- That's right, today we try to stop the collapse of the USSR by taking control of it in Crisis in the Kremlin, a game that is part political simulator, part strategy game with the worst UI I've ever seen. Crisis in the Kremlin is kind of a meme game in Russia. This is the first time I see a streamer from a different country playing it
@mrhappydrip2361 Well, it's a very old game. It was made for MS DOS and this is some sort of HD remake. I believe it was unique for its time. It was before any Paradox and Total War games. And it's ridiculosouly hard. Legend says even developers coudn't complete.

Easiest path is to switch to mixed economy/titoism for a bit (basically doing a temporary NEP) with moderates and ligachev, invest on OGAS and then by the time OGAS will be ready switch to planned economy (basically end the NEP), it's a path I've done several times that always works quite well

I read Gromyko's autobiography, he lead an insane life and had a legendary reputation. By the 1980's he had been in high-level politics for over 40 years.
Oh, swell, a major youtuber doing a Kremlingames game! Crisis in the Kremlin is their oldest title, and probably the most obtuse but also the most open-ended. The UI has gradually got better with each new title, but is still kind of jank, and you can tell that English is very definitely not their first language. Still, these games have their charm to them. I never could figure this one out - I think you actually got much further than I did, despite allegedly having no idea what you were doing. :P

This game is so good, glad to see people playing it. Though I'm definitely an Ostalgie guy myself.
Finally a Paradox streamer played this game. In my first try I got overthrown at the beginning of my second year in this game.
Edit: went back after watching and tried 3 more times, 3rd time was the charm and I won getting to 1996 as Stalinist.

Also I don't know that much about communism, but I think Stalinists were in favor of communism in one state, meanwhile Trotzkyists were in favor of world revolution so kinda the exact opposite.
Wonder if a US side game exists in that capacity aswell. Would be fun to play both sides.

I remember my first crisis in the kremlin game, was a total disaster and I loved every second of it. Had to look up how to play it on RUclips and it lead to me an un ironic Stalinist. Good times 10/10 would communism again

Oh man, Kremlingames is a rabbithole. Honestly, i prefer Ostalgie over other their games as in my mind the most user friendly and diverse (as you can play as most warsaw pact countries). And considering it got the most work and dlcs im not alone in that opinion.
Some recommend Mao's legacy but i just dont understand China's internal policies and dont know their politics to comfortably play.

I really want to enjoy this game but my God does it need a clear English guide or manual, there is so little clear information out there on how to play it. The mechanics are really obtuse and hidden from the player so trying to figure them out from gameplay alone is a struggle.

Day 82 of asking you to do a mega campaign from ck3 to hoi4
Many of Crisis in the Kremlin's game mechanics are obtuse and badly explained and need to be learned through trial and error. For example the amount of corruption generated by many investments, for example in industry, increases exponentially. Minimal corruption with 100 investments in light industry, minor with 160, unbearable with 200 for instance. Additionally increasing the investment by too much in one turn (except for turn 1 of the game) increases corruption massively. Corruption also increases corruption, so at high levels you death spiral and your economy will collapse irreversibly.
There's a fun "exploit" you can do in this game with the Neocolonialism foreign policy, where you can generate massive sums of money in 1 turn by exploiting third world countries in your influence. This can then be invested into your own economy or as civil aid in other third world countries to prevent them from flipping to US influence. This is the most popular strategy for quickly defeating the US, as the US requires aligned countries in the third world to prevent it's indicators (economy, army, and population satisfaction) from dropping to zero. The only limiting factor is political power points.
