As one who grew up on the northern plains of the United States, I was always a fan of Lego and farm equipment. I remember a few of these models from the Lego catalog.
For some reason that 60s tractor is giving me this very slight sensation of nostalgia. I think it is because agriculture around these parts began to die out in the 60s, and as such most local photos of tractors contain models like that.
Thanks for the list! Most of those are going to be in the follow-up (the focus is specifically on farm equipment). I'm working on a different video at the moment, but that one will be coming later.
I remember that 8260 Tractor set, got it for christmas like 10 years ago. A shame that one of the bucket's connectors got brittle enough to snap while attaching one day.
2:28 - I had this one as a kid - Massey Ferguson 135 or 165 maybe. I have a real 165 now I’ve just finished restoring - always wanted one after having this lego so long ago. 😊👍
9:30 "Based on a 1951 Ferguson tractor" This is actually true, because the tractor in question is a 1951 Ferguson TE20, a UK farming vehicle that was basically the grandfather of MF Tractors (Massey Ferguson Inc.)
And the "Danish ring roller" is probably a refrence to the danish company Dalbo. Dalbos HQ is located 5km away from LEGOLAND and they have produced ringrollers since the 1950s and they are amoung the 3 biggest producers of ringrollers today
Definitely! I mean.... only 35 sets (approximately) over 57 years... that's kinda sad. Hopefully we'll get more in the future now that Lego is releasing ~800 sets each year.
Reeeaaally wish I had gotten that Combine Harvester Transporter set from a few years back before it was discontinued. Because I have they newer red tractor and their now releasing so many farm, Animal, and nature themed sets. Also, wouldn't it be cool if they someday released another limited edition Cargo Train set like the Red on from 2012 and it included a little old fashioned orange tractor with catapiller treads and a semi oval shaped front end as a little nod and reference another piece of childhood nostalgia? Man, that would be perfect.
First Combine Harvester was in 1989 with set 8862. It was second to the Backhoe. Also the 1986 "Tractor" (set 8849) should have stated it featured a rotating PTO shaft driven from the rear wheel.
The backhoe was a cool design. Had the pneumatic pump and actuators. The combine was pretty cool, just wished it would have been more finished-not just a skeleton.
Might want to add the 8069, 8455 and 8862 A and B models.. which are all basically tractor loaders. Also the 8862 B is the first LEGO combine harvester if i'm not mistaken.
Good call, 8069 is a log loader I think. 8455 and 8862 are backhoes, plus the 8862 B-model is a harvester. In this video I tried to stay away from loaders and backhoes though, and just focus on farm tractors. Otherwise it would be too many sets lol. These take a really long time to model and animate
Glad you enjoyed it! I realized after I made this video that I did miss some of the tractor models. The list of sets I based this on came from a search on Brickset.com. Since then I've found some other ways to get better search results so hopefully my videos will be a bit more thorough in the future!

Hello! I’m new here and I just subbed! I don’t wanna sound weird and I’m not complaining, but 5:27 those are straw bales from a combine ;D Also, I can help you next time maybe with the different machines, I love farm machines and Lego!
Thanks for the sub! And yeah you're probably right about the bales. Makes sense that they would be straw from the straw chopper. I'll be doing a follow-up video with the tractor sets I missed in this one, and I'd love to have some input from anyone who knows more about farm equipment! Most of my knowledge comes from playing Farming Simulator lol
Cool video, but sometimes you have the wrong colours for the rubber tyres where you use the wrong material for the render. You can see this most clearly at 3:47 in with the 1991 Railroad Tractor Flatbed where the front and rear tyres use two different materials, with the front tyres being too shiny.
No, you didn't miss it... I did. There will eventually be a follow-up video with the other tractor sets since there are a bunch that didn't make it into this video.

I don’t get it, you show the Ferguson tractor sometime at 2010s-2020s, are you show us what time lego make a tractor in the year, or what year when the tractor built?
Great question. The Lego set 4000025 was released in 2018 as part of the Inside Tour. It depicts a tractor that was built sometime around 1951. In this video I'm showing the sets in the order that they were released, so it shows up later in the video even though it's an older tractor model.

8862: Backhoe Grader (Alternative build)

What about 8457 Power Poller?
@@maglekaer1 You could certainly call it a "tractor", but a vehicle like that probably wouldn't be used on a farm.
I remember that 8260 Tractor set, got it for christmas like 10 years ago. A shame that one of the bucket's connectors got brittle enough to snap while attaching one day.
2:24 most people probebly got this already but but just too clear up the tractor is Massy-Fergusson 135.
Oh I just posted a comment saying that but yep you beat me to it by a month
lets be honest with ourselves 2009 farm was peak performance
Well yea, because the main Lego city theme was farm

Lego in 2009 be like: HOWDY FOLKS WANNA SEE MAH NEW TRACTOR

the video is beautiful, too bad there are no lego set numbers, at least in the cases you could find them
5:04 this was my first lego set
The farm brick box was my first set I got it when I was 5
Me too!
More videos like this please, lego history is interesting

Hey, you forgot the Claas Xerion and a mini technic one, a 8260
5:47 this includes also a farm with the tractors
Thanks for video!

Which ones?
Actually they are all CGI!

Wind rowers are for drying hay

So Lego's farm equipment sets really were first steps for the brand? First use of clear pieces, first use of a minifigure, etc...
Well damn the railroad tractor flatbed is looking good even in 1991
