    In ancient Mexico it was also consumed with honey, vanilla, achiote etc. It was Spanish nuns in Mexico who added milk and sugar. If you ever visit the states of Oaxaca or Chiapas in Mexico (there are ton of different drink recipes, not to mention Mole sauce).

    Nice video, except for the mistake of saying that the Aztecs lived in South America. They actually lived in the center Mexico, which is part of North America. Also, the Aztecs weren't the Mayas' successors. They were two different civilizations.

      Among the three main peoples of pre-Columbian America, the Aztecs were the most powerful and developed. They were Indians who migrated to the Valley of Mexico, to the island of Lake Texcoco. They come from a region of the United States, where they lived as nomads.

    Neither the Aztecs or Mayans discovered chocolate it was actually the olmecs of southeastern Mexico the oldest civilizations of North America who first domesticated it approximately six thousand years ago

      It never said Aztecs and Mayans are the one who discovered it. It says that they are already consuming it at that era of civilization.

      Likely wasn't even the olemcs considering chocolate is older than their civilization. Its just they are the oldest KNOWN civilization to consume it. It's like corn, no one knows who first cultivated it other than the region it was cultivated in.

    Why is it always said that chocolate was discovered in Central and South America, when Mexico is in North America?

      The southern part of mexico is considered part of Central America, with all of Central America being on the North American continent. The line where central america begins is fuzzy
