  • There are a lot of variables at play between both engine packages. This video isn't to say one in better than the other, just thought it was on interesting comparison between each package.

    The OK-N with being direct drive definetly struggles out of slow corners with the bad bottom end but an incredible top end. The engine would appricate a richer mix out of the corners

    Wow, ngl, expected the ok-n to be much faster, definitely not slower than a x-30.

    Tires? Weight? Lots of variables. But if you look at tuscon COTA the rok shifters were barely quicker than OKN.

    Track maybe too short and tight for OK-N, Rev of OK-N is lower than X30, is that a right setting for OK-N?

      I think OKn is closer to a shifter engine price wise so around 6-8k almost double what an x30 costs

    • @aidanfox7809

      Definitely not shifter price, around the 4500 mark for full package

      Very late, but as I'm aware, it costs more than an X30 upfront, but cheaper on the long run due to lower maintenance costs
      Could be wrong on that

    This is a joke from CIK... not even faster than a x30 with more weight (battery, wirin harness, clutch...) and then you have to push start. Well done CIK, well done! I don't see any need for that. Imho the CIK should aim more towards an old formula super A type with OK engines, 30mm carbs and 18k rev limit. That would be crazy and on certain tracks as fast as a shifter.

    • @eloped420

      it wasn't made to be faster than the x30, it was made to compete with it and dethrone the x30 (and Rotax) to bring back karting to be a sport where no matter where you went, everyone was driving the same category (like you said with FSA). Also worth mentioning that the OK-N is supposed to be using the White Vega tire according to CIK, which is a tire vastly superior to the yellow MG used here, but I get that for comparison it was necessary to use it. Unfortunately, nowadays the x30 has a pretty good grip on most of Europe, and most teams don't see the point of doing it as there is a lot less drivers, and in most cases costs more than running x30!. 1 of the major engine brands (won't name) have said privately that they already tried boycotting the category and essentially said they don't give a singular f about manufacturing these engines.

    • @fab9727
      @fab9727 Год назад

      @@eloped420 What are you talking about? CIK failed 2x with KF and OK and will fail third time with OK-N. Just bring some excitement back. Considering Karts became heavier over the years. To be hones x30 is a very good solution but one make series. If the cik isn‘t able to provide some excitement there will be Mini, Rotax and x30 in the seniors and shifter.

    • @eloped420
      @eloped420 Год назад

      @@fab9727 I agree with you, situation is deliate and to be fair it is too hard to introduce a new widespread unified category in the current state of karting. Karting is too saturated with categories right now so it would be way too difficult to bring back something like the golden age of karting. Nowadays you are simply better off with running x30 if you want exciting racing.

      I race those 😎 they're mega! They're over 20 years old, and are the same speed as a senior OK or X30 at PFi or Whilton Mill. But mine revs to 20k RPM
