My dad worked a second job at Aladdin's Castle in the early 80's. I remember as a kid he would let me play all the games I wanted during his shifts. Those were the good old days

Ah, the good old days. Back when you could literally hear Pac-Man, Galaxian, Defender, and Wizard of Wor over the crowds. Even if the arcade was on the other end of the mall.

I think that's the first time I've seen the parents play while the children wait! lol

    I was born in the 80s (86), I don’t remember the 80s, but I still really miss the 80s.

I was 13 in 1983...I miss it terribly. Life was just...simple then.

Frequented Alladin's Castle in Santa Rosa, CA., as well as "take 1" circa very early 80's. I still have some tokens in my vast collection of vintage goodies.

Space Invaders pinball right next to Xenon pinball. That's what I remember from back in the day too. Soo cool!

Oh wow, Missile Command and Defender. I plunked a bunch of quarters into those games at my local arcade back in the early 80s.

This looks simular to the one at Riverbend Mall in Rome, GA. The brown colors and brick walls. Everyone thinks the arcades back then were all neon and bright colors, but not the ones I went too. There was a Time Out arcade in Dalton, GA that had rainbow colors, but not neons. My favorite was the Gold Mine in Smyrna, GA. The entrance looked like a cave or mine entrance. it was dark on the inside too. Thanks for sharing. Brings back great memories!

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You had to lay a carpet of missiles as fast as possible to survive!!! Before they incoming missiles split apart into multiple warheads!!!! If you missed that!!! You were TOAST!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

3:43 Aww man, I forgot about those token machines.
Used to love grabbing the tokens out of the bottom.
Putting a $5 bill and getting a ton of tokens, that was a dream come true.

How times have changed! Kids have games on TV to play at home or online. No malls today

Was I the only kid who checked the coin slots for extra quarters or pressed random buttons hoping there was a free play after the person was done playing ?

One arcade I went to, Night Driver was messed up, you could just hit play, no tokens required. I played it several days like that.

The pinball machines are there to play. The video games are there for you to put your foot through the monitor or tv screen.

If I had taken all of the quarters I shoved into those machines and bought shares of an S&P 500 index fund, I would be a billionaire today.
