Terrific! Keep it up. I started just before Covid and am 67. I 've been working on Concerto in B minor for several months now with a new master teacher that I found in June. The key is consistent focused practice. Its the hardest instrument by far Sometimes if I don't' feel like practicing I say to myself, just do five minutes don't let a day go by with no practice. 5 minutes usually turns into 15 or 30 which is way better than nothing. I also took up Ukulele in October . Council on aging ran some lessons at a community club which got me started. The rest I'm picking up on U-tube. Ukulele is so easy and a lot of fun. interesting to see progress on other instruments - excellent work! The initial stages of learning the violin must be very hard since you don't just have the notes ready to play played, but rather have to learn them. Good luck!
Yeah, not gonna lie. It's by far the hardest instrument I've played so far. Later this year I'll start playing a 5-string electric violin when it arrives, so I'll probably make videos about that as well in case you are interested :).
That's good young man. I started playing at 68 as a relief during Covid. I'm still working on it. Always looking for great classes online - not too expensive. Thank you and keep it up.
This really inspires me to learn to play violin, my parents gifted me one so I can do something when I'm bored I really had a bad times to learn it all by myself, I remember the first thing i want to learn is vibrato and I almost hit it on the wall because I'm struggling
I had the fortune of learning in a good school program for about 10 yrs. I highly recommend trying to work with a tutor. Even if you worked with one only once a month, they can answer questions and give you reasonable goals that will inspire you to progress. Good luck! Edit: and you can learn vibrato first thing, but it will come at the cost of fundamentals. I recommend the second or third finger, if that's truly your biggest goal.
Nice band shirts, dude. You've got good taste in music. I will be starting my violin journey next week. I'll be absorbing your exhuded energy to fuel my first steps forward.

Makes a change watching someone who is actually telling the truth about how long they have been playing, lots of videos on you tube of people who have been playing many years trying to get subscribers by saying they have been playing a few months, just told one he is a prodigy , he has obviously been playing for around ten years but claims nine months it’s almost laughable.
I think think it's possible that they've been playing for short time. The time of practice makes it possible, I've met some people that get a good sound and intonation in a matter of 2 or 3 months, they don't have to be prodigies to get it
I like to see in these videos that people post how practice itself lends to a uniformity of results (not considering time) regardless of how you actually approach the learning process. This is consistent with the approaches to learning that focus on the learner and not on the teacher (and therefore on his learning method). - gradually getting confortable with the whole bow length - wrist getting ever more flexible - tone improving etc I have been learning to play for about 4 years now (2022, by now you may have already 3 years) and it seems that you progressed "faster" than me on the 1st year but of course that's a pretty useless comparison since we certainly followed different approaches. In the first few months it was about 15-30 min per day, now its 45-60 min (keep in mind, I also play piano so have to divide my time). As for the arm vibrato, my teacher was happy with my progress, so she gave me some exercises to practice. Also if you think that's crazy, there's a guy called TJ Hooper who started using vibrato 2 weeks in, SELF TAUGHT. You should check out his progress vid if interested :)
Your intonation is a lot better than mine after a year. I can hear myself being out of tune when I record it and play it back but it seems fine when I play it, very frustrating!
I found this method quite convincing for good intonation: ruclips.net/video/0WZVII2OCmU/видео.html (i think it's like jazz players say: "Can't sing, can't play", or put positively: "if you can sing it right, you can play it right!")
Nice. Please do a video on how you "mastered" (yeah man, you are good) that arm vibrato. On a lark, I started learning the violin Feb 1, 2021 (March 2 now). Still on the cheap $50 violin, I am looking for another violin. I play the piano ( Chopin Fantasy Impromptu "level"), and I sing with the choir. My goal when I started is to complement my singing, and I would like to be able to play Silent Night like Andre Rieu. I have been "teaching myself" the violin head first, with Silent Night (yeah I butchered that beautiful song) from the onset, and I want to be able to do the vibrato now. I know the the violin will be a lot more significant for me that I first considered it to be. She may end up ruling it all.

Yknow, that’s really good, doin better then some people I know who’ve been playing for 4-6 years. Although, it is a bit weird, because you seem a bit stiff compared to your tone and skills, not a point against you though.
How many hours do u practice a day?
Back then around 15-30 min in the first 6 months, then a little bit more (30-60 min ish?) later on
I’m 2years in and I’m 36now... Slow learner.
What song is on 4:22 , thanx
It's a random piece from my book by G.F Haendel. I don't know the name, but I can send the sheet music if you share your email

@@Afrinaturality thank you so much for this reply. I felt and thought the music to be divine, not knowing it had a christian religious motive.
Bro who is your teacher, what is the lesson plan
Cant tell you due to privacy reasons, but have been taking weekly 1 hr (violin+piano) lessons for almost 3 years now, very rarely skipping a lesson.
Hello. You know feed back would be helpful ok. Thankyou.
wait your first month was just open strings? bro that must've been so boring
Boring perhaps but foundation is sooo important. In the end, it makes playing in the future easier and more enjoyable... as opposed to setting yourself up to have technical issues that are a pain to fix.
i have the impression that you progress really slowly sorry
Bravo!
Great job!
How many times do you practice in a week?
I practiced (almost) every day for 15-30 min at first, then a bit more later on
Great job!
