Is it me or do some men think you should automatically trust them immediately? How come women cant explain there past issues without it being an issue. There are reasons why women have guards up and at least she was open to sharing that point of it.

I have no clue of his motive. It could also be that he knows that his family background is different, being Nigerian, so he wants to be honest with the woman upfront. The kinds of things you have to deal with dating or marrying a Nigerian/African you generally wouldn't have to if you married into an African-American family.
