    The problem is, it's the wrong kind of complicated: No one can tell me that it's fun to sort out 60 corpses for a single item craft that has a reasonable chance to being bad anyways. Its so much hassel for a randomized result its descouraing honestly.

    Not being able to choose the base is a big blunder. Just allowing us to pick the base or input one of our own would massively improve the mechanic. As it stands, needing to input corpses just to manipulate the base that drops adds needless complexity to the graveyard and makes it worse than every other crafting mechanic available

    • @Sniperfuchs
      @Sniperfuchs 7 месяцев назад +21

      The base being random is definitely an issue but to me it's still at the bottom of the list.
      The user experience is horrible. You have what, 50-ish graves that you gotta fill manually 1 by 1? With a list that you have to constantly scroll around or search because the mods are not really grouped together except for level. And the search doesn't even persist if you go to the next grave, so you have to type "fire" or whatever constantly.
      And because there are so many graves, every single grave has a very small contribution to the final item. And since very few things actually guarantee anything, only increase the chances, it feels frustrating that your desired outcome is still so incredibly unlikely even if you spend all that time filling every single grave.
      Imo the whole thing should have been a dozen or so graves with each being meaningful (that way slamming 3 or 4 corpses for an ok-ish leveling/early mapping item would be much more feasible).
      Also don't drown me in corpses that have modifiers so low that I don't even want to pick them up cause 64 spots really isn't that much in the current system.
      And ideally, you should be able to do it like TOTA when selecting your team, where you get a completely new screen that shows you all graves at once rather than this cumbersome manual work. Would be way more realistic with fewer graves too.

    • @Gibby34340
      @Gibby34340 7 месяцев назад +6

      @@Sniperfuchs I feel it would have been much better if the level of a corpse only affected the weight or magnitude of its mod. Having to throw away ones like "+1 explicit modifier" just because it will drag the item's level down is asinine, just tie the resulting item's level to the character.

    Even if the league crafting does get really strong it shouldn't take days of farming to get enough of just the right beast to slowly click through 64 different beasts and craft one item that may or may not be good. There are a lot of crafting options that are easier and less time-consuming to craft needed gear.

    • @utmastuh
      @utmastuh 7 месяцев назад +4

      Even original Harvest wasn't this bad. At least you could force an exact result by pre-crafting certain mods to remove them from the pool, this is entirely RNG with elements that are entirely ambiguous.

    • @tsunamie1015
      @tsunamie1015 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@utmastuh You can somewhat reliably force T1-3 mods, so it's really not that bad. Especially for armour items where you can somewhat force bases it's honestly really good. You can just have one crafting project in the works over the course of several maps.
      The worst part about the system is mainly that it does take time. Crafting anything with less than half a graveyard is essentially a waste. If it was possible to get better result with less corpses it would feel a lot better, simply because it wouldn't feel like a waste.

      They pay way too much attention to streamers. The whole "separate queue for streamers" debacle proved that beyond a shadow of a doubt, the constant balancing around said streamers is just icing on the cake. While I don't want them to take the dumbed-down Blizzard approach to balance of just ignoring hardcores altogether, they need to be looking at the top 10%, not the tiny handful of people who are literally paid to play their game 24/7, corner the market in RMT, or run in full groups.

    • @zizou10ronaldinho
      @zizou10ronaldinho 7 месяцев назад +85

      It's a consequence of a trade economy where even 5% of the playerbase can 'flood' the market with good items if you make crafting easier, even if the other 95% can't figure it out or hate it... hence the super heavy reliance of RNG in the 'crafting'. I will die on the hill that we need a SSF mode with bonuses geared towards casual players who don't want SSF as a challenge, but a reprieve from gameplay for the sake of maximal currency gain. I still believe this is why harvest was so popular. The PoE trade economy has the same psychological impact as p2w in games: you reduce all of your game time into currency per hour rather than fun (instead of $s, in PoE we do it in divines).

    I need GGG to understand that I am an adult with a job, and that most of the people playing this game are adults with jobs. I think this game is fascinating and I want to get into it more, but I am simply not able to play the game 40 hours a week. I love to progress my character, but the amount of grinding required to access the content of this game is not practical when balanced with a real-life schedule of work.
    (for me specifically, I'd also like to be able to do OTHER THINGS WITH MY FREE TIME than just grind this game. am I alone here? what do you think?)
    I'd love to see league mechanics where you can basically target farm items for your character. This is simply my opinion, but considering most players quit after the first two weeks of the league anyway, I think it would be a good idea to make end-game characters more achievable for the average player (specifically, the amount of time that the average player is able to invest in the game).

    I agree with you on the overly random manner in which grave-crafting happens.
    It's natural to want consistency and predictability in the outcome. Especially if one invests a lot of input parameters / conditions (corpses) in order to narrowly select specific things.
    Also there's no feedback on if your pattern of burials is appropriate for the desired outcome before you click the Go Button, and once you've buried something, you cannot remove it to fix the pattern and you will basically waste that and all the other materials on a dud pattern. This alone makes the process a very trial and error thing that burns through the limited supply of corpses on hand and just increases the frustration.

  • @tripleraze321

    Having to navigate the graves and corpses is a huge pain in the a$$. They really need to streamline and automate necropolis mechanics. Corpse acquisition should be automatic when I walk near it rather than blocking my screen. Navigating the list of corpses should be auto organized with a search feature or assigned categories. Placing of corpses should be automatic we should just select at the start that all corpses should be connected and then everyone we pick gets auto buried. If you want to bury a separate corpse disconnected from the others there could be a button for separate corpse craft.

    If it was free or cheap then people would flood the market with corpses to see what sells and the crafters and theory crafters would have a lot more to work with as the market establishes itself. As incredible as ggg are at creating complex systems for build making and being able to play the way you want, the complexity completly lets them down when it comes to crafting. Its like they're scared to let the majority of players understand the way crafting works because they want people to buy items instead, would it be so bad to SIMPLIFY crafting instead of making it so rng and unbearable.

    Thank you for this. As a new player (started PoE 6 weeks ago towards the end of Affliction League), I've struggled with this new league a bit. Having to ensure the area/level I'm going into to ensure the modifiers are not going to work against me is beyond frustrating especially when playing with multiple players in tandem. Beyond flasks, I barely understand how to craft items for things I want, I normally would just buy the base and work from there last league, this league I doubt I'll even be able to do that with how the current mechanics are setup. It definitely kills the fun aspect of the game as I feel even more limited now.

    As a very new Poe player I can’t even begin to state where I’m confused and everything is so complicated and I’m a very competent player. Crafting in Poe have been a bane of my existence lol. Started in affliction league. Never really got good at finding correct gear and currency. I’ll probably say I single handedly had roughly 12 divines actually drop for me on my map runs and I made it to T16 maps. Was able to get around 6k juice and still nothing but chaos orbs and the same repeat unique drops that wasn’t worth a damn. But affliction league was very nice for me as a starting Poe player. just now reaching act 3 it’s crazy to see people already in maps 😅. Sorry but I still get lost in campaign at times and add in the frequent breaks it’ll be sometime next week by the time I even can think about act 10 🤣. But the only thing that scares me with crafting is the currency cost since I’ve found it hard to come across currency and that’s one of the main reasons why I think I couldn’t really dive into crafting.

    I feel like there's 3 changes to make an easy fix for the crafting
    1) Take all the "grouped" corpses, and combine them. Give them Tier 1, 2 or 3. Then you have a life tier 1 corpse, which can be use for either more common, scarcer, or less common
    2) Add a corpse that lets you choose a base type. Or even better, a corpse that lets you set the base item. Make it an option on T1 armor type corpses.
    3) Just make placing corpses in a coffin free.
    Step 1 reduces complexity and makes it easier to find the corpses you need. It doesn't change the number of corpses required to craft
    Step 2 lets you stick to the league mechanic, but makes finding it simpler
    Step 3 fixes the market, which is empty because no one wants to spend 1 chaos to find out their corpse isn't worth at least a few chaos. It also fixes the inventory issue, because people can coffin up their corpses and place them in stash tabs.
    If they did that, I feel like this would be my favorite crafting league.

      @@jordanharrison8769 kinda skill issue in that part, you can get quite good stuff, but you need the right corpses and it's still random.
      it's basically an arguably more powerful fossil. but you can basically make some mods 1000 times more common, you go from a 3% to not get the mod on a fossil to a 0.07% with necropolis, that's basically 42 fossils. (it may not be the best example, but that's how most of the math checks out.) but compared to a fossil you don't have to block, so you can have better items (e.g. life+life hybrid)
      and you can go from a 0.1% to a 50% compared to some other crafts.

    They should have had more ways to craft on the mods on the monsters if they really wanted to double down on the idea. Items to tier up and tier down mods, combine mods, add and remove mods, and yeah thr powerful/rippy mods should have been tied to rewards, even if on a different mob. You can have a % chance for divine orbs but you have to put one "135% phys as extra" mod for each element on a pack in the map. That type of puzzle would have been fun trying to figure out how to make maps work. They could even have made those mods implicit on maps so you could sell maps you can't run.

  • @rbroccoli_

    I would expect GGG to put low level crafting bonuses near the bottom of the tree to give players a boost and it looks like they did. Geminate Haunting gives bonus corpse so you're not farming forever, Imperial Wraiths gives higher tier outcome so you're getting more chance for good rolls. That seems like a quick way to farm corpses for crafting better gear.
    Just because GGG makes you take a second look at your normal atlas plan doesn't mean it's bad, it's just uncomfortable because it's new. I would say only the UI needs some work this early without really changing your playing habits to exploit the league mechanic.

    However, the league outside of this has been very kind to me. Day 2 of league I managed to get two Nameless Seer spawns on my map device, the first gave me an Ancestral Vision jewel, and the second gave me Kalandra's Touch. Think if it was a crafting station instead of how it is rn it would've been significantly more usable. Have it let you create an item or harvest style reroll an item, and let the corpse mods of same type stack so it's neater. You should be able to hold a mod of every type at once instead of the current 64 capacity where multiple of the same mod each takes up a space, this makes organizing and removing corpses a nightmare too. Have it show you a list of your mods, and then upon selecting the mod, it opens a drop down that lets you select what corpse you want to use that has the mod.

  • @RandomPrecision01

    The easiest way to fix this league is to just give players the option to turn it off. It is a lantern. Lantern on. Lantern off. It is that simple.
    If GGG doesn't want to go that route, then a mandatory league should offer mandatory power or rewards. It isn't fun to just have a league mechanic that offers difficulty, but no potential reward for it. On one hand, I understand that GGG doesn't want another Affliction League. But on the other, I have to ask, is that so bad? Seriously, for all the "complaints" on Affliction League, that boiled down to "inflation economy", Affliction is the best league we've had in years when talking about numbers and retention. And I don't understand GGG's complete averse reaction to those metrics.

You can make some good stuff in there but item bases is definitely a problem with belts, rings and amulets. They probably could fix it if you could put the base in a box instead of selecting what to craft before you hit the craft button and people could use suppression fractured bases and abyssal belts and things like that. Might be too OP tbh if you could do that though. P.S. let us have way more bodies in the morgue and make the league mechanic optional.

    What should happen is all of the corpses are auto picked up, and you can have an infinite number of corpses. Then when you go to bury them you almost craft of exile an item in a menu (it warns you if you don't have the correct corpses to provide anything close to that outcome) and it either tells you the chance you have to actually roll something similar or not. There really just needs to be a more user friendly aspect when it comes with the crafts. I think the worst slap in the face is that I have to click on all of the corpses, I only can have 64, and then I realize I don't have the ones I like while being out of room.

    Totally agree with the "No clear/easy middle ground for crafting".
    Also, not seeing much gain for buffing the monsters in map. Maybe I have to take the atlas passive nodes? But seems like a lot more riskier in HC for barely any gain(except when you hit the lotto and get one of the good gold mods)
    It almost seems like the middle ground for crafting was to simply spam 1 corpse at a time, and in QA they found this, so to patch it they gave him a 10 second channel time for each craft to make this a lot less appealing.

    Don't worry, it's also completely unrewarding with total atlas investment lol. I just made a helmet with a full row and full column of haunted modifier corpses boosted by row/column corpses. It didn't get a haunted modifier. It's just going to be a mega lottery of hoping to get a fractured haunted affix on a good base. For any actual item crafting, existing systems like fossils/essences/harvest/even Rog are just better and require way less time/annoyance.
