Can we see when the braid has a knot in itself, when it breaks? That will be your actual baseline. Still a very positive review on knots and failures. Thanks for taking the time to share.
Very nice and very informative video... I would like you to show our fellow anglers how quick a bimini in braid breaks... some people swear by it but when formin a loop in braid, nothing beats a stitch loop. 100% breaking strain
Very insightful, Rudy. I think the amount of wraps will influence the outcome. Maybe round two with 48 wraps may yield different results. Cant wait for more mate !
Hi Rudolph. If possible can you do more test on different knots, and also braid to mono.. i wonder if the 50lb braid maybe just cuts through the other 50lb?
FG is supposed to be a 100% knot but is usually tested as it's used in the field with braid to mono / fluoro. If you try it with a 50 lbs braid with 50 lbs mono I believe it break at or above the rated line strength.
Rudy, looking at where the "knot" broke, I would argue that the braid did not break on the actual knot but exactly below the knot where the braid takes more strain than on the knot itself or on the braid itself. But a very interesting finding.
