That was a positive breath of fresh air! Cheers. 😊 nice straight forward and no nonsense look at your costs and sounds perfectly reasonable to me, once you've got out of the two week millionaire mindset! I liked your response to the person who said that's existing and you pointed out that you were sat having a coffee looking at the sea as opposed to commuting to a job to just pay the bills. 😉
@@andyburton8346 yes Andy, its difficult to know for sure and we love to visit places as well which will always push the budget 😁 but maybe after the initial wanderlust we would be happy to just amble around locally. I'm not adverse to sitting down and watching the world go by, maybe with a book to read. Just think of the joy of not having to go to work! 😊
After a few weeks a lot of people will avoid the tourist spots completely, whilst others are at their happiest chatting in a bar all day long. Guess you need to find what works best for you. Probably good to compromise between the two.@@andrewoakley4957
Living in North East Thailand on 27,000 baht a month for the last three years Its about lifestyle.. after a corporate career in the UK i work out 7 days a week , brought a Honda wave bike take trips out into the countryside and go trekking and the amazing nature here,or ,maybe sit in town chatting in Thai to local.Thai people non drinker not into the bar scene.. Maybe to some it existing..... ,for me I'm in control my destiny and living the dream.. If course i appreciate if you want a life of booze woman then 50,000 baht would be 5he starting point.. We are all different and should respect each others choices
Yeah, I'm on a 12 month contract - the prices (and number of places) are much cheaper than doing month to month. Also electricity is govt. rate, whereas the 'monthly' places can often charge double that rate. There are many one month places available though if you look around, Probably best to stay at a hotel for a couple of nights, hire a bike, and check out down the sidestreets or have an agent help you.
@@DeanoRav yes that’s right.. thank you, I might go and check the apartments here nearby I saw a few apartment buildings in my area . So just to make sure, when you said go look around you meant look for apartment buildings ? (For the one month stay)
Yeah, most places will have an office. They'll either be able to rent out directly or put you in touch with an agent who is renting out someones place in the building @@tsunamiii8641
You'll probably need to do four trips to immigrtion if you don't use an agent. Then again the immigration office is at Jomtien so it's handy. Cycling, some nice spots once you get beyomd third road, but tbh for cycling I think Chiang Mai (Northern Thailand in general) is the place to be (you'll see lots of pros doing winter training there too). Failing that, the road in the Koh Samet area are a lot quieter, and I feel better riding than the jomtien area.
I am in Jomtien. I am having my morning coffee and looking out at the sea. I feel quite alive :) I could be on the morning commute, ready to spend all day in a job I hate, earning just enough money to pay off the bills and the plan for my latest iPhone: That to me is existing! Besides. I mention a few times that the $750 a month is more about getting your core living costs down so that you can spend the rest of your pension on living life to the fullest. (Chiang Mai: I used Facebook Marketplace as an example of how to go about finding an apartment here. With a little effort you can find a nice place, to suit your budget, pretty much anywhere in Thailand (well maybe not central Bangkok).
Yeah fantastic , sitting there drinking your water while everyone else is living it up ... no thanks Dont think about living here with under 60-70000bt for a decent life ...
depends who you are as a person right? I live like this. And so happy. I have more expensives because i take care of my son. I do not drink. No thai girl lol. But i enjoy the outdoors swimming and fishing with my son

Yeah, money definitely goes a little further here that in the UK!
Still think £1100 -£1250 🇬🇧absolute minimum, I would’ve thought but that’s just my thought and a non drinker

Hey, did you sign a contract for a longer stay?
I can’t seem to find a condo that the minimum stay is for 1 month
Edit: thx for the vid by the way

@@DeanoRav and how do you feel about Airbnb ? I’ve heard it’s illegal to rent in apartment building through airbnb for less then one month
I don't use it anymore, I find the cleaning fees and other add on costs make a couple of nights in a hotel less hassle.

Where in Thailand do you stay ?
I was in Jomtien when I made this video.
1900baht for visa? you did without agent? also, curious of your opinion of Jombtien road cycling within 100km - good for a retiring cyclst?

It all depends on your lifestyle!
All those Morons who claim you need B100k + to have a nice time.
I guess everyone is different, some people have expensive tastes or stay in holiday mode for ever. I enjoy a more simple life.
Your not in chang mai because no beach there its main land . You only exist on 750 dollars its not living. Most will want double that and more .
