sorry but is this a good thing? I mean blowing up without being able to open a jar of pickles ? I know it was a metaphor but again I think just becoming big without being manly in the sense of having strength to do physical stuff that a man needs to do when at work or fighting or whatever is useless and feminine because it targets on looks instead of substance and whatever is mostly about looks is feminine in my book.

The only time wraps/straps/similar equipment (besides a belt) should be used: if they are the limiting factor in your training.
If utilizing a weight that helps your chest go close to failure hurts your wrists, then use wraps for your top set. If your forearms give out before your back during pullups, then use straps.
Just dont use them for things like your warmups, that way you can still try to promote growth for these limiting factors.

I disagree, especially if you have other targeted exercises or things you do for things like grip. I'm a rock climber and build my grip on much more targeted exercises and therefore use straps on things like deadlifts and things. I guarantee with the other work I do my grip is still stronger than people who don't use straps when they deadlift.

Well said! Grip is definitely very functional for real world fitness like manual labor, climbing, wrestling etc. so as a non-bodybuilder I tend to think if my grip gives out or can't keep up with my arms/back/legs then I probably needed the grip training more. However if your goal is pure hypertrophy then straps are kind of a must for any sort of pulling movements, lots of posterior chain and dumbbell leg work, etc. unless you're specifically trying to target forearms, it's all about your individual goals

100%. I try to lift without them until I need them to continue. Sometimes I'll forget I'm not wearing them and when the grip starts failing it's crazy how difficult a lift seems and feels, but it's actually the wrong muscles failing. The next set with straps will be much easier showing you mentally thought you were on edge pushing, but it was the wrong muscles.

Literally bought myself some straps yesterday. Don’t need them for every lift. In fact, I’ll probably use them on the last set of an exercise when I want to go to failure but cumulative fatigue on my forearm limits the movement. If you do 3-4 different pulling exercises, by the time you get to the 3rd or 4th, your forearms will already have gotten enough work anyway.

This is facts. As a wrestler and BJJ competitor grip strength is very important. I went through a period where I never used straps to improve my grip. But when I used straps so that my back training was back training and grip training was grip training I saw massive improvements in both. You just get sup optimal results of you try and combine the two.
