It’s kinda insane for $2k rooftop tents there isn’t a simple heater duct port and one has to hack it into the zipper door..

I’ve recently purchased the same heater, I haven’t used it camping yet but I have tried it out. It works great. I’ve also purchased a RTT, the Topoak clamshell. It has slightly more head room with the pop out design. Great videos. I’m in MS and enjoy watching. 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

Nice, but I would recommend that you open your garage doors next time for ventilation... While diesel creates less carbon monoxide than gasoline when combusted, that little heater can still produce a lethal amount.

Very nice setup. I like that it is all set up together like that vs the vevor. How well would that smaller generator do with it? I don’t camp enough to justify spending that much on the larger generator, so just wondering about that. Thanks for the demo!

In comments I've seen statements about using the buddy heater. Heres my take
    4 days deer hunting
    Temp between 16°f and 30°f
Amazon 8k diesel heater installed in a harbor freight apache handgun case i built 2 yrs ago, 300$ total invested
Weize 100 amp hour battery, $300(amazon)
Little buddy heater would burn 1 pound propane bottle every 13hrs, 7$ per bottle x5 , thats 35$ for 4 days.
Offroad diesel fuel, 4 gallons for 4 days 12$
Buddy uses interior space, fire hazard, condesation issues, Carbon momoxide risk, and 35$ in fuel, plus 60$ for Little Buddy
Diesel heater, 300$, 12$ in fuel, DRY heat, sits outside using no interior space, no carbom monocide or fire risk.
Overall, after 42 days of useage the diesel heater starts SAVING money vs Little Buddy, less risks, more interior space.
The battery will power heater for 7 days before it hits 12v, down from 13.8. And the battery powers lights amd heater without an imverter.
If your car camping, i just can't see a logical reason to iuse the little buddy for camping. 4 gallons of diesel(12$) vs 5 LPG cans?
Sure now you gotta carry diesel and propane?
Buy the MSR dragonfly that runs on diesel- no pressurized LGP cans, and if you have a diesel vehicle.......

Have you considered running a 12 volt car seat heating pad and place it inside your sleeping bag????

I found on Iceco the pecron uses less electric using 12 volt it might e same with heater

That’s probably true across the board. Going through the inverter uses more power itself

For now I use a buddy heater in roof top tent trailer, but I put it on a cookie sheet so if it does get knocked over it is on a steel pan. I have yet to knock one over. I do have the same concerns, but I haven't actually had any issues with it whatsoever. I do like your diesel set up, but it is 4 times the cost and now you have to haul an extra fuel just for that. I am not saying I am not into it, it's just a lot. That said, I do appreciate the video. Thank you

Love your videos, but not a huge fan of the gimble camera. When your super close to it or right infront of it the constant movement is a little distracting for me. Constructive criticism not hate mail ;)

Why is no one using K1 kerosene to fuel their diesel heaters?

I see one problem with this setup. How you control temperature? Normally temperature sensor is at control unit, if you hang it inside of tent, it won’t be blasting on full all the time

TJ, awesome setup. I am currently trying to find someone to teach me some welding without having to go to school for it. I would not be welding much, and do not want to pay a shop rates of $125 an hour. Have changed my plans for the Camping/Adventure Trailer I was building, mine includes the Yakima Top Water Box, so I cannot wait to see your ideas on that. As always great video, much appreciated. Thanks.

You don’t learn to weld over night it takes practice and time
Just pay the guy the $ and get it done correctly the first time
Putting wire and buggers all over isn’t welding

    • @t3angling575
      @t3angling575 8 месяцев назад +1

@@dk78b2a5, understood. What I am saying is I do not want to go to school, pay for school and all of that, as it will not be a job, source of income, etc… for me. I am very thorough with whatever project(s) I do, and only do what I can. Never hurts to learn something new. I just do not need to be a pro at it. I will put in time, etc., no worries there. Thanks.

@@t3angling575 buy a basic wire welder. Use flux core wire, refer to the settings that are posted inside the welder or in the manual. Get some metal that’s close to the same gauge in thickness as what you’ll be using for your project. Maybe watch a few RUclips videos of folks welding with similar set up. Then practice. Practice butt joints, 90deg joints, etc. you’ll get good enough for project in short order. You’ll also gain experience as you do your project. Just remember half the battle is fitment. As little as a gap as possible when fitting up. Also, understand that you’ll need to limit the heat as you go. Work on one area, pull away and go to another area to minimize warpage. Go luck

@@jaystewart9947 thank you. Got to admit, Imma little nervous, don’t want to burn the place down. Good advice, much appreciated. Found a neighbor who used to his own stuff, his wife made him get rid of the welder. Not sure why, he didn’t say, I didn’t ask.😂
