Chill day as an art school student ✿ studio vlog

Today was a nice busy but relaxing day! I only had 2 classes so I was able to get a lot done in my studio between school. As an MFA student, we only have to take 3 classes during the fall and 4 during the spring. Doesn't seem like a lot ot be a fulltime student however, the workload will catch up to you. Especially if you're trying to work on your own studio practice while in school. I'm am overall loving/ enjoying my experience so far and I think it's crazy that I'm already halfway through my program!

I totally understand you not wanting to work on the piece for a while. I had a college professor in art that criticized the way I did things so bad I didn’t create for many years. I understand they want to push you out of your comfort zone but they turned around and gave praise to others for less. I commend you for jumping back into it.

hi! love ur videos, and just found ur channel! i was just wondering why u do the neon underneath, is it just a fun personal preference or do u feel like it helps with when ur going in painting in the other colors?

thank you so much for watching! I usually paint the first layer of my painting with neon acrylic paint. This will help with brightening up the oil paint layers I add on top and give them a more vibrant color. The neon color also peaks through in some unpainted parts of the painting which adds a nice touch to the overall piece! Hope this helps! :)
