  • 🦥 This video captures our experience for the day with tour operator Natures Way in Costa Rica. They picked us up at our lodging directly and drove the group 1.5 hr inland from the pacific coast to visit several locations. First stop was a very short easy hike through rain forest to the catarata (waterfalls) Llanos de Cortés, on our way back up we spotted several Howler monkeys eating above in the trees.
Second stop was to a National park Volcán Tenorio, here we hiked a little longer through very humid lush gorgeous rainforest, in awe of flora and fauna until we descended around 200 steps down into the volcano that is now grown in and a waterfall that pools into a gorgeous blue colour.
Finally we stop at a sloth sanctuary where guides explain the habitat and details of the animal life native here. We were delighted to spot a sloth on our way back who had come down from their tree, which we learned happens only when they need to poop and that’s only a once a week event! Once on the ground they use their tail to dig a hole and shake their body to defecate and bury the feces before climbing back up to sleep exhausted by the experience. Amazing we lucked out on the timing, we could have spent hours amongst the wildlife learning about it more, enjoying the sights and smells of the sweet clean air, simply magical.
