- Born in July of last year in Cameroon, the Siamese twins Elizabeth and Mary were joined at the hip. They had shared numerous aspects of the body system along with physical body parts. Ranging from the spinal cord and a part of the spine to the urinary tract, digestive tract, urogenital systems and neurovascular structure… Following a tremendously comprehensive search, the conjoined twins were brought to Acıbadem Altunizade Hospital from Cameroon when they were 9 months old. Physicians of numerous departments, an army of healthcare professionals, numerous diagnoses made in 7 months and finally the surgery and postoperative treatment; now, these cute twins are living as two physically independent babies. The separation surgery that lasted for 27 hours was successful. Now, they are 16 months old and they are happy to have their own bodies before they are discharged.

This is the first set of conjoined twins I have seen in 60 years be separated without aANY physical or mental deficits! WHAT GREAT PARENTS & HOSPITAL TEAM!!!

I'm literally in tears, so thankful for the entire medical team in Turkey for their competence, humanity, kindness, love and willingness to FREELY GIVE their medical skills, time and assistance to a complete pair to strangers! I'm not even from Cameroon but we share a human race. God bless everyone that was involved, including the beautiful twins and their parents.

I remember BEN Carson when he was a young brain surgeon was the FIRST DR.,/ SURGEON to come up with the IDEA+ CONCEPT of many multiple doctors performing a surgery together at One time. Iniately, cynics talked negatively about that idea/ concept! Afterwards, they got it! T hat was his gift. Brain surgery mastery; ironically. Thank you.

Reading about the separation surgery of the beautiful twins, I felt like I was there😊😊. Cold chills and a smile enveloped my body as I read and saw what Gods precious babies went through. I thank our Good Lord for the fantastic medical staff in Turkey and the loving parents. I would love to hear or see Elizabeth and Mary progress now🙏🙏😊😊.
