I was wondering what was in the lower level and if the teenager could have had a bedroom set up for her down there. Maybe even a play room for the baby. Also storage for clutter.
Why does the baby need a separate playroom? At first I thought they didn't have an extra room for the baby when he grows up to have a separate room but then I realized they actually have one. And when the older child is already a teenager (depending how old she is) she might move out in a few years anyways.
I am amazed, by all the people who are unable, to see through the clutter, and understand, that they are not buying the furniture, the clutter, or the babystuff... Like everything inside seems to be very well kept, some colors needs to be changed, but other than that, lovely. My priority as a buyer, would be outside, like how much time before I need to paint, do the windows keep the standard, how is the roof?

My husband and I raised 4 girls in 900sf. We finally needed to sell due to needing more space. We boxed up every single thing, deep cleaned and repainted a neutral color, and our home sold in 24 hours. Tho we have 4 kids, Clutter is a HUGE turn off.
You don't even need all that stuff for a baby!... I had two kids and didn't have any where near half that amount of baby stuff... Totally crazy!... I agree.. The house was OK for the family if they decluttered. I would have put the older kids in the basement (you could even divide it into two rooms) and used the upstairs bigger bedroom as parents (as they did for sale) and the one next door for the baby (the office in the sale).
They have way too much, but well, it seems to be an more or less unexpected child and they are obviously excited about them, so as long as they can afford it... But they will need an extra room in the future anyway for the child.
I am gobsmacked by people failing to do the easiest and cheapest thing- DECLUTTER!!! I have never seen so much baby stuff. Interesting they are selling when really the have one child just about to leave and the baby a year away from not needing any of that extra stuff. Would have loved to see the basement- there was probably a way to utilize that space for a office, storage etc

My own family have been working on buying less "stuff" and buying things we need or special things and less stuff that sits, gathers dust, and is eventually thrown away. With the increasing population of the earth, we will run out of landfills (not good long-time trash disposal anyway). We absolutely need to take care of our planet or it won't last us.
I think it was more so the mom could have a place to hang out with the baby during the day. But still, unnecessary. They’ll get a bigger house and then in ten years they’ll be ready to downsize.
They didn't need all the baby gear. My first baby only had a bed and a basket of toys, then a high chair at 6 months They needed to get rid of all the extra stuff not get a bigger home
This house is lovely, especially after the make over. However, I think it was a mistake to build the desk into the back room. Certainly a desk to showcase the room as an office, but if potential buyers would rather use it as a sitting room they are now going to have to rip out the desk and deal with the repairs that come with doing it. A free standing desk would have been a much better choice.
There's enough room for everyone they just need to get rid of some of their clutter. Plus they never mentioned the basement which would have a ton of space I'd imagine

If I had been viewing this property I could have seen beyond the clutter and easily have imagined it after being decluttered. I actually liked a lot of the decor and 'stuff'. That's not say it didn't look amazing after the team had been in, it did. It would have been interesting to see what condition the basement was in. The family must have had mixed emotions about leaving a charming home.
I know exactly where you live. Lol. I spent my Childhood there. I lived on Chester Ave, just a little east of you. There's a Subway on that st. Your house is nice, but way too much stuff.

It all looks great in the end, but $3800? For what, paint and custom made/new furniture? Don't know why they bother with building all that stuff when it's going to be sold anyway. I mean, I wouldn't buy a house for a custom made desk, and while the porch was really beautiful I'd rather want space for my own bench there. Same with built in bookcases, it's great if someone really likes it but it can also scare potential buyers away. I'm sure these investments often pays off, but I think $3800 is a bit of a gamble when decluttering and some paint sometimes is enough. Paint can be expensive but not that much! 🤔
I think there were fixes than they showed plus decor and bedding and some furniture and light fixtures that made it show better. If they get it to sell and get what they ask for it then it's not that much of an investment. Some of it they can take with them too.

And the desk in this one, what did she say it cost? $300? They could've really bought a decent desk for a lot less.. it just seems like unnecessary work to build a custom made desk just for show. So agree.. That built in office desk was horrible and messed up the room... I would have ripped that out! Also the build in benches... Not necessary... I would have wanted something else if I had bought it! Light Paint and a declutter was all that was needed,
It's all about the ambiance and feelings that are invoked when you view a house. If you feel it's spacious, elegant, and beautiful you're more likely to fall for the house. If it's cluttered, and claustrophobic feeling, you'll have a poor impression, and it kind of ruins the dream of buying a 'beautiful' house and makes you think you're getting something second-hand and crappy.
I think if you are a couple with two kids and you see a couple with two kids bursting out of a house, you'll think you also won't have enough room. I just bought a house and it was easy to overlook clutter because I am one person, but I could easily see how if someone with a family sees a family not having enough space for their junk, they would think the house is just too small.
Oh, I'd imagine it sold... given the house prices in Toronto now, they could live in a shack that was on fire, and they would sell it for over a million with buyers outbidding each other

I loved the colors and how the couple decorated with their beautiful rugs and furnishings. It's a shame that they could not have kept some of that style, while decluttering at the same time. The new house looks bland. I also think the open room concept has been over done. One of the reasons that the room looks so cluttered is because it's one large room. A little separation (as in two rooms) would have been better. But, there's a lot of "group think" going on, so everyone is still "inside the box"( pun intended). They should have kept the house.

You see this all the time on you tubes... Are Americans/Canadians so incapable of seeing "past the stuff" and looking at "the bones"... The colour is just cosmetic... All new buyers need is to give the house a lick of paint and it looks bright and open (if they don't put clutter in it). It seems Americans/Canadians prefer to pay "over the top" for the previous owner to spend small change on a fresh coat of paint... Crazy!
Realtors can be cruel but honest, if you are trying to sell. I went through this and the things that were priceless and sentimental to me,she treated with disdain ,but they were antiques,that I had inherited. I ended up selling a lot to sell but I now wish, I had just stored everything. That home was just adorable. I hope they got a buyer and were able to get a newer home. but they could have stayed there and made it comfortable. once the baby got older,they would have had more space. She was sorta cruel. I could sense her insensitive to the parents it was almost she was reprimanding them for having children.. she was actually disrespectful. they were just young parents and the realtor was pure nasty,in a try to be nice way. she practically looked her nose down at the baby. I actually hope they kept their home. and the realtor lost her commission. If she can't be compassionate, she should only show homes of single people or those without children. she needs training on how to understand the people. selling a home is not easy. I hope she never has children obviously she doesn't like them,or if she does she will understand attachment to a family. She seemed more concern about renovation. helpful tips but people still have to live in their homes. She should sell homes that are already furnished. I don't like realtors who talk to the owners as if they don't have feelings.
I think their home is just suffering with too much stuff if there is clean it out they will be able to live in the same home because the size of the dining room is a kind of size in which in India most of the poor family lives with the very huge number of members so instead of reselling it they should clean it think thoughtfully keep less stuff and they will be good to go
A dichotomy: depersonalize by neutral colors on walls (that could EASILY be changed by new homeowners) & plain/simple decor, yet add costly built-in furniture that might "show" well, yet not work for the new homeowners & they might have to "settle" for it (as I did) or much $$$.
The hostess tends to Stick little digs at the owners about “ clutter” the way she words it, it’s a bit insulting it’s the second episode I’ve seen that she tends to be offensive.””Bohemian, “daycare” comments. Kids wall paint. It all could be worded differently if you don’t want to offend the customer and the show
People often condemn colorful walls or furnishings, but the alternative...neutral/beige/blah and nondescript, hotel-like furnishings just strikes as basic and bland. This house has character, .just needs a weekend of purging and decluttering/depersonalizing.

A dichotomy: depersonalize by neutral colors on walls (that could EASILY be changed by new homeowners) & plain/simple decor, yet add costly built-in furniture that might "show" well, yet not work for the new homeowners & they might have to "settle" for it (as I did) or much $$$.

People often condemn colorful walls or furnishings, but the alternative...neutral/beige/blah and nondescript, hotel-like furnishings just strikes as basic and bland. This house has character, .just needs a weekend of purging and decluttering/depersonalizing.
