- Founded in 1336 in the wake of the rebellions against Tughluq rule in the Deccan, the Vijayanagar empire lasted for more than two centuries as the dominant power in south India. Its history and fortunes were shaped by the increasing militarization of peninsular politics after the Muslim invasions and the commercialization that made south India a major participant in the trade network linking Europe and East Asia. Urbanization and monetization of the economy were the two other significant developments of the period that brought all the peninsular kingdoms into highly competitive political and military activities in the race for supremacy.

Going by the same logic as yours, Gajapati empire also "conquered" Vijayanagara when it was ruled by Mallikarjuna Raya.

Best king is Deva Raya II not Krishnadeva Raya. Deva Raya II's empire is bigger than Krishnadeva Raya's(no Goa, Ratnagiri and Belgaum).
Also Krishnadeva Raya imposed Telugu in Hampi(Karnataka) and Thanjavur(Tamil Nadu) unlike pure Kannadiga Deva Raya II who used Kannada in Karnataka, Telugu in AP and Tamil in TN and also supported Kerala's mathematicians.

@Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero Fan it's a kannada empire hands down harihararaya and bukaraya were the commanders of hoysala dynasty, all their inscriptions are in kannada and they saught the help of vidyaranya of Sringeri in establishing Vijayanagara emire, and the other official name of Vijayanagara empire is karnata (Karnataka) not telugu, telugu dynasty started only post aravidu dynasty, and kdr promoted telugu , more than 50% of their inscriptions are in kannada rest are in other languages. Show me one inscription of harihara and bukka in telugu. Vijayanagara exactly was the extension of Hoysala dynasty harihara's daughter was married to nephew of last king veeraballala 3rd of Hoysalas. They are all related to each other and Harihara's mother is the sister of Gandugali kumararama of kampli. They were a kannada family and the empire called themselves as Karnatas and their emblem too is the exact emblem of chalukyas who again were a kannada empire. The first fort of harihara was built at Barkur , Karnataka. Bukka 2nd was called as lion to the elephant kings of telugu. Please read history properly

It's not tuluva, it's talava which is mispronounced as tuluva later, tuluva dynasty came later and they are mistaken as affiliated to tulu speakers, that's not true. It's talava nayakas and there are not even a single inscriptions of tulu in the entire history of tuluva dynasty. Tuluva doesn't mean Tulu. They are 100% kannadigas not telugu I will tell you why apart being a kannada king Harihara assumed the Kannada titles Purvapaschima Samudradhishvara (Master of eastern and western and occeans), Arirayavibhada (fire to the enemy kings) and Bhashegetappuvarayaraganda (punisher of the ruler who failed to keep a promise).
It has been pointed out that even famous Telugu scholars Vallabharaya and Srinatha, in their works called the Sangama brothers Karnata Kshitinatha, indicating they were a Kannada family.
An early inscription of Harihara II called him , Lion to the scent elephant of the Andhra king, demonstrating their anti-Telugu propensity. Persian author Ferishta of Vijayanagara days wrote the emperors as "Roies of Karnataka".
Their capital Vijayanagara was built by veeraballala 3 which was named Vijayavirupaksha hospattana which was later called Vijayanagara, their god virupaksha is a kannada god virupaksha temple built by chalukyas of Vatapi.
Sangama brother's even signed their recordings in kannada not in telugu. What more explanation you need ? 😀

The first of the Aravidus, Tirumala Deva Raya (reigned from 1565-1572) was shit, and nothing much happened, the second one, Sriranga I ( reigned from 1572-1586), he attempts to restore the empire, but continues suffering defeats.
Venkata II (reigned from 1585-1614) was a period of revival. He was the ruler of Vijayanagara Empire with bases in Penukonda, Chandragiri and Vellore. His reign of three decades saw a revival of the strength and prosperity of the empire. He dealt successfully with the Deccan sultans of Bijapur and Golkonda, the internal disorders, promoting economic revival in the country. He brought rebelling Nayakas of Tamil Nadu and parts of present-day Andhra Pradesh under control.
But after his death his successor Sriranga II's ascension to the throne was objected by Venkata II's favourite queen Obayamma and a set of nobles headed by Gobburi Jagga Raya (either father or brother of Obayamma), this civil war permanently fucked over the empire and any chances of revival. Now the Aravidus after this war basically just hung on with the help of Keladis and Nayakas.
It's Kannada empire which destroyed by teluguns(nayudus) and aariyan(abistu/mama/brahmin) who joined hands with bahamani sultanates and killed talavara kuruba achyuta raya.... .
