    Thanks for making these fantastic videos. One remark: electric force should be a vector, and you state that it is a vector, but you give a scalar expression. Do you agree? Is there some correction you would make to the formula in the video?

    • @FlippingPhysics
      @FlippingPhysics  7 лет назад

      I do give the scalar expression and yes I agree electric force is a vector. In general I do not give the vector expression which uses the unit vector r because I found it to be more confusing for students. I find it more understandable for students to use the scalar equation and then find the direction using a free body diagram. FYI: RUclips does not allow corrections in videos...

    Hi Flippin Physics!
    I wanted to self study college-level E&M, which is pretty much the exact same as AP Physics C, E&M.
    However, I struggled quite a bit in mechanics! -- understood the concepts ok -- but froze during exams!!
    I wanted to ask you for ways to regain my confidence in physics and be able to not only patch up any grey areas in mechanics, but use that to springboard me into mastery of E&M! Any ideas?
    Worksheets, problem sets, conceptual understanding, a pep talk, anything!
    I've had great grades and knew how to study many high-level classes (including orgo 2!) but am struggling to apply what I know to my other science classes to physics specifically!
    ANYTHING HELPS!

    • @duckymomo7935
      @duckymomo7935 7 лет назад +1

      yes and no
      because of Stoke's Theorem and Divergence Theorem, all double integrals can be reduced to a line integral or extended to triple integral.
      Or that the notation is reduced to single integral symbol despite it being double/triple integral. It's a physics thing.

    I want to take ap physics c next year but my math has always been behind. I am taking ap physics b right now while concurrently taking algebra 2. At first it was overwhelming, but I got used to everything and I now have a 99 in physics. I was wondering if I could somehow learn the calculus required for this course during the summer or would that be too difficult? I plan on going to georgia tech and majoring in physics/astronomy.

    • @FlippingPhysics
      @FlippingPhysics  6 лет назад +1

      1) AP Physics B has not been a course since about 2013. So chances are good you are either taking AP Physics 1 or AP Physics 2. And it matters which one you are taking for my answer to your question.
      2a) Have you taken geometry?
      2b)Have you taken algebra trig?
      3) Are you a junior now and hoping to take AP Physics C during your senior year?
      4) Does your school offer AP Physics C: Mechanics or AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism or Both?

      Sounds like you could take precalculus over the summer and then take AP Calculus concurrently with AP Physics C during your senior year. Typically Calculus is a co-requisite for AP Physics C.

      Flipping Physics I can't do that because it is $500 over the summer to take precal. And i would have soo much work becuase I am also taking ap chem, ap german, and ap econ. I don't know if it would be possible to get a precal book over the summer to learn?

    If the distance between two charges go from 2m to 1m, what would be the net charge? Both have a charge of +q

      I think your teacher is in a much better position to answer you question that I am.

      He doesn't explain it well nor does he tell the answer. It's just a simple question, I'm sorry if I said something wrong but I've seen a lot of your videos and it's a shame to see you act this way.
