
      Americans don't take vacation often either. We get less time than most countries...but for me I don't care about the company. I'm their worker and they are my paycheck. I remember when they would need me to work overtime or not take vacation...I'd take it anyways. I control me. Job doesn't control me. Proud of never working overtime my whole life but still being a great worker.

    • @wctoronto
      @wctoronto 5 лет назад +1

      Rachel Lazenby Perhaps, that’s the case, if they are no longer exposed to English in their new home country...like the people you know. That’s not the case with Aiko and Shin. Greg speaks English to them on a daily basis, because he’s not fluent in Japanese. It helps tremendously to have parents speak different languages to maintain what they learned in their younger years. That’s how I am multi-lingual even though I was born and raised in Canada. I speak almost fluent Cantonese (2nd language), because my parents spoke to me in that dialect most of the time and I also attended classes in my younger years. I understand some Toisan too (4th language), because my mother’s side of the family speaks it, but not as fluent as my Cantonese, because I only hear her speak that dialect periodically. Same with French (3rd language), learned it in school, but only exposed to it occasionally (it’s Canada’s 2nd official language)...so, I could only speak/understand simple French conversations. Retention and fluency of a language is determined by how often you speak and hear that language.

    Looks like Aiko is right, "cool and cool". No offense to Greg but the mum must be beautiful, both those kids are very good looking and they seem to behave well.

      Who knows, but yeah they are both cute kids. More importantly, like their parents they will grow to be good people. Again, I don't know about the mum but Greg just seems like great guy and if he lived next door, I would probably be friends with him. Do you get that impression too? That and his talent are the success of his channel.

    Nice video. I"d really appreciate it if you would provide english subtitles to your videos. The auto-generated ones only work so much until your subtitles show and can't actually be seen because of the generated ones

      Yes, I have been pestering about doing the captions from the beginning to the end rather than allowing RUclips to auto-generate the subtitles. It's really a big letdown when the subtitles contain errors or don't show up for a while.

    This is such a sweet vacation that your kids will remember for their whole lives. My dad used to take my sister and I on these kinds of educational vacations all over California. We lived in Orange County, but he would take us to the natural history museum in Los Angeles, or to Balboa Park in San Diego, or to the Monterey Bay aquarium, or to San Francisco... we would always be learning something new. Of course we'd also go to the beach and amusement parks and try restaurants too, but it can be a lot of fun to share history and new learning... it's so great watching Aiko and Shin taking it all in.
