- What’s so special about oil? Why does the Bible specify that oil-not water or wine-must be used to anoint a person or place? In this episode, Tim and Jon continue discussing the biblical theme of anointing, exploring why God designates oil to symbolically represent the life-giving power of his Spirit.

After the Great Cosmic battle in the Chaos, Christ called in the Lightstream . Michael and Gabriel brought it down from beyond the constellations. He put incorruptable powers in the inner planets and restored order in the circuit of our solar system. Power was taken from the Babylonian Gods and Enoch was anointed with the Oil and given the Cedar Rod of Kingship for a time. Anu ,Enki and Enlil accepted this, Mardk was unhappy but could do nothing. This is from 2 Babyonian sources as well as Enoch1 and The Pistis Sophia. It is in the Shamash tablet and the Enmiduranki Scroll. Enmiduranki is Enoch. Utu/Shamash and Adad were not Babylonian Gods they represented the ALL. Utu Shamash is Michael and Adad is Gabriel. They maintain the lightstream feeding subtle energies to the planet to incubate the souls of Man. I love the work you guys are doing. Our cosmogony is complicated, filled with stories of two opposed races of beings, filtered from multiple viewpoints, with 3 separate timelines and multiple dimensions. Complicated more by the deception in astrophysics. Our material cosmos is an electric circuit and that changes everything. Accretion theory was disproven, Academia is a deception. All of the mythos and petroglyphs are real, told by our ancestors from their perspective as crazy as it all sounds. It explains a lot in the Pistis Sophia. It says what it is and is what it says. It helps with Biblical interpretation. It is rich in scripture Contains the Key of David and much more. It is the post resurrection discourse of the Saviour sent to this generation. As a chemical engineer, I nerded out a little when you started talking about the makeup of the oils. It's truly amazing when you learn how many of the same basic chemical compounds are in plants and animals, yet God has ordained remarkable unique traits and abilities as well. The smallest difference makes a tremendous impact. It is truly amazing what He has done in creation!

I don’t know if this adds any insight, but to the question about if you grind up any part of the plant will you get oil, the answer is not so much. Oil is often concentrated in the seeds of plants because when you put them in the ground to germinate, that is their energy source during that process. They cannot do photosynthesis when they have no leaves and are hidden from the sun. So they have this stored energy to get them started with making their first roots and leaves. I think this might be an interesting picture of the role of oil in death and resurrection. 🤷🏽♀️
In our little church, as the pastor, we were gifted anointing oil from a sister church in the UK. As it was coming to an end, I used this recipe to replicate the oil from the Torah, and then mixed in the remainder of that original oil. I had been around other anointing oil before, but never was it as wonderfully pungent and aromatic as this recipe. Every time we anointed, usually for prayer over the sick, that smell would command the room. Lovely memories!

To answer your question about where Cinnamon oil comes from, the oil is distilled from the bark. But essential oils can be distilled from any part of the plant for different constituents. I've been to farms to be a part of the process before and then see it tested in labs. It's amazing how many mysteries God has for us to discover and be stewards for!

As I read Genesis 1 and 2 and observe that the sequence of creation of man and living creatures differ in both chapters. In Chapter 1 the animals were generated before the male and female humans were created...while in Chapter 2 the male was created first, then the animals to be his companion and later because no one is suitable among the animals to be a companion to Adam, the female was created...

At Christmas we have many elements that sound like that holy oil. A Christmas tree with sap. Buns with cinnamon and sugar. Lots of food cooked in oils. Where I live we eat a lot of root vegetables (carrot, potato, swede/turnip) mashed.
Like the Holy Oils used for the Sacrament blessed on Holy Thursday - Oil of Catechumen - used before Baptism, Chrism Oil - used during Confirmation, Ordination of priest, Consecration of bishop, for consecration of altars and statues, and Oil of the the Infirm or sick
may we remember our status as anointed ones and act accordingly to the glory of our Lord!

I definitely believe that the recipe for the oil was manifold. The fragrant, rich, and carefully curated oil was the combined expression of our original stewardship over creation and our willingness to use Gods gifts to honor Him. As for the practice of healing by annointing, i think theres a mix of both obedience through the recipe by following directions and faith by the oil's use. Both of which are pillar aspect of our faith; Faith itself and Obedience, the 2 main ways how Jesus performs miracles. That do you guys think?

At 48:23 with the mention of Adam not dying in the day he ate the fruit, I think he did If you interpret a day as a thousand years (2 Peter 3:8). All the "First humans" died within a "day" with the exception of Enoch:
- Adam lived a total of 930 years, and then he died.
- Seth lived a total of 912 years, and then he died.
- Kenan lived a total of 910 years, and then he died.
- Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years, and then he died.
- Jared lived a total of 962 years, and then he died.
- Enoch lived a total of 365 years. Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.
- Methuselah lived a total of 969 years, and then he died.
- Lamech lived a total of 777 years, and then he died.
Hey greetings, I used to think this way but Adams dead is a spiritual one, separation from God, so the day they ate the fruit they died, physical dead was a manifestation of the spiritual dead.

Along with the question of why Oil we should ask also Why on the Head and Why enough to run down over the entire body? Could it be it has nothing to do with a physical substance poured on the Body by someone outwardly; But instead a process that takes place inside the place of the Skull = your Skull; Calvary. The Old Covenant Torah is only a shadow or metaphor of the reality that becomes substance when experienced in the inward man. The Hebrew word for Oil is She-Men which is a symbol for being Anointed with Christ Consciousness that takes place in the Human Brain. Could it be the Human Brain is in Reality the True Garden of Eden where a person can meet with His Creator in the Secret Place of the Most High called the Upper room of Prayer. In the New Covenant every Saint = Holy One who is Anointed with Christ Consciousness is Gods Temple, Priest, Prophet and Sacrifice all in One because of a Holy Spirit Baptism by God your Creator personally. In reality the Holy Spirit is Living Water and the true Wine of Heaven and the Holy Sacred Oil from which all Spiritual Blessing Flow and resides in the Human Brain. Have you ever wondered why God Breathed Life = Spirit into the Nostrils of Adam and not through the Mouth as stated in Genesis. You simply must put cilantro in your guacamole. That's what gives it the authentic flavor of Mexico. Red onion, garlic, salt, lime, and cilantro. Mmmmm....so good!

The fragrant cane is more than likely Calamus (Acorus calamus) AKA "sweet flag" or "sweet cane" but it could also be lemongrass or 'ginger grass'. This is from an old/1897 Bible dictionary from Thomas Nelson. Many use lemongrass due to its availability and use in other recipes.

I’m glad you referenced Job 2 and dreams and visions at the end of your discussion. Oil may be compassion. If the dry earth is objective realism (the belief that the world can exist without a mind to see it), and the mist of the earth is the conscious attention that Adam, We, have given meaning to what we see, we have a dream occurring upon the Unseen Mind of the Dreamer Itself, the ‘Ground (not earth) of all being’, then compassionate essential oil of dreaming that the human is both playing the part of being seen in the dream as object yet Seen in the Awakening Edenic Mind the Life GIving Spirit, is a Garden collective full of the Vision of a SHared Presence of Love inside each and every ‘tree’ which is both rooted in attachment to objective reality of the five senses, and also has received their Life ‘WIthin’ the Rivers of Consciousness. If we follow the SHared SPirit, through compassion for the enslavement of the SPirit to a world of form back to the Golden Being of Radiating Delightfulness WIthin which is the Source of Life, then what is truely making Us ‘human’ is OUr ability to see Our Life as ‘Made of Heaven’ with no objective nor conceptual structures needed to maintain it. Mary, Martha, myrrh, and Samaria each contain the bitter memory of having dreamt a dream of not Knowing God. TO see the Loving Heart of each ‘other’ is to have pressed out through facing a dream absent of God the compassion that We, Us, must Awaken together. The first river out of Heaven helps Us to diffuse the essence of OUr SHared Being so that we see each other (The Spirit given Human Tree Life) as Holy. The second River is the removal of guilt of dreaming and thinking we could have left God, and the third is the Spontaneous Atonement. THe Forth is Being as God intended Us to Be, after which God allows the MInd of God in Man to Be, without need for environmental, social, or theological structures. Well, that’s what it means to me. If oil does mean compassion it is a powerful vision is our shared dream leading to Freedom.

Great timing! I wrote a program in 2019 about Oils of ancient scripture and just gave a mini program for our scripture group on Friday. I brought my Young Living oils we shared frankincense, myrrh, cedarwood and rose of sharon. But I have so many more oils and info to share! [23] "Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty, and of fragrant cane two hundred and fifty, [24] and of cassia five hundred, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin. [25] You shall make of aa these a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture, the work of a perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil. …

Question: where did the Israelites get the ingredients for the anointing oil, seeing as they were wandering around in a desert? (as in not much plant life around)
Comment: in Chinese the word for "oil" is 油 (yóu) ... it combines 氵(water/liquid - three drops of water, actually) and 由 (yóu) (reason/cause) which (according to my research) could represent a fruit or (maybe) a basket (so, I nearly did a happy-dance all over the room when Jon mentioned the anointing oil having liquid with compressed fruit ... or was that Tim?) ... also 由 (reason/cause) closely resembles 田 (tián) which means "field" but also has a sense of "arable land" and "cultivated" or "a field with irrigation channels" ... also final point (I mean these rabbit holes could be explored endlessly) ... 田 (field) features in the Chinese word for "Eden" ... 伊甸 (yī diàn) ... 甸 means "suburbs" but its ancient meaning is "official in charge of fields" or "land owned by the emperor" (btw one way of saying "Lord" in Chinese is "Emperor on High") ... 甸 literally means 勹 (encompassed) 田 (fields) ... (note: in Chinese the same noun could be single or plural ... depends on the context) ... hope this explanation didn't confuse anyone ... okay, I'll just geek out on my own now and stop filling up the comments sections with Chinese :)

I'm realizing that eastern schools of thought understand that the basic foundation of life is established on water and breath. 🤔 The word "Feng Shui" literally means "wind water" and the word "Chi" that's common in the martial arts is a Chinese term "气" ("ki" in Japanese "気") actually means "spirit" or "breath". Eastern practices understand much about the ingredients that sustain life on this earth; they just don't know the Gospel and try to return to man's original place under God without Christ.
as an asian person who practices martial arts, i find it really frustrating how christians, as well meaning, feel the need to put down entire cultures under the guise of "they just don't know the gospel".
you don't know enough about eastern arts/wisdom/healing to make these assumptions when these things require respect and study to understand what is being said. i know you don't know it, but these patterns of thoughts stem from racism and the "othering" of Asian cultures because culturally, Americans did not respect us enough to think different races or unique and lumped us all together.
you can appreciate and see wisdom without having to impose what you think is right or wrong on other people. only god can do that and you aren't god.

This is a perfect example how someone can be so right, but wrong about a critical thing. A spiritual thing that blocks a person from seeing the image of God.
Soooo ceylon cinnamon is the really good, expensive cinnamon. Cassia, is also cinnamon, but it's cheap and plentiful. In most recipes they are interchangeable. The ceylon, however, has a subtle flavor compared to cassia. And, ceylon has more phytochemicals (plant nutrients) than the cassia.
Maybe the "cane" could be molasses...which is made from sugar cane. And it has a very distinctive aroma.

It is precisely because apart from olive oil the rest were not cultivated that made them valuable and costly. Those would have been traded from Sri Lanka & Indiathrough the ancient trade routes which existed - by sea, remember the fame of Tyre and Sidon and by camels across all those deserts

@bibleproject so i am a biologist as well as a Christ follower. I was meditating on this and plant oils are stortof like the blood of the plant. The essence of the plant is in the oil. The essence of an animal's life is in the blood.
When humans clothed themselves they innately chose to use plants for covering but God knew that was insufficient. God could have made linen garments or cotton ones, instead He chose sheep. So, could it be that when God said 'you will surely die' He could mean that the knowledge of good and evil would fundamentally change us and our bodies so that what Adam was could no longer exist? Human brains require phenominal caloric intake to work, something that is extremely hard to gain from fruit and seeds and greens that Adam and Eve were to eat before.
Again, God knows this and instead of plants to clothe them he used sheep, something we commonly eat and has a high protein and caloric value. From then on we see humans eating meat (with some exceptions such as Daniel and his peers), possibly because the knowledge of good and evil altered the brain structure of a human(enlarged frontal lobes) and thus changed our caloric requirements? Essentially we are having to trade the animal's life for our own because the way our bodies changed when we gained that knowledge from the tree requires us to have massive calorie density and the fastest and easiest way to achieve that is through meat. I know this is not explicitly said in the bible, but God tells Peter to get up, kill, and eat. We still have the fallen bodies so until we get redeemed bodies, we still have to trade physical animal life for physical human life?

Isn't it interesting that Jesus was known at the anointed one, but the only time (that I can recall) that he was anointed was by a harlot and she anointed his feet? Can you give do something on that?
The Hebrew word "Kaneh Bosem", translated "fragrant cane", is most likely cannabis. (Handbook of Cannabis, pg. 23, edited by Roger G. Pertwee, published by Oxford University, 2014). I found this book through the Moody Bible Institute's library catalog. I graduated Moody's pastoral program in 2004.

@BOWSER He sites two. Many can be found with a simple Google search. The theory is that the Hebrews purposely kept the main ingredient secret since it was strictly only for the priesthood service as prescribed. Not everyone agrees that it is cannabis, but it seems like we all have to admit it could be, at the least. I think the evidence supports my statement that it likely is.

Can you please comment on the warning in Exodus 30 which forbids the Israelites from duplicating the recipe of the anointing oil?
In the Law God gave to Moses, he prescribed a formula for the anointing oil. It was a special composition of the choicest ingredients: myrrh, sweet cinnamon, sweet calamus, cassia, and olive oil. It was a capital offense for anyone to compound this mixture and use it for any common or unauthorized purpose. (Exodus 30:31-33) This figuratively demonstrated the importance and sacredness of an appointment to office that had been confirmed by anointing with sacred oil.

I would love to send you two a theory I have on what appears to be two creation accounts, but I’ll try here. There is only one creation account.
Creation Day Six in Chronological Order
(Gen 1:24-26; 2:4-3:24; 1:27-2:1): We cannot foil God’s plans, everything happens as he plans them too. We have the choice to choose between the blessing and the curse. Think of the empty land where Adam is made from, as the land of Eden, saved for the purpose of training Adam and his offspring up to the days of Noah. Eden was the only place that was flooded, the Garden of Eden & the rest of the globe was not flooded as Eden was. We have no access to Eden, save through Christ Jesus, it is in a different realm running on a different timescale, i.e. its clocks ran slower than those outside of Eden. I can say this because we know for a fact that time is relative. The land of Nod is where Cain was banished and at that time it was impossible to grow anything, perhaps because it was frozen or mostly a wilderness, or both. The clocks there ran faster than those in Eden, and tens of thousands of years passed for Cain and his offspring such that they experienced genetic drift from that of Seth and his offspring in the land of Eden. By the time of the flood in Eden occurred about 1600 Eden-years passed, to tens of thousands of years in the land of Nod, and the offspring of Cain was almost a different species. We call them Neanderthals, and Denisovans for example. As Noah’s offspring multiplied and began to spread throughout the Earth they encountered Cain’s people, which they knew, by some mark, to be the offspring of Cain. Because they could not kill them, they allowed Cain’s men to mix with their daughters and thus they where eventually absorbed into the gene pool of Noah. You might be wondering where I am getting all this information? It is written in the Bible and in the book of nature. Next I will post a patched up translation of the verses shown above in such a way to make this all clear.

And it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to their kinds and the cattle according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the ground according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, “Let us make Adam in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”

These are the generations of the skies, the waters, and the land of Eden when they were bestowed. In the day that the LORD God prepared the land of Eden along with its bodies of water and its atmosphere, when no plant of the field was yet in the land of Eden and no herb of the field had yet sprung up - for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the land of Eden, and Adam had not yet been brought into being to till the ground; but a mist went up from the land and watered the whole face of the land of Eden - then the LORD God formed Adam of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Adam became a living being.
And the LORD God planted a garden in Eden, in the east; and there he put Adam whom he had formed.
And out of the ground the LORD God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food, the tree of life also in the middle of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. The name of the first is Pishon; it is the one which flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; and the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. The name of the second river is Gihon; it is the one which flows around the whole land of Cush. And the name of the third river is Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
The LORD God accepted Adam and allowed him to dwell in the garden of Eden to dress it and protect it.
And the LORD God commanded Adam, saying, “You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.”
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that Adam should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
So out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them; and whatever Adam called every living creature, that was its name. Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a helper fit for him.
So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and while he slept took substance (blood, flesh, water, and bone) and closed up its place with flesh; and the substance which the LORD God had taken from Adam he made into a woman and brought her to Adam.
Then Adam said, “This at last is substance of my substance and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore a man leaves his father and his mother and cleaves to his wife, and they become one flesh.”
And Adam and his wife were both naked, and were not ashamed.

Now the serpent was more subtle than any other wild creature that the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?”

And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
But the LORD God called to Adam, and said to him, “Where are you?”
And he said, “I heard the sound of thee in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”
Adam said, “The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me fruit of the tree, and I ate.”
Then the LORD God said to the woman, “What is this that you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I ate.”

The LORD God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all cattle, and above all wild animals; upon your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. To the woman he said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children, yet your desire shall be for your husband, and he shall rule over you.”

Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
And the LORD God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins, and clothed them.
Then the LORD God said, “Behold, Adam has become like one of us, knowing good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand and take again of the tree of life, and eat, and live for time indefinite” -
therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from which he was taken.
He drove out Adam; and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
So God created Adam in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.”
