Just got my Mumford Magnets in yesterday from TreeStuff! I'm going to buy the chalk boxes now! Thanks for this awesome invention! Here in Illinois I climb a lot of maples and this will be life saving!!! Looking forward to your next video!
For retrieving a traverse throw line(solo), this is as easy as it gets . could also incorporate your hand saw or appropriate branch to extend your reach. Could also throw the end of your climb line with a loop, over a branch and run the tape through the hole. Many possibilities.. Dwayne was it? Great idea. Also disappointed you didn't think of it yourself( Richard)
use the new Milwaukee measuring tape its has ribs so it can easily go out 20-25 ft with out bending down.... nice little invention... id like to see a commercial quality version....
everytime i have an idea for making tree work easier i go to youtube and of course richard has already done it!! i think you have done more to revolutionize the tree climbing industry than anyone ive seen yet. you should be getting rich off of your amazing mind and producing all sorts of cool new tree toys!
what if you just tied an adjustable loop around the throw line and the end of the tape that way the line itself would hold the tape end up as youre feeding it out. as long as you never overcame the weight of the throwbag it would keep the tape from kinking down.
you might have seen the euro one in the srt fb group.. I'm going to make a little mid line grappling hook (out of large triple pointed fish hooks) to be attached after the thrwo and sent out to grab the line above the weight. it has to be weighted, so i'll probably just put it on the bottom of a second weaver 8 oz bag. hope this makes sense.
But I can do the same thing with my 12' Pruner. And it's breaks deadwood and prunes. Don't get me wrong you definitely get points for imagination. But I don't understand why nobody uses a pruner anymore? it's a tree climber's right arm. Guess I'm a dinosaur
So the next thing g to do is reverse engineer the chalk box and take container so you can remove the mechanics, reduce size and slide into a small package.

Davey Face Thanks, just doing my part.
Nice job Richard! :-) I was going to get a old fly reel but, now I'm going to get a chalk box for certain!! Thank you!
Well, I do find the Erwin brand pays the line out the best.
what a great and cool tools !
I totally respect this this is awesome and the fat Max is my favorite tape measure because of that u-shaped bevel
Great idea Richard!
Thanks Richard! This is awesome.
Awesome idea man, could have used this today

In that case a grapnel type device works, girth hitched to an alpine butterfly and a long eye.
Haha that was awesome!
very clever

We at Stapleton tree service still use a pole saw every day
you should work on producing a custom tape thats much thicker and will stand straight out further just for tree workers

***** Yes, if only we were a big enough market.
don't use this near power lines
Oh one question! I have some old zing it I'm planning to use with it! Will it be too thick for the chalk box?
Yes it works.
Briljant.
